@@jodyjazzofficial Friend at Uni, lent me his Jet mouthpiece with power ring while I get the funds to buy the HR Dark Custom, giving it a blow soon. When Gustavson Custom Horns get their stock in I should have enough for the Dark Custom. Thanks once again Jody.
Jody, didn't realize you were also a monster on clarinet. No wonder I love my Umbra along with the Chedeville SATB sax mouthpieces! And, of course my Alto and Tenor Custom Darks....awaiting the Soprano Custom Darks, Power Rings and the Bass Clarinet Chedevilles. That makes 8 of your mouthpieces so far in my collection and 3 more to come once the Custom Dark Baritone comes out! Love your bass clarinet sound!!! The KING OF THE INSTRUMENTS!!!
Thank you so much Chuck! So glad you’re loving all our mouthpieces and what a wonderful friend of JodyJazz you are. Can’t wait till you try the other mouthpieces :)
Love the HR Custom Dark Alto...EVERYTHING other than the smell of the Chedeville rubber. i’ve heard of others complaining about it as well...so bizarre and like nothing I’ve smelled before. None of my other JJ pieces have that issue nor do my Meyers and Otto Links. The composition off that soft rubber has it’s benefits but the odor is not one of them...still worth it but Buyer beware.
The Chedeville Rubber does have a higher Sulphur content, therefore it has a stronger smell and since we have a matte finish that smell can come out a little more. I understand that some people have a greater sensitivity to this smell than others. We actually get very few complaints about the smell. If you do have a sensitivity to the smell, if you leave the mouthpiece out in the open air rather than shutting it up in your case you will notice the small much less. We use the Chedeville rubber because of it’s warmer richer sound, so we are going to stick with it on the HR* Custom Dark.
I am looking forward to trying some of your tenor dark pieces . Keep up the great work !
Thank you!
Great video, nice!
Thank you!
Such a sweet sound on a soprano, I can't believe my ears. Makes me want to buy a sop to add to my tenor.
Thank you! Yes our mouthpieces making playing soprano fun :)
