Amazing how a lit room can appear to be that dark. I love you videos. Only wish I had this ability without cheating and watching your tutorials. None the less I am still grateful you give us this information.
I would like to thank you for all your wonderfull videos which helped me alot to go on with photography! I just tried to do this one and it turned out pretty good. Thank you!!!!
Hello Gavin, Thanks for the candle light video. I always enjoy watching your videos, partly due to the way you present in the video and also because of the topics you explore. I keep thinking it would be nice to see some videos where you use open source (or other free) software for image manipulation. I have a EOS 6D, and only have GIMP and the Canon Raw editor available. It would be good to have you using these in some of your videos. Would that be possible? Russell
Good interesting technique. Suggestion, instead of placing the jell on the flash head, why not just lay the jell on the inside bottom of the lantern. Works the same way but no hassel attaching the jet to flash head.
Hi Gavin...!! Awesome tutorial..!! I love shots like that. I have a Canon 50D and a 580EXll flashgun. Will my pop-up flash on my Canon 50D work as a master flash like that of the 60D..??
Hey this is a cool tip. A question about the gel : can we just turn the orange hue by simply setting the white balance to a high temperature (say 12000 kelvin) to fake the candlelight ?
Not shure if you read comments on the old videoes, but the godox MF12 macro flash, is super for hiding away in your scenes, to simulate a candel, a fire, a green fog ore what ever you want.
Hearing "sophie our model", and then... getting out of full screen in a hurry to check the date of the video. Still wondering if she's the same one or not. A pity you didn't reuse that lantern in the "dark potions" shoot ;)
Love your kindness and unassuming manner. You have the gift of making the technical things seem utterly accessible- you are a genius.
I absolutely love this little quick tutorials. I never use them because I can't afford the necessary equipment, but it's fun to watch all the same.

Hey Gavin U know dat you were my first photography master on TH-cam! ;)
Gavin your one of the best
Is there a benefit of using a gel over changing the temperature in raw and/or adding a filter in photoshop?
There's no pop-up flash on the 5D Mk II - you need to use to a flash cord, an infrared transmitter like the STE-2, or radio transmitters. Ken
Wow, how young were you two? Great video. Would you do 8t different today.
Another good video. Gavin comes across as such a nice guy compared with some of the arrogant 'tutors' you can find on youtube.
your works are very very good thank you again.
can you 15 minute photo challenge weeding or take and make great weeding album? :)
Hey this is a cool tip.
A question about the gel : can we just turn the orange hue by simply setting the white balance to a high temperature (say 12000 kelvin) to fake the candlelight ?
Just lovely
Not shure if you read comments on the old videoes, but the godox MF12 macro flash, is super for hiding away in your scenes, to simulate a candel, a fire, a green fog ore what ever you want.
hey Gav.. :D does the 5D Mk ll works like 60d with remote flash ??
Hearing "sophie our model", and then... getting out of full screen in a hurry to check the date of the video. Still wondering if she's the same one or not.
A pity you didn't reuse that lantern in the "dark potions" shoot ;)
