    I found this video accidentally and have watched it several times in addition to another Ted talk you did. I also subscribed to your you tube channel. I am 54 and post menopause. I have struggled with so many issues since about age 50. If only I had this information a few years ago! Thank you!

    Thanks for this! Finally, and desperately I found a functional medicine clinic December 2021. At 61, I’ve been post menopausal for 12 years, and no Dr ever discussed hormonal supplement with me. Along with many other health aspects, we are addressing my hormonal balance and it is life changing! In only 3 months of eating different, supplements and embracing my health as my priority, I have hope and I feel like my future is bright! I’ve lost 26 pounds so far, and another 80 to go, and I will get there!

    This school year in England, after a huge campaign, Menopause is is being taught as part of the National Curriculum, how I wish that had happened in my day, and more companies are investing in staff training to understand how this can effect women. I’m still finding out information for myself and struggling. Hopefully young women will be prepared for this time in their lives.

    I just stumbled upon this video. I just turned 60 this week. I am vegan. I struggle with depression, anxiety, insomnia, crying everyday and alcohol. I'm going to watch all of your videos on your channel after this...hoping this ends.

    Thanks for speaking on this very important issue. As you point out, women live to 84 now, and we need to understand how to navigate these peri menopausal years more effectively with current and accurate information. For me the anxiety is more of an issue than the other more classic symptoms. I am 48 and feel like I hit menopause over night without a lot of preparation from the women in my family who are older or from society in general. Typically "middle aged women" are not seen as vibrant, valuable, or integral in the North American culture unfortunately. I appreciate your generosity in posting this. Please keep this conversation going with these intelligent examples of professionally trained women.

      I have been living the OMAD/vegan life for 9 years now. Started off weighing 534... 5'4. I weigh 120 now. It works for me! Thank you

    I thought peri-menopause was bad, then the menopause came, and it was like hitting a brick wall.
    Doctors don’t help.
    Food is key, and eating a lot less of it.

    Thank you so much. You are reminding me why I lived intermittent fasting. I do use MACA for the reasons you stated. My husband gets good results also...😉 My question is what amount of MACA do you suggest? Thanks I’m a follower!!

    I was slim untill late menopause and the weight gain happened. Everything she talks about. Happened me. Could not for the life of me pull myself out of it. Knew in my head what was wrong, but the fog does not let you think straight

    It's interesting to me that in german there is a common word for perimenopause (Wechseljahre = "years of change") but I don't know if there is a non-clinical term at all for menopause, it's just called that, only with german pronounciation.

    Thank you! In addition to the S.A.D. (Standard American Diet), many people must deal with unhealthy institutional practices of very limited bathroom breaks (leading to dehydration) and as little as 5-10 minutes for lunch (eating for fuel under duress), elevating stress hormones.

    You talk about 8 hrs sleep Cynthia I'm 65 and suffered from insomnia for about 40 years + using sleeping pills, the most sleep I get is about 4 hrs a night I worked as a nurse for 44 yes!!

      Definitely work with a functional or integrative medicine specialist to figure out how best to support your sleep :)

    Those supplements you mentioned, especially Maca, How much do you take a day? I know you can add it into smoothies, 1tsp or 1T.?

      For maca, I've been adding ~5gr to my coffee for several several years now. I also add ~5 gr of chia seed for the bulk/fiber. I first add the maca in the hot coffee and stir it because I was tod that it should be cooked
      (I use a blender bottle that I shake. I believe the shaking act as convection. Just be carefull because the sudden heat release create pressure inside the bottle and can open the lid, spewing coffee on the nearby wall. Shake a few times then open the cap to release the pressure. Close again and shake for 30 seconds.)
      After letting it cool a little, I add the chia seed because it shouldn't be cook to preserve the omegas.
      Hope it is helpful.

    I'm not sure what's the greatest most impactful change. Probably veggie oil removal. My wife changed nothing else and lost 10 pounds in 2 weeks. I was filling our whole family with that posion, sorry to them and me. Dramatic changes for everyone. Much better moods all around after just that change. Please eat more animal fats. Cream, butter, lard tallow. Do not fry foods in veggie oils at all.

    At age 45, I went to my OB/Gyn telling her I was having perimenopause symptoms, and she said "you're not old enough for that!". What!!!!

      The term “peri-Menopause” wasn’t coined until the 2000’s, along with the symptomology Some of us ladies that are in this phase of our lives didn’t grow up hearing anything about it because “it” was never recognized as “a thing” in Western medicine.

    The only thing I have to say is, when you walk back and forth on the stage, it makes me dizzy. I’m sorry to say it, but I can’t watch you for a long period of time because of that. I have to turn away. You’re a great speaker and motivates me. Thank you.

    Disagree with the WIFI comment. Your body can’t detect cell phone, WIFI radiation. You need to be able to relax after using phone or computer to get solid sleep.
