Dougo is a trooper, he even kept his signature commical sarcasm going. When you have faith, it allows you to look at thing's like this, vent it out a bit, but then realise that it can be replaced. Nikki has been gone a year this week, and that kind of loss dwarfs this. My sister lost her husband to cancer last September, she's 52, and her youngest daughter home is 11, and their house was taken out in gaylord, michigan a few day's by a tornado. Many of the home's were levelled, but my sister is staying with friend's until they insurance decides what to do. God bless.

      ya got TWO CHOICES....
you get all jaked up out of shape and anxious paniky and MESSED UP...
      or
KEEP YOUR COOL AND JUST TRUDGE ON doing what ya gotta do....
just keep swimming just keep swimming...
IT IS YOUR CHOICE IF YOU ALLOW ANY THING TO MESS WITH YOUR JOY/LOVE/COMPASSION !!!!! free will free choice, YOUR CHOICE.... ;)
gettin all worked up has it place, like BEFORE BATTLE... not during normal days... NO WORRYS, NO STRESS, NO FEARS, that don't mean go out and be STUPID WITH NO FEAR..... just means don't LET anything cause unwanted NEGATIVE emotions/feelings... ;)

Tore my roof off, ripped off all my siding, demolished my garage, took my shed & blew it 17 miles to the west. We were without power for 3 days. In the late 60s my grand parents survived by the grace of God a direct strike on there home by a tornado. The house was surrounded by seven 100+ year old dutch elms. Granddad told me he heard a noise and went and opened the front door. He saw the porch pillar spin in circles and go straight up in the clouds. They didn't have time to go to the storm seller. The house was pushed off the foundation and the walls cracked. After the storm the neighbors came over through their 3/4 section of standing wheat on tractor to make sure my grandparents were okay. This was in Beloit KS. The tornado bounded along the stream course of the Solomon River. It damaged 19 farms and a lot of standing grain. I visited with my mom (her parents) and saw the destruction. I am now in my 70s with three grandsons. I appreciate you taking us along on a video tour. May God keep you all and protect you. Did you salvage the corn before it soiled?

Back in November of 2005 a blizzard with strong winds swept out of South Dakota and through central Nebraska. Hundreds of center pivots and countless structures were damaged. It was very discouraging and overwhelming to look at but we somehow got through it and your area will as well. Wish you the best as you finally get to the fields.

Dougo! OMG! Thanks for the tour. Humor will win the day.
We need to get you on the road to perform stand-up. Keeping a sense of humor will get you through all the damage. Sorry to see all the destruction the storm caused. I got tired just watching you point out all the destruction. Lots of replacement/repairs are needed. Insurance helps, but as we know, there is always lots of work on top of everything even if you have coverage.
Over the years, all of you have worked very hard to set up the fields and establish a homestead. Thankfully, you have Chet, the Big Swede, and Brody to help out now. I’m sure most of us that follow you believe that you all will be able to rise to the challenge and begin the process of rebuilding, while at the same time getting ready to plant. If only the general public knew how difficult farming is. Hats off to you all, including mom and pop.

I was SO thankful that my parents were okay several years ago when a tornado hit the home place. I told them, the only thing that mattered was that they were okay. As we turned the corner and started seeing the trees down and buildings gone, my heart sank! The tornado took EVERYTHING around their house, God protected them (my Mom in a wheelchair & my Dad was deaf and didn't hear it). Our prayers go out to you and your entire community. Not many years ago, when I was still in high school, we got hit by a tornado also. When we came out the next morning to see 2 buildings and 3 grain bins flattened, I actually started to shake thinking we would never be able to recover. I remember Grandpa coming over and saying, " AJ, everything you see here is just possessions. They can be replaced. We can rebuild and will only be out time and some money. Two towns over, people died last night. Those are the folks we need to worry about. " The reason I bring this up is that the Larson family is a good moral family and I know you will recover from this terrible event. Thank God you are all safe!

The question is which price does the insurance pay. Do they pay the $50,000 it used to cost to build a shed or do they pay the $100,000 it costs today. My guess is they pay the "value" at assessment which if it was pre covid prices would be a huge difference. Dunno maybe a farmer will answer

It still puzzles me greatly that in the richest country in the world, they still hang power lines etc. in the air despite the fact they suffer extreme weather such as tornados. In Scandinavia we dig everything in the ground and we never have tornados! It just makes no sense.

@@csaunderson The point it, when you put it in the ground it is protected and you will not need to fix it, especially after a tornado visits! @@_-martin-_ some ground isnt the best for underground systems as well. Some areas have high water tables and other obstacles which makes it easier to have over head. Lots of new developments have urd systems which is over head to the development then transitions to underground. Also in states where they salt the roads for winter it destroys the insulation on the cable and causes burnouts. I use to work for one of the biggest utility companies in the world.

I'm so sorry that nature has dealt you this hard blow but you are an inspiration with your outlook and calm acceptance of it. I suppose taken in context with the loss you suffered last year it does bring home the fact no one was hurt and buildings can be repaired. I hope you can get things sorted without too much trouble.

The spread and severity of the damage is astounding. Good job documenting that to share with us Dougo! Here's hoping everyone can recover as best as they can quickly.

My heartfelt prayers to the Larson families!!!!
So sorry for all of your terrible terrible damage.
Am so glad all of you are safe!!!!! Material things can be fixed or replaced but having someone hurt is another story.
Once again, so glad you ALL are ok and safe.
I am beyond words at all of your damage. So sorry.
Dougo, so respect you for your attitude toward this situation. You are hanging in there and taking things a step at a time. Your upbeat attitude about all of this is to be admired.
Just get things fixed as you can. Step at a time.
Your bin situation would seem to be of concern for the harvest time. Knowing you, you will come up with a plan.
Will leave you alone now. You have your hands full.
So sorry for your damage loss.
My prayers to all of you.
    May god watch over you.
    The Iowa farm boy.
    Steve.
Dougo, thanks for doing this video. Know it was not easy to do.
    Heartfelt thanks.

My heart sunk. I know that feeling, going into salvage mode. Grasping at straws, trying to be thankful for what survived. What can a guy say? It tests your Faith for sure. I'll forgo the silver lining phrases and say, there's not much I can do to help but stand with you emotionally and spiritually and pray, mourning on the heels of mourning. Brings to mind, added to other setbacks and sadness, standing in the bridge over the Minnesota river with my dad and grandpa, looking at a third of our yearly income under water, hearing "Yeah, it's not my first rodeo but it's one of the worst, let's get to work". We weren't in it alone nor are you and your neighbors, the fellowship and community you build....
Nuff said, you know, Dugo, you know...

Oh man! Dougo you have a great way of looking at serious problems. A sense of humor and a strong back will get you through the worst of this. I feel so bad for you all, seems the struggle bus has landed hard at your farmland this year. It will only get better it has too. As my Mom used to say “pick yourself up dust yourself off and get back in the game!” I’m glad to see that no one was injured and hopefully insurance will cover all the damage including the crops. Know that your family is in my family’s thoughts and prayers. Be well stay strong!

Wow I can’t imagine. My daughter was in hurricane Ida. She on had a giant tree fall on to the backyard. The tip of the branches just brushed her home. But your damage is just unimaginable. Framers all seem to get to rally together. I’m sorry for all of the damage you have endure. You guys are the heart of America. Stay strong. May God keeps by your side.
