Honda Bros 400 - The Naked Bike that you Probably Never Heard of!

  • Variants of this motorcycle were available in Europe under the name of Revere but I think they only came with 650 v-twin engine and had bigger fuel tank and more muffled silencer. The Bros name is thought to come from the fact that in Japan the 400 and 650 v-twin engines came together to the market.
Despite its measly 33 horse powers the engine is very torquey and has good power delivery. It really shines on winding country roads and around town. It also sounds great as you’ve already heard. Still the bike is heavy. It comes at 160 kg dry weight and 180 for its bigger brother. Also the tires are a bit too big for this engine displacement but they add to the cool look.
Fuel economy is great if you ride below 120 km/h. My brother averaged around 3.5-4 litres for 100 km. But one of the previous owners reported around 6.
When it came out in Japan the bike was dedicated for the upper market and you can still see all the high quality materials like chrome, brushed aluminum and alloy bars for the steering.
Maintenance wise this bike is solid. For it’s more than 35 years it never broke. Some of the old owners decided to ditch the original air filter box and put some high performance air filters but we got a new box from ebay and fixed this mistake. The fuel delivery is done by two carburettors and they are not in their prime anymore so maybe they will need servicing and membrane replacement. I think that if maintained properly this bike will last forever.
Now let’s enjoy this bike by riding it in the country side. Stay tuned and Peace!

My best friend died in the early 2000s. He was a courier and loved this bike, never any trouble and never let him down driving eight hours a day for year. Had some great times on the bike. Nice to see it here again.

The design language of some things barely changed on honda bikes, the light and starter controls and the footpegs look incredibly similar to my 2023 honda

The Bros may be 35 years old now but the bike looks modern and it is so well build that it may be confused for a much newer model.
