I grew up on the great music of the 60's-70's. CCR has always been one of my favorites. John Fogerty has one of the most unique & recognizable voices around. They don't have a bad song! Huge list of hits! "I Heard It Through The Grapevine", "Proud Mary", "I Put A Spell On You", "Fortunate Son", "Down On The Corner", "Green River", "The Midnight Special", "Susie Q", "Born On The Bayou", "Travelin' Band", "Run Through The Jungle", "Long As I Can See the Light", "Sweet Hitchhiker", "Bad Moon Rising" etc.
*Creedence Clearwater Revival* had so many hits in such a short span of time it's almost unbelievable. The original group was only together from 1968 to 1970 (the last CCR album, titled 'Mardis Gras' in 1972, was without guitarist Tom Fogerty), and yet their Greatest Hits album called "Chronicle - 20 Greatest Hits" has 20 songs and every one is a classic. Just look at this track list from "Chronicle", all from 1968-1970 but the last two: 1. Susie Q 4:36 2. I Put A Spell On You 4:30 3. Proud Mary 3:07 4. Bad Moon Rising 2:18 5. Lodi 3:10 6. Green River 2:32 7. Commotion 2:41 8. Down On The Corner 2:39 9. Fortunate Son 2:18 10. Travelin' Band 2:06 11. Who'll Stop The Rain 2:27 12. Up Around The Bend 2:41 13. Run Through The Jungle 3:05 14. Lookin' Out My Back Door 2:31 15. Long As I Can See The Light 3:33 16. I Heard It Through The Grapevine 3:52 17. Have You Ever Seen The Rain? 2:39 18. Hey Tonight 2:43 19. Sweet Hitch-Hiker 2:57 (from Mardis Gras, 1972) 20. Someday Never Comes 3:59 (from Mardis Gras, 1972) That doesn't even include "The Midnight Special", "Cotton Fields" or "Born on the Bayou", which are on Chronicle part 2: 1. Walk On The Water 4:26 2. Suzie Q (Part 2) 3:48 3. Born On The Bayou 5:10 4. Good Golly Miss Molly 2:38 5. Tombstone Shadow 3:36 6. Wrote A Song For Everyone 4:55 7. Night Time Is The Right Time 3:07 8. Cotton Fields 2:53 9. It Came Out Of The Sky 2:58 10. Don't Look Now 2:08 11. The Midnight Special 4:10 12. Before You Accuse Me 3:24 13. My Baby Left Me 2:17 14. Pagan Baby 6:25 15. (Wish I Could) Hideaway 3:53 16. It's Just A Thought 3:45 17. Molina 2:41 18. Born To Move 5:39 19. Lookin' For A Reason 3:25 20. Hello Mary Lou 2:11
Thanx 4 the list of greats and the info is excellent as well ! When it's set down in front o ya it shows the group as the real spectacle they truly are or were ! I would put it on and listen 2 it all ! Cheers .
They have great songs grew up listening to them. Once yourbare bit by these Bayou Boys, you are hooked. Great Reaction it's my first time listening just wanted to say hi from Canada.
This song was a harbinger for the demise of the band. They had achieved so much success, but he knew it was going to be over soon. Their legal battles basically robbed us of a lot of the prime years of one of the most unique voices in rock history.
I'm a Brit and in 2018 I visited Okinawa, Japan and went to Zamami Island Beach and spent a wonderful day with only about 50 people on the white sand and snorkelled for hours amongst the clown fish, cleaner wrasse and all the other beautiful fish. Most of CCR's songs were made in the late 1960's and early 1970's. Kids today stumble on them mostly by accident. You really need to hear The Midnight Special by CCR.
I think the first time I heard CCR's cover of *The Midnight Special* when I was a kid was in the Twilight Zone movie (1983). Found it! It's only about 30 seconds, but I liked it immediately, and had to get it for my collection. Here is the scene: th-cam.com/video/8rL5a3ZAQxs/w-d-xo.html
@@clutchpedalreturnsprg7710 I've known and loved that song for practically my whole life 👍😂 I have all 7 of their albums on SACD, remastered by Steve Hoffman from the original tapes (I had the 24K gold CDs on the DCC label before that, also remastered by Hoffman), along with the LP of "Cosmo's Factory" remastered from the original tapes and cut by Kevin Gray. And an original transparent red wax Japan 1st issue LP of CCR's first album, with Suzi Q 😁

Great band, great song, and I have enjoyed listening to them since the late 1960's. They sound like an American Southern rock band but they come from California. The lead singer left the band in 1972, but in the time they were together they made many great songs. I like your idea of listening to a live performance. They sound great live. Some of their top songs are Green River, Bad Moon Rising, Running Through the Jungle, Fortunate Son, and Proud Mary. Great reaction and choice of song.

John Fogerty, the band leader, says the song is about the band breaking up in the very early 1970s. I never understood that until he said so in an interview.
It was the talent and the times that created CCR, possibly the greatest group for many decades. You can enjoy the talent, but you will never feel the massive impact of this music without having lived in those emotional and turbulent times,. It truly was the best of times and the worst of times.

CCR is the Greatest American Rock Band in History. Lead by musical genius John Fogerty ( Wrote All the Songs, Lead Singer and Lead Guitar) they played Southern Blues even though they were all from Oakland/San Francisco Area,... Every Song you can find from Creedance is was a Major Hit Single, and Albums too. They were Also, the first group signed to play at Woodstock in 1969.... A lot of their songs are on Vietnam War movies.....as they were very political in their music.....
This song was written in the context of dissension within the band ultimately leading to its break up at the height of its popularity. Have you ever seen the rain coming down on a sunny day is a metaphor representing the downer that was occurring behind the scenes during the otherwise glorious time for the band. After the great singer, John Fogerty, left the band to pursue a solo career, the remaining members of the band sued him for sounding too much like John Fogerty.
What amazes me about this generation of music, the 60s and 70s, is how relevant it all still is. Listen to Jackson Brown sing "Doctor, my eyes", something he wrote in his younger years. The first CCR song I ever heard was "Bad Moon Rising"; and, that will be forever my quintessential CCR song. But "Fortunate Son" is a close second.
Damn we had the greatest songs in the 60’s and 70’s
You forgot "Up around the bend" that is my favorite and always bring me in good mood, no better way to start the day, then listening to that one.
Yeah. CCR doesn't have any bad music. Timeless.
