Excellent and thorough review Matt! Can’t wait to apply some of your expert advice, but my Wigglebutt pup is only 10.5 weeks old. Having said this, is there a disc you recommend rolling for getting young pups interested and started?
We use a wide variety of discs for rollers, I do like heavier plastics for rollers as they are less affected by the ground surface and the weight issues for younger dogs is less of a factor. With a Mini Aussie the Atom or Supersonic are a great choice. With bigger dogs the Superstar is a good choice as well.
Question do you find the color matters? Like is a black disc bad?
Color does affect some dogs, although contrast is definitely more important. They see movement better than colors or shades, so having a contrasting color helps them pick up on the disc's movement quicker. For us, we have had both types in our home, those who see anything and those who we are a bit more selective with colors. In more dim light, a lighter color is typically better, and in bright light, darker colors are preferred for our pups
