Collectors are a bit obsessive and nitpicky and that's actually good to give feedback to Hot Toys on how to improve. At the same time, collectors can sometimes fly too close to the sun and need to step back once in a while. I think it's a solid sculpt structurally, but the eyes are somewhat robotic for lack of a better word. Anyways, great review as always Justin!! Cheers!!

Thank you again for another great review! First I’ve been waiting for this figure for a loooong time, just like other collectors. I almost bought the third party version you compared him to. I’m glad I passed on it! lol but I was close to getting it. However, Hot Toys has great artist sculptures! How did this head sculpt not get reworked?? Are they going to give people a replacement head sculpt in the near future, like they did with the awful Tony Stank ? Also hot toys why are we not getting full sets of hands? The price keeps creeping up little by little and we are getting less! Justine I know you will find an artist out there and get a well made Mace head sculpt! When you do please share. Fusion reactor sabers look great. But I have a question? When you compared both hot toys and fusion, fusion kicked butt! However on video it looks white light with a hint of purple. In hand can the color be seen?
I shop in Hong Kong because that is where hot toys is based. As a content creator I need to get my figures as early as possible. Sideshow, being in North America have to wait for their batch to arrive to LA before they can ship out. Sometimes this takes 3-6 months after the figure has released domestically in Hong Kong. It would be infeasible for me to shop there.

Can't wait for you to Showcase the Customize Mace Windu Figure, Friend! I bet it will be Heck a Cool when you're done! 😁😁😁👍👍
They should feed a thin LED strip, (like ones you could buy at a local hobby shop) through the saber, those LEDs are BRIGHT and would definitely do a better job than that cheap crappy effect
Also I agree that it maybe the expression that’s what’s throwing the head sculpt off, and also they decided to make the neck and the head 1 piece, which makes it impossible to incorporate the moving eyes, which makes no sense because black Adam was announced before him and his head was separate from the neck and he’s bald, but he has moving eyes. They’ve could’ve made the head and neck separate with this figure and given him moving eyes.
I think that overall this is a pretty amazing figure, but will absolutely admit the headsculpt does not look fully accurate to SLJ. I will say however, that the headsculpt actually reminds me of the Clone Wars Anakin headsculpt. I mean this in the sense that it looks like animated Mace Windu made real. Even though those character’s likeness is based off of the prequel actors, I feel like they take a slight liberty to mix the appearances on some figures. This seems least apparent on Obi Wan however, where he seems to look the closest to his IRL counterpart.
It's so funny how people complained (rightfully) and now it's waitlisted and going double on the secondary market. To me, it's like they tried to combine the animated show and Jackson together in the sculpt. I give it a 6-ish/10. It's not great I agree, but I think calling it the absolute worst is an overreaction. I don't think it's the worst sculpt ever. That title to me goes to Endgame Cap(helmeted), Batman Begins cowl and others. I'm still picking this up, because like you said, it's still Mace and I would like the character representation for my collection. Some collectors are hoping for a new version, which I do think is possible, but not for a long while, even with next year's ROTS anniversary (could be wrong as Hot Toys operates unpredictably at times). If and when a new Mace would release, I would expect it to be within the same timeframe of Darth Maul - from the original DX to now (or not LOL).
I hate that this does not come with both bare lightsaber gripping hands. It's pretty much common knowledge that jedi use their lightsabers with both hands (mostly). Hot Toys have indeed become stindgy. They want you to display him wielding his lightsaber with both hands in the clone gauntlets. Then they will correct this with a ROTS version. In general, as a rule, by default, Hot Toys should include a pair of fisted hands, a pair of gripping hands (or trigger finger grip hands if the character is a gun wielder) and a pair of relaxed palm hands, THEN the extra hands unique to the character and/or their accessories.
I honestly wish this didn't come with the clone wars armor considering it's supposed to be an AOTC version, too many things were sacrificed at the expense of those parts. No wires in sleeves, excluded hands, just disappointing.
@@revengeofthesith. Buddy, I really doubt they were ever going to put wires in the sleeves and we all know how stingy Hot Toys are with hands. Take the win.
I love how subjective head sculpts and figures in general can be. There has been figures released where collectors have said its an amazing likeness and I'm thinking "are we looking at the same figure?" It's the same with Mace, personally I adore this figure and think the likeness is very strong, but other people see something completely different. Lol, they do say all art is subjective.
Dunno why people keep recommending pop collectibles. Not one of my orders have been sent and I have a lot!....they keep stalling even though paid shipping and everything.
Hi, Justin Great review as always! I am really enjoying all of your videos. I am kind of new at collecting hot toys figures and I have some questions if you have a moment. I didn't know that there were diecast and regular version of ironman figures. Is it for every iron man figures or just some of iron man figures have two versions? I tried to do my own research but never could find clear answer. Also, are there other diecast version figures other than iron man? I am lost. Could you please provide me some explanation? Also, I am thinking about getting iron man 1/4 scale with gantry but separately instead of a set that comes with both since it's much cheaper. Will there be any difference if I have those two sets separately instead of the combined set? Thank you in advance!!
when i was a kid my favorite characters were Obi-Wan and Mace Windu but my favorite villains were Grievous and Jango I didn't like the jedi as much after that
The headsculpt looks like Hot interpretation of the Clone Wars Mace. Similar to that of Anakin, Obi Wan, Ahsoka etc. I don't hate it but it could be better.
I wish I could say "We need to start voting with our wallets" when it comes to figures that are released that are subpar: bad likenesses like this and Kate Bishop, single jointed female mandalorians, neck bulge spideys, etc. That way we can show Hot Toys, that we are not spending our hard earned money on bad releases. However, they know they can get away with it because it's most likely our only chance to get these figures and we're gonna have FOMO cause it's the last figure we need to complete a set, have a representation of the character, etc so we end up buying these figures which I'm definitely guilty of as well. My only hope is that InArt continues to be successful and have innovation after innovation and Hot Toys will feel the pressure that they can't keep being lazy with some of these figures
For me, this is one of those figures where the likeness is far too off. I am not a collector who really cares all that much about the exact likeness to the actor who portrayed them but when it looks like a distant cousin to the actor it just doesn’t scream “you are getting a figure that is worth $250+” to me. I may pick him up down the line because I love the clone wars look but it’s just not acceptable that Hot Toys did so well on SLJ likeness on Nick Furry but not this figure. It’s almost like they were trying to give us a better sculpt but it turned out worse and they stuck with it. Hot toys were being very lazy with this release.
I think it’s the expression that’s throwing the headsculpt off. I think the likeness is there, but it’s obscured by the thorough brow and squinted eyes.
@@withtheforce I’d still get this figure, but imma get him next year, I’ve got my mind set on 3 other figures this year: black Adam, clone wars obiwan, and bane 2.0
Hot Toys probably feels this is a good (or good enough) sculpt, so the odds of them doing it again in the next decade or two are very slight. So, collectors are given a choice by HT - buy this and accept it, or don't buy it and probably never have a Windu HT sixth scale figure.
I guess I’m in the clear minority here, but I think the sculpt looks pretty great! I had NO difficulty seeing the likeness from just about every angle. The 3/4 angle was probably the strongest, but overall I’m VERY pleased! Can’t wait to get him in the lineup!

Yeah they didn’t make many and some (like me) will settle for this as it may be our only Windu
@@DesignedAssassin It’s not a win for me because the CW parts will sit in the box forever, I never planned on using them lol
Yeah it’s so strange that they did that!
Idk why it gives me the vibe that the sculptor modeled half of the head and mirrored it for the other side

Yeah for sure! It can be very subjective
Dunno why people keep recommending pop collectibles. Not one of my orders have been sent and I have a lot!....they keep stalling even though paid shipping and everything.
I hope it gets sorted!
Hi, Justin
Great review as always!
Thank you! Not all have two versions, you can look up on hot toys website which ones exist. It will take some research on your part.
when i was a kid my favorite characters were Obi-Wan and Mace Windu
but my favorite villains were Grievous and Jango
I didn't like the jedi as much after that
Great faves!
I mean I don’t see them doing another one so I got no option but to get him.
Fair enough
Great review!
Thanks!
That's Dave Chappelle 😂
Lol
I don’t see the issue. It’s a perfect figure. Looks like Sam Jackson circa 2002 Windu to me. I love mine!
Glad you like it!
Nice job Justin
Thanks!
Another great vid!
Thanks!
@@JustinsCollection no problem you deserve it!
If you think a purple lightsaber is awesome, give me a thumbs up 👍!
It is!
What happened to the head sculpt. That's shocking compared to the box art 😬
Even the box art is rough
The headsculpt looks like Hot interpretation of the Clone Wars Mace. Similar to that of Anakin, Obi Wan, Ahsoka etc. I don't hate it but it could be better.
Yeah agreed
Might just get this for the sole purpose of using the attire and body for a custom plo koon
Oh!
Can you install Nick Fury’s headsculpt onto this body and display it as an alternate version Mace Windu who somehow survived Palpatine?
They look like different neck connectors to me
Why not have a custom head made?
I am working on it!
Is hot toys with the money because I’m thinking about buying Palpatine and that will be my very first hot toy
Depends how much you like the figure
I’m a big fan of return of the Jedi Palpatine
I'll take the usb saber over batteries 100% even if I have to buy a $5 cable.
Fair enough
Crazy how the SH one looks more like Samuel than a hot toys lol
True!
That's not mace, that is Cera Dunda from Jedi fallen order... Or their 50 50 hybrid
Damn
Face sculpt isn’t too terrible. Looks like Windu.
But not Sam Jackson to me
Technically the head sculp looks like the British singer Seal..
Interesting
the old sideshow mace looks good for a 10 year old figure
Yeah
nah you're being too harsh on the head sculpt... pretty spot on. but to each their own opinion
Yeah likeness is subjective I don't see it personally but I'm glad you do!
Jedi always have simple outfits so the headsculpts have to be top of the line. Mace's head sculpt is just breaking this figure for me
Agreed
This is NOT Samuel L Jackson 😭😭😭
Yeah unfortunately
Youre take on the sculpt is right. Too frowny 🤨😂
Thanks!
i mean the face sculpt looks like the clone wats animated show however that looked nothing like Sam Jackson either
Agreed
I will never use the clone wars braclets on my Mace. I don't like the idea that jedi wear armour
Oh ok
Yeah its easier said than done
The head sculpt look more based off the clone wars rather than sam Jackson

Fair enough honestly
I think it’s the expression that’s throwing the headsculpt off. I think the likeness is there, but it’s obscured by the thorough brow and squinted eyes.
@@Slam_duncan03 yeah I can totally see that
@@withtheforce I’d still get this figure, but imma get him next year, I’ve got my mind set on 3 other figures this year: black Adam, clone wars obiwan, and bane 2.0
Hot Toys probably feels this is a good (or good enough) sculpt, so the odds of them doing it again in the next decade or two are very slight. So, collectors are given a choice by HT - buy this and accept it, or don't buy it and probably never have a Windu HT sixth scale figure.
Yeah maybe, that sound about right
