    Today we are back with another walleye video from the St. Croix River bordering Wisconsin and Minnesota. In this video we talk about river fishing for walleyes and how we are using lead core line and crank baits to troll up some late summer river walleyes. Thanks for watching and stay tuned for more walleye content!

    It's OK to show other fish species being caught Tommy it's all part of the fun of fishing. Talk about the targeted fish for sure, you do a great job at that thank-you. Sometimes the other fish can have some excitement too. Fish on have fun

      I agree, I'd love to see some other species that tom catches. He seems to disrespect the non-target fish. I mean, catching a sturgeon?? That's really cool!

      I fully understand why he doesn't always show other fish caught when he's doing walleye videos. Especially sturgeon you can fight them for an hr and not get them in

    Love fishing in an area where there is a possibility to catch multi species. Prime example here, walleye and a bonus Sturgeon. Maybe a 40+ pike in the mix wouldn't hurt

    Tom, If you have a WI license you can have 3 rods per person if you fish the WI side. If you are on the MN side only 2 rods. Just talked to WI DNR help line.

    Great stuff as always man. I live up in Washington on the Columbia River. Yesterday I was visited by the Walleye GODS. Boy oh boy, whats the odds of seeing 3 World Records (Walleye) together at one time. Swimming under my boat. I bet I might be the only person to see Three 20 to 25 pound, bet they were about 40inches. Thats with no egg weight. My biggest is around 17lbs no eggs. I catch and release huge Walleye on a regular basis but those were God's. Swear on my life!

    I had one of those Shad Dancers that I found in a bargain bin somewhere a few years ago. After catching a ton of walleye on it I lost it and couldn't remember what it was called. I've searched for it unsuccessfully. Thanks for reminding me of its name. Now I can stock up on them!

    Thanks for the vid Tom! Really wondering how you regulate the depth of your bait based on the distance behind the boat when trolling. Can you talk a little bit about different scenarios and waters and boats speed, and also mixing a discussion about when you use weight, etc.? Seen a bunch of your different videos lately and would love to hear you talk about depths. Thank you and fish on!

      @@markh9675 We fish the Croix 15-20x /yr. Fish eat both going up and downstream. We pull lead there a bunch. Tom actually fished right passed us last year when he did his dirty river walleye video last year. We were pulling lead.

      @markh9675 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@aaronotto7010 - thanks! I'm thinking of going to lake Pepin (and pool 4) tomorrow (first time). I have no lead weight line (yet). I have no idea what to expect either. Is trolling live bait a thing in that water? I've never fished water were it's both a lake and part of a river.

    • @markh9675
      @markh9675 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, Pepin is a big lake! I caught a few small white bass (one poor guy was hooked while using a planer board...but was so small the flag didn't move). He was no worse for the wear however...it was just a lip hook and he was more than happy to swim away.

  • @hankvana2149
    @hankvana2149 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    QUESTION TOM, HELP PLEASE... when you are looking for fish do you jump to likely spots you see on the map then slow down and use sonar to search or do you have your transducer setup to read on plane? I ask because I am about to install my Solix (MSI+) and the installation manual recommends setting the transducer height so that it is out of the "jet stream" but submerged at trolling speeds. I've always installed my Lowrance transducers low enough to read while cruising on plane. What do you recommend? I have a 20 hp and can do about 24 mph at maximum throttle, usually run at 20 mph. Thanks!
