- Welcome to PART FIVE of my first ever "Let's Play" on TH-cam! I decided to kick off our playthroughs here with Outer Wilds!
More rumors have been uncovered and I am so excited to explore more!! Thank you (again) for being patient with my ADHD stubborn self, believe me - I get frustrated watching myself back LOL.
Videos will be released every Friday at 8AM PDT, so part 6 will be out on Friday August 30th at 8AM PDT :)
Thank you so much for watching! :D

Crunched - 4
Fall Damage - 4 (+1)

The deaths are increasing in complexity. 33:33
I have other stats for you to track:
Wasted trips to the High Energy Lab: lost count
Times landing camera used: 0
@StarpunkPrime not using the landing camera is pro-gamer. I used it like once before realizing crashing into the planet is superior
She's gonna have a hell of a laugh watching others once this is done 😂
I highly recommend About Oliver's playthrough, astrophysicist with great observation and deductive skills.
Stroll over the sun station like it was nothing. Twice! Many struggle with the flight across.
Damn I love watching this game. Again and again. It's almost like I'm in a time loop.
Just when I thought this couldn't get more frustrating. Walking out of the tower without stepping on the warp! lmao. Screaming! "Omg no! The door doesn't stay open! This isn't dark souls!" 😂😂😂
Making that space walk on the sun station on your first try was awesome! I know I fell into the sun multiple times trying to make that jump. Thanks again for the fun playthrough!
The amount of times I screamed in my room I’m so glad I don’t have close neighbors
Pretty sure it's designed that way, it's like 1 second off so you can't just stumble on it
@@rauminen4167 : Although PlayFrame (one of the best OW playthroughs IMO) _did_ manage to stumble on it prematurely, and then took you-know-what without knowing what the heck he was supposed to do with it. And then later he took you-know-what to a certain location in the DLC just to see what would happen. Fun times. 😀
I would just like to remind viewers to remember the red herrings they went after in their own playthroughs while ignoring the obvious solution that was sitting right in front of them. NOT THAT THAT HAPPENED THIS EPISODE OR ANYTHING
LMFAOOOOOOOOOOO shhhhhhhhhhh
LOL, yeah.
I ended up looking up a few solutions online, too, so I'm not the kinda person who is good at reasoning out those types of puzzles.
16:49 "a core.... dingly?" absolutely sent me
Nice job making the sun station leap of faith on your first try, both ways!. Most people panic, especially when then the sun station does not remain in the same orientation. Flinging yourself straight ahead and focusing on only your target is the way to go. I guess a bit of tunnel vision does come in handy in places like that!
You'd think I was happy because it's Friday and the weekend is just around the corner, but nope. It's this right here. This is why I'm happy. 😊
The music should be my meditation mix. Probably wouldn’t help me clear my mind, though. I’d spend too much time silently weeping.
@@obiwanpez Absolutely love the music in this game. Every time the supernova song would come on I would just sit back and enjoy lol
The adorable little "Wot?" at 14:40 made me laugh out loud.
Best part of Friday is officially here!
Edit: What an exciting finish for the episode. Now the wait till next week begins…
oh wow oh wow!
so many "will she..." moments
your intuition is really good
I'm always scared about the intuitive playthroughs because they are always the ones that find something before they even understand what they have found. 😆It turns into a "will she remember it later when it becomes important" situation. I love that the devs made everything accessible but found small ways to make a lot of 'just missed it' moments in finding it without combining some gained knowledge.
Genuinely surprised you still haven't noticed something that I'm not even going to hint at. I'm excited to see how long it takes and what the aha moment looks like.
youve had some pretty out of the box thinking in this but the tunnel vision on some extremely out of the box thinking maybe brought on by comments from the sounds of it... in the high energy lab there are power cables. you can see where the power is going. so in this case looking down is the problem instead of looking up. everything you need is there....
only saying this because i would feel bad if you suffered through more hours of thinking a lab experiment is actually physically connected to the real project itself. the lab was just to test a proof of concept. you dont build a full scale version of something which takes a massive amount of resources then make a small scale version to test if it even works.....
I was just thinking about this playthrough, so happy part 5 is out!!
You: "Stop, game, stop! You're being dramatic!"
*immediately bonks into her ship mid-way through the column of sand, gets yeeted into space, and ends up crashing into Ember Twin, obviously dying on the spot*
Me: ...Dying in a dramatic way from bad karma (AKA step #3 to join the Cult), CHECK! ✅ ::)
When your ship hit you in the sky after getting launched by the sand, I was dying. Oh my gosh. I've never seen something like that happen to someone. Which, honestly, I say that every time I watch someone play this game.
It's so interesting seeing others and how they interact with puzzles ::) crazy how close you cut it with the oxygen hahah
No need to avoid tunnel vision, it helps you navigate those tunnels! Seeing you's goin through Ember Twin as you know it like the back of your hand now.
Let's gooooo! Love this playthrough :) makes my day!
I guarantee I can pinpoint the exact time everyone watching this video screamed at the screen.
How can you pinpoint something that happened at 5 or 6 (or 20) different points?
@@DarkPhoenix6853 Lol. I'll just keep it to the first then.
Getting to the Sun Station after the Interloper (I did too) makes the line about a comet arriving much more somber. The Sun Station has failed, and now they go to explore an interesting comet, only for it to kill them all. Even sadder, had the sun station worked, the Nomai may not have perished at all. They may have left for the Eye before the Interloper got close enough to explode
The hardest part about watching others play, is trying not to spoil anything, or backseating them. I wish I could say anything but I cant and its tearing me apart. Please do stay until the end of the game.
The journey we all had while playing this game was the joy of finally *getting* it, and solving a puzzle. I bet if we'd all been able to watch videos of our playthroughs we would have been equally like "wait, how did I miss that???"
Tunnel vision is both a blessing and a curse, lol. The amount of people who try to jet pack through the cactus to get to the Sun station warp is crazy.. (even crazier is the amount that actually make it, lol) Everybody plays differently and I've seen many people say they had their AHA moments when they weren't playing the game and were just thinking about while laying in bed or doing something else. Just keep doing you, try to avoid spoilers. Been loving the play through!
At around 1:08:00, your ship came through the black hole behind you and you warped back to Brittle Hollow then proceeded to jetpack away instead of just going through the black hole again to your ship!!! Ahhh, you’re killing me 😅
It's fascinating! You solve some riddles much faster than I do, while there are some riddles that I solve faster than you. It's interesting how certain things are clearer to one person than to another.
Great job getting to the Sun Station so cleanly! That part gave me a lot of trouble
I hope you eventually do a super cut that cuts together all the episodes into one.
I plan to! :) whenever that may be lol I will make sure it happens!
I think I speak for a lot of the Outer Wilds community. "Bruh." lol
LOL
baaaabyyyyy why don't you come ooooover
sun's bout to go supernnooooova
never seen someone go back to the high energy lab so often... its crazy how impatient you seem to be when it comes to looking around a room and observing thats happening yet your persistence to keep following tunnel vision on
Deeply frustrating on occasion lol, like you can see the power coming *in*, what happens to its flow when you throw the switch, and think "Hey it must be something outside, not over there where the power is now routed"
Just a heads-up, you can take snapshots with your scout launcher without launching the probe. Handy for finding your way around ghost matter
Just to save you some time chasing a dead end, that switch in the high energy lab doesn't affect ash twin. It's literally just a switch on a cable and you can see how it changes the flow of power. The arrow between them is rumor information, not that one requires the other.
I don't think she's asking for that kind of tip
Maybe if would help to take a page from old school puzzle games and take some notes when you figure out connections. Such as which tower does what and best shortcut between a and b, instead of counting on the ship's log. It leaves out lots of infrastructure details, pictogram meanings, etc.
Nice work! Keep fiddling with things and see what works. Be the scientist the Nomai would have wanted you to be.
Having watched most of this video, I'm going to HIGHLY ENCOURAGE you to turn off notifications for comments on this video and/or try to block out any idea of what comments here are saying. Events in this video went a way that is basically going to have every person and their second cousin SCREAMING to give you hints if they can't control themselves.
But hints you've already been given about lore are part of why this video went... off the rails, in a way.
Exactly this. There are spoilers all over this comment section. It's really too bad. The OW community is usually much better about this... but sadly boys just can't help but try to save pretty girl.
::)
This episode causes me anxiety, hahahah. Some fantastic progress was had though.
You should totally check out the game Slay the Princess after you finish this one.
OH??? funny you say that, I was just looking into it the other day 👀
I second this. Another youtuber (BeccaBytes) who finished Outerwilds (and it's DLC) played Slay the Princess right after. Real amazing game.
I'd love to help and tell you about the shortcuts you've found but forgot about but I just know people will get ridiculously angry. Good luck though. I'm enjoying watching you struggle. :P
I think you have forgotten some of the stuff Gabbro told you about. Might be worth a revisit to chat him up some more since that was your 1st planet and everything was so new and overwhelming.
Welcome back, Maisy! ::)
48:10 - 10/10 for coincidental timing, no notes.
2:48:00 - FIRST TRY
You're doing well, don't read these comments
You can do it
YESSS and look at me with a free Friday night, thanks Universe ::)
Let's gooo 🥳
Also, is Boo named after the Mario ghosts? 😂
16:48 best moment!
Woohoo!!
non-spoiler hint - the power switch in the lab does something non tower related.
And this is why hints and tips are generally a bad idea. Someone hinted that she missed something in the High Energy Lab back on the Part 3 video (she did), and now she's got a very wrong idea of how things work.
@@Moleculor I helped my friend through the game not by giving him hints but by asking him to answer various questions. that way he could come to his own conclusions about things while I could still help him not veer off course. It was pretty common for him to ask himself the wrong questions and focus on the wrong more insignificant things. That being said. Not like we can really do that for Maisy
This is a spoiler hint, since it spoils discovery, which is the game.
Yeah, but she could have gotten the same thing from the “There’s more to explore here” tag on it in the log.
@@obiwanpez There's no tag. Check the video. Her log says she's done with the High Energy Lab.
Okay, this is gonna be slightly spoilery so Maisy, don't look at this comment yet, or do you're a grown up you can do what you want...
SPOILER:
Isn't there supposed to be a visual cue to the correct timing of the Ash Twin warp to the 'special place'? I could've sworn during my playthrough when it's the correct time to stand on the platform, you see the warp turn on. I feel like that never showed up on her playthrough... Do y'all remember that?
Honestly don't remember myself, don't think so, maybe the glowing just seems more pronounced and different times.
It doesnt. You may be thinking of how the return warps glow when theyre activated
@@JustJum I went and checked myself and you were right. It doesn't show up until the moment you step onto the platform. Now I'm wondering how I figured it out the first time. xD

There are hints in the black hole forge: it tells you that the warp only works when pointing within like 5° of the centre of the astral body that the receiver is on.
It also has a discussion where one Nomai is confused that one warp tower will never work because it'll never align with the body, but a Nomai replies saying that Ash and Ember twin function as the same astral body, with a shared alignment point inbetween them.
So you're meant to be able to deduce that the warp tower they're talking about is the one for the Ash Twin, since its the only one that never points towards the planet itself. And you're meant to deduce that the alignment only happens when the the sand pillar is on the warp (as that is the only time the warp tower is pointing to the shared alignment point between ash and ember).
If you're still confused about why the sun explodes, read below (SPOILER ALERT):
Yes, the Sun Station failed, and yes, the sun still explodes... about 281,042 years after the Nomai died.
It states so on the Sun Station, where you also learn about it being the end of the Sun's natural lifecycle.
But thanks to the Ash Twin Project, the supernova gives just enough juice to power a (negative) 22 minute time interval to anyone (or anything) linked with a Nomai Memory Statue
