Why Saudi Arabia is Investing Billions in Sport

  • Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund, which has more than $600 billion in assets under management, has been investing across the sporting world. Money from the fund has been used to host major events and purchase established groups within sectors, and many people have accused the country of using sports to wash over allegations of human rights abuses in recent years. So this is the story of Saudi Arabia’s attempt to own world sport.

@HairOfTheDog2000 It's PR/marketing, and marketing costs money. Just the same as corporates buying advertising or hiring actors to endorse products, they're trying to re mould their image.

Tell me what is the past? No, my dear, do not say stupid things. You, the West, sit on your asses and believe what you see on television, like donkeys who believe anything they see. You must be educated, and while you talk about the bad past, look at your country, what it did to Iraq and Libya, and support Israel and your modern problems, and killing is a common thing for you. I do not trust what your eyes see. Search and open your mind. This is your media, O West. You are trying to distort the images of Arabs in any way

@@j3en534 The western definition of human rights is the ability to fuck anyone.
Saudi Arabia has good and free education, free healthcare. Saudis are full in world class universities around the world for those who got rejected from the local universities that 3 of them ranked in the best 500 worldwide.
Oil exists in Africa, Venezuala, Iraq, and many failing states, but the Saudis have strong management that makes them happier than some European nations like Italy, and high rank Human Development index, and Quality of Life index.
