I’ll just help all the new guys out. It’s not unprecedented to defend an interim title. Renan barao defended his twice and was set for a third defense before Cruz was stripped and barao was upgraded to undisputed.
Would not expect that Aspinall would overlook an opponent he previously lost to. Seems more likely that he'd have greater motivation to prepare for a guy who beat him the last time... even if it was due to an injury. Blaydes appears to have improved since the first fight. Damn near anything can happen in a fight and nobody is perfect at predicting who wins.
Not gonna lie, I hadn't seen a lot of tape from Blaydes. Has me really interested to see how this fight will go. Given Tom's grappling bonafides, I think there's the potential for interesting ground exchanges if Blaydes can get the takedown. At the very least, I don't think there'll be too much layin and prayin
i left a comment on toms video and lots of people jumped on me, but i am right! Tom doesnt have many flaws but one is when he pulls bk with head movement to avoid punches, hes there to be hit on a second and third punch, standing there with his chin right up in the air, someone like Poatan will take advantage of this, everyone was like how dare you tell tom this, but im not wrong, this is a hole in his game, you can tell he used to doing it aswell so its drilled into him, hes needs to stop the head movement when hes going backwards, he thinks hes good at it because hes fast, but timing and presiscion will find that chin, numerous times in this video you see exactly what im saying, pulling back with his hands down, i want tom to win is the reason why im saying this, its a huge flaw in his game, his head movement isnt good enough to not plug this hole! Im no expert, but ive done martial arts muay thai and boxing since i was young, if i can see this flaw i guarantee you other fighters can.
I have a feeling that Curtis is going to win. Everytime in the past, a contendar looked like a potential challenge for Jones, was gotten rid of before getting to Jones. I think Curtis will be able to secure takedowns and finish the fight OR he is going to have a chance to do it on the feet as well with Takedown threat is Aspinall's Head. I Want Aspinall to will, but I think Curtis will be taking the win.
I feel like no real fan of the sport who understands it more than a casual level understands how good both these guys are and is not overlooking either of them and understands that either of them can pose a threat to jones. At least more than stipe.
I wouldn’t say Blaydes is being overlooked, but I do worry that I’m thinking too much of Aspinall. At the end of the day, it’s heavyweight, all it takes is one solid connection to change the fight. Aspinall likes dropping his hands and backing up, and Blaydes is great at charging someone down. I think it could be a much closer fight than Aspinall stans are expecting. Still hope he wins, but Blaydes is definitely a potential threat. Regardless of what we think, Aspinall takes everyone seriously, so he’s not gonna overook Blaydes. He’ll be planning well, his fight IQ is high level, especially at this weight.
check out his fight against volkov or androski - some solid takedowns from tom in both fights, and he’s been training bjj since he was 8. we haven’t gotten a great example of his takedown defense, but i would assume it’s at least alright. that being said, curtis knows his shit when it comes to ground game.
I am happy now that Curtis defeated Jailton Almeida, but at the time I was frustrated by how Jailton stayed in the same position while being hammered into a Tko
curtis is a great fighter and should never be overlooked, but i think a lot of people look at his fights with ngannou, sergei and maybe even lewis and belive tom should be able to do something similar to curtis. i really hope tom wins because i think it would be better for the future of the division and the UFC, but curtis seems like a decent guy so rooting against him is always kind of hard for me...^^
I think, while I hate giving jones credit, if blaydes beats aspinal then jones is right about aspinal being just an up and comer that will vanish from stardom
I like Blaydes a lot. But it just feels like he’s another Corey Anderson type of guy. Someone who will always be a top ranked guy in his division but probably won’t ever be at the top of that division. I mean it took Corey Anderson leaving the UFC and multiple title shots in Bellator to finally get gold
In HW, I think (most) all of us understand that the puncher's chance can lick you where it never would actually even stun lighter fighters.. There is an honest to God reason heavyweights get turned off.. Rightfully, or by not missing a hammer.. This isn't for the causal fight fan.. More like those of us who actually have practiced (in my case, amature for sure!) and who are a huge fan of the sport.. The game.. And especially fighters... Hate em' or Love them.. Just my nothing POV.. Tom Aspinall is something truly special and dangerous as h3ll.. I've NEVER in my life seen in person, PPV or just retakes a HW that moves like Tom does.. While nobody is "invincible"... I've never seen a more complete fighter in this division than Tom... I've never seen a man move like him at this weight or even LHW with the exception of 7/10's Jon Jones.. I like Curtis Blaydes.. He has really good power and wrestling.. However, he likely is going to be manhandled by Aspinall this time... "P.S.".. Serious respect for Blaydes when Tom blew his knee out and Curtis didn't come in like a hurricane on him... That is class.. Something that all too often is ignored on MMA with tv coverage.. Like Chael the human pin cushion and suppository sounding Sonnen.. Fighters sometimes have to resort to antics and being jagoffs for attention and fights... NEVER seen Tom Aspinall treat anyone like dirt.. Oh, and BTW.. THIS BELT should NOT be an Interim ANYTHING title.. DANA.. You have all the money in the effing world, and you EARNED IT.. Get over JJ and stop the total embarrassment you have allowed the HW division to be! I LOVE Stipe'.. GET over it! Your own personal most hated fighter = Jon Jones, and your crush.. YOU KNOW that JJ cannot stand up in HW against Aspinall.. What truly after all of these decades pisses me off.. The "interim" belt.. YOU cannot defend your fkn strap.. Come back for it later... Dana knows Aspinal is going to literally manhandle Jon.. Nothing Jon on his best days likely could handle.. And, I DO love Jon Jones and respect the heck out of his prowess.. Probably the greatest natural fighter of all time - in his normal class.. He's going to duck Tom almost for sure... And, JJ will forever have an * by his name once he retires not fighting Tom..
Im a big fan of Aspinall but rooting for my fellow American in this fight i feel like Curtis is highly underrated his grappling is probably the best in the heavyweight division and hes got serious power in his hands And hes only lost to the top guys besides a fluke ko loss to Lewis
There´s no way he´s a better grappler than Jones. Can you imagine Jones shooting for a takedown and being knocked out by Lewis in the process? "Come on, man."
@@SouljaxlJones fought multiple LHW champs, not sure how they are "bums". He also outwrestled DC, who basically ragdolled HW Lewis.
Yes.
I wish Bigi Boy could put together a run tbh.
Id love to see Blaydes win, hes ultimately the more difficult fight for Jon at heavyweight anyway and would be much more interesting
i left a comment on toms video and lots of people jumped on me, but i am right!
Great breakdown man. 👍👍
🙏
I have a feeling that Curtis is going to win. Everytime in the past, a contendar looked like a potential challenge for Jones, was gotten rid of before getting to Jones. I think Curtis will be able to secure takedowns and finish the fight OR he is going to have a chance to do it on the feet as well with Takedown threat is Aspinall's Head. I Want Aspinall to will, but I think Curtis will be taking the win.
Yes blades is a serious threat to a spinal. His toughest opponent to date.
Baylians voice always reminds me of an old school pirate 😂 awesome breakdown Baylian ❤
I havent seen tom’s grappling so if he can stop takedowns from curtis it wouldnt be competitive
check out his fight against volkov or androski - some solid takedowns from tom in both fights, and he’s been training bjj since he was 8. we haven’t gotten a great example of his takedown defense, but i would assume it’s at least alright. that being said, curtis knows his shit when it comes to ground game.
I am happy now that Curtis defeated Jailton Almeida, but at the time I was frustrated by how Jailton stayed in the same position while being hammered into a Tko
I picked Curtis in the first fight and I'm leaning towards him again (even though he was stopped by lewis) but he is really underrated
You know what they say hype trains always get derailed
Yeah like pereira did right …..
@@alexgonzalez8954he’s not unstoppable lol
Toms fans are overlooking him but man, Curtis Blaydes is no joke and a very real fight for both guys. Great match up!
curtis is a great fighter and should never be overlooked, but i think a lot of people look at his fights with ngannou, sergei and maybe even lewis and belive tom should be able to do something similar to curtis.
i really hope tom wins because i think it would be better for the future of the division and the UFC, but curtis seems like a decent guy so rooting against him is always kind of hard for me...^^
Thanks for the breakdown
You know, i kinda fancy alex poatan against these heavyweights
I think, while I hate giving jones credit, if blaydes beats aspinal then jones is right about aspinal being just an up and comer that will vanish from stardom
I call bull. Blaydes has fought many more people than Aspinal. In my opinion you’re showing bias
Answer: no
Never realized the jab shattered Aspinalls leg.
I think this is toms hardest matchup so far. Im not gonna be surprised if blaydes gets the win
Blood got beat up in 2 mins 😭 over looked my ass
1 minute*
Have completely different fight card tomorrow? No coverage on that one?
Imagine the amount of tweets from Jones when aspinall loses
Yes
This is probably the most stacked Heavyweight division since the ol' Pride days. No wonder Jon's hiding with his tail tucked 😂
Don't think Aspinal is overlooking him which is smart blaydes has a nightmare smothering wrestling style, very excited for this fight
He’s not being overlooked it’s just he’s fighting Tom
Im a big fan of Aspinall but rooting for my fellow American in this fight i feel like Curtis is highly underrated his grappling is probably the best in the heavyweight division and hes got serious power in his hands
And hes only lost to the top guys besides a fluke ko loss to Lewis
There´s no way he´s a better grappler than Jones.
Can you imagine Jones shooting for a takedown and being knocked out by Lewis in the process?
"Come on, man."
He literally got out grappled by Almeida, how can he be the best grappler in the division?
@@D12Minthis is modern hw ufc, not lhw fighting mostly bums. Who has Jones fought with half of Lewis’ power? Anyone can get KOd by Lewis
@@SouljaxlJones fought multiple LHW champs, not sure how they are "bums". He also outwrestled DC, who basically ragdolled HW Lewis.
But forget about Jones, just look at what a small, fat DC did to Lewis. Blaydes looked infinitely worse. Lewis is a ragdoll for a prime wrestler and Blaydes couldn´t get the job done. He is certainly not the best grappler in the division.
@@D12MinWe won’t know, as jones won’t fight anyone other than old man Stipe
Yeah he is being overlooked, you will realise why on 27th
He is good but he has a tendency for boring fights and saying you will have a boring fight before fighting a boring fight does not make you likeable. I really dislike him.
baylian been WORKING
Tom himself has stated that his favourite fighter is razor blaydes himself. This means he isn't overlooking blaydes and knows that curtis blaydes can be a huge threat.
Curtis "No Chin" Blaydes. Great wrestling and decent striking but all you have to do is tap that chin lightly.
You could never be a dominant defending champion no matter how good you are if you have no chin. You'll win one and lose your next, especially if in the Heavyweight division.
he lost against ngannou, lewis and pav. ya'll crazy
Seriously, why do you guys put the discord sign up at the end of every video?? You guys do not have a discord 🤨
Blaydes is getting overlooked after getting "Johnny Walkered" by Francis and Derrick. His chin is the problem and Tom is probably the fastest guy in the division.
I know the first fight was not a good measuring stick but when i was watching it live i thought aspinal was gonna get knocked out
I just can't get over it how disrespectful it is to make these fighters show up at 6 a.m. in the morning.
So a guy that moves laterally with his hands up Vs a guy who moves backwards with his hands down. Gee, I wonder how the fight is going to go?
Aspinals toughest to date fight i reckon
Yes, big time! Everyone just talks about the injury, but forgets that the only two punches landed before the injury were landed by Curtis...
Do you know how long the fight went for before the injury? Tom annihilates curtis.
@@GDAWG. We'll see. I'm rooting for Tom, but even he admits this is stylistically his worst match-up in the division.
