The Chicago White Sox took down their A.L. Central opponents, the Minnesota Twins, in a final score of 13-0 on September 3, 2022 at Guaranteed Rate Field.
Starting pitcher Dylan Cease pitched a complete shutout and was one out away from history. Walking only two batters, Dylan Cease had 7 strikeouts over 9.0 innings pitched, and threw 8.2 hitless innings.
While Dylan Cease was pitching a lights out performance, the hitting lineup was firing on all fronts. In the 1st inning alone, the White Sox put up four runs. One run came from a RBI driven in by José Abreu. Eloy Jiménez followed up by crushing a ball into deep right center field for his ninth home run of the season, giving the White Sox a 4-0 lead.
With two men on base in the 4th inning, Romy González sent a ball into deep center field for his first career home run. The runs driven in by Romy González handed the Sox a 7-run lead heading into the second half of the game.
While Dylan Cease held strong, the White Sox tacked on more runs in the 8th inning. Seby Zavala drove in two more runs on a line drive to left field. Twins pitcher Nick Gordon quickly loaded the bases, while Elvis Andrus stepped up to the plate. Elvis Andrus crushed a ball into left field, for a grand slam that put the final touches on the White Sox win.
Dylan Cease secured the final three outs and in doing such, a White Sox victory.

Cease was absolutely dealin' tonight! One could debate pitching around Luis Arraez but honestly what done is done. Sure having him be the sole hit to break up the no-no but aside from that, Dylan was incredible and the offense backed him up big time!
Stay hot White Sox and keep streaking! So proud of you with this gameplay! I can't wait for the day when Cease does get his no-no!

Arraez leads the AL in hits and granted he was 0-3 previous to his at-bat.
One could also debate if the Sox should have keep their 8th inning offense going or just simply made 3 outs so that Cease could stay hot.
I think it could go either way because Arraez would have still had to bat. I could kinda understand that Cease didn't want to risk walking him as well but in the unpredictable nature of baseball, we may never know if a hit was eventually coming or if that 3rd out was going to be an easy play.
Pitch around a hitter when you know the game is already a blow-out win? Not very sporting, and no ML pitcher would wuss out like that.

I am reminded of the time I witnessed Wilson Alvarez' no-hitter in Baltimore. Remember when the Yankees' Andy Hawkins no-hit the White Sox -- and lost? The Yankees were pretty pitiful that year.
Are the Sox on a roll? Maybe. They've been so disappointing this year, taking one step forward and one step back. They can win the division and go deep into the post-season if they play up to their capabilities, which they have not been doing for most of the season.
I'll be watching for the sweep this afternoon though.

I'm stating the obvious, yet it seems to be oblivious to Sox mgt that you gotta get top pitching in MLB to stay competitive, stop losing streaks, etc. and looking at season so far, it seems Sox lacked consistent pitching plus inability to field steady lineup...the defense was shaky, too.
