Sorry about the lame ending, I got my timings all wrong. I did quite a lengthy summing up further down the road I was about to join here (the A591 towards Kendal), not realising that the battery had expired, doh !
Bought my Ravishing Red in June 2019 in San Diego California. It's a 60's/70's British bike without the leaks, vibrations or malfunctions. Well over 22,000 miles and a burned out tail light bulb so far. 100 mph. 75 mpg to a US gallon. Runs perfectly from the desert to over 10,232 ft. Michelin Pilots. Now pirelli sport demons. Dragging pegs, pipes, center stand.
Totally agree, I took the hero blobs off the foot pegs, touched down far to easily 😎, not down to the stand though 😳, left all that behaviour behind in the 90’s 😂 cheers.
Nice summary Ian. I’ve had a 2021 Baker Express for 3 months and find it an enchanting bike. I still have my Ducati but the RE is just fantastic to jump on and ride anywhere anytime
I have to agree that the MT09 Tracer seat was the original plank. I have the touring seat as well on my Interceptor 2020 Glitter and Dust, love this little bike. It is about 50 years, yes 50 years since I rode that neck of the woods,at a young 74 now, I loved every minute of the ride. Thank you
Nice video, I'm thinking of buying a new Interceptor, I've currently got a Honda CB300r, which I got about 10 months ago after not riding for 28 years, so I'm a born again biker. Never been to the Lake District, Maybe with a new bike I'd get out of London a bit more.
Best thing I can suggest, is to take one out for a test ride. I don’t know much about the little Honda, but you may find the Interceptor quite a bit heavier to manoeuvre. Out on the open road, you barely notice the weight. You definitely need to get out of London, there are some cracking roads to explore. All the best, and thanks for the comment.
Great review. Ive been watching everything available on this bike as I have a demo ride this Friday with the view of buying the euro mk2 model. I also am considering having the scorpion silencers and the touring seat fitted. I'm coming from a big Harley 1700 so am looking forward to a less stressful ride. Thanks again for a great video with well articulated comments.
Thank you so much for your kind comments. As you can gather, I do love my Interceptor, she has everything for me. I am sure you will notice a massive difference compared to the HD, it will feel like you are riding a moped 😂. The scorpions, although not the cheapest, have the most pleasing note with the baffles in place, but if you want more of a throb, just remove them. It is a bit of a fiddly job, but still only about 5 mins. As for the seat, some fit the one off the GT650, as they say it is more comfortable. I just prefer the look of the Interceptor seat. I truly hope that you enjoy your test ride, try to take the bike for an extended ride, not just once around the block. That way you will get a true feel for the little beauty. Let me know how you get on. All the best, and thanks again.
@@ianhughesroyalenfield will do Ian. I'm actually looking at the new Premium touring seat so we'll see how that looks and feels. Thanks again. I'm sure if I buy I'll be asking you lots of questions regarding upgrades 😁😂🤞

Yes, the ability to stop without causing concern is a bonus. Envious of your Rocket Goldstar, but I agree that certain “mod cons” are a necessity. The ABS brakes have definitely more feel to others bikes I have owned/ridden, but as I mentioned in the video, the rear on mine is lacking in bite. A lovely plan you have set yourself, two great bikes to enjoy. Thanks for the comment.

Hola Antonio, estoy muy contento de que veas y disfrutes mis videos de viajes, he usado el traductor de Google para esto, espero que tenga sentido. Gracias por el comentario y viaja seguro. 👍
This was great for giving me a feel of the interceptor 650. do you think that the RE long fly shield would provide better wind protection, or would it just result in more buffeting?
I think the taller screen would just result in buffering, as it is not tall enough to offer any wind deflection/protection. Some owners have fitted full retro wind shields (handlebar mounted), of the type you look through, but I don't think they suit the bike (personal choice). Glad you found the video useful. I was going to mention fairing options when I came across the two cyclists on the pass, then forgot to carry on with it.🙄.
A word of caution to prospective buyers. I had a 2021 Interceptor. Lovely to look at and nice to ride around town. But you car they what you pay for. In my 1400km of ownership I have to say the bike delivered me a few dissapointments. Cutting out at lights , difficulty
Sorry for the late reply, only just seen your comment. I have done over 2000 miles, without any issues. I have heard of people having problems with grease in the relay’s, causing the bike to cut out. Maybe it was that, just a thought, but any bike could have issues from new.
hi Ian, thanks for showing us the countryside.. quick question did you get the touring seat that’s goes with gt650 or int650 touring seat …i see there 2 different ones i think ?

@@adrianstrand1120 as you can tell, I was gutted about the fog/mist on this and my other video from the same day. I ride these roads often enough to know the oddities, but gutted all the same lol. Cheers for the comments.
No rust whatsoever on mine, but I do keep it in tip top condition. No doubt, if uncared for, as with any motorcycle, there maybe corrosion, but I honestly haven’t seen any with rust. If the polished alloy casings aren’t kept on top of, they can fade, and even fur up, but you have to really neglect them for that to happen. Hope this answers your question. Cheers.
@@ianhughesroyalenfield thank you very much for this response sir. I live in northern Italy and winter is a very wet season in here, that's why I'm asking about rust, but I do have a garage so that's not a big of issue. Can't wait to buy this bike

Yes indeed, they really are brilliant. Although I say in the video that I won’t change the front, I might do when funds allow. My only concern is that I don’t think you can fit them with the standard handlebars/position due to the adjusters which come with the kit, and I quite like the riding position as is.
