I want to correct myself: when I say Charles' original facings are more usable than any of his peers TODAY, I obviously mean compared to original facings by Lelandais, Henri LeRoy, A. Robert, H. Ched, Bettoney, Vega, even the Kaspars' facings aren't anywhere near the comfort of Charles' work. This is of great testament to Charles' genius. But obviously, great craftsmen today like Brad Behn make an EXTREMELY "usable" facing...I put "usable" in quotes because that descriptor only refers to facings from such a bygone era. Even though there are people today that are somehow making unusable facings, which baffles me. I've also tried Charles' facings that are terrible for me, so, as with every vintage paradigm, inconsistency is king.

Can you comment on how some of these mouthpieces tune with today's clarinets? Are throat tones flat? Twelfths reasonably close? (Did I spell 12ths right? Looks strange.)
