the more i see of macyn taylor the more i think she has a photographic memory an a genius on top of that..i will never understand why she aint world famous..i love how she plays great guitatest long forgoten by the main stream media
51MontyPython. She received a Bachelors at 17 and a Masters at 19 from UWM. One of her instructors was Leo Kottke. Yes, she took lessons, lots of them.
The lick right after the big nicely done E string bend at ~4:45 is just amazingly cool and well-executed with the appropriate funk. This lady is truly one of those uber prodigies and I'm happy to see that. Leo will be proud! Kudos to Ms Macyn!!!
Macyn! you are awesome and inspiring! I'm an old aircraft mechanic and truck driver with a few guitars laying around and you inspire me to pick them up, thank you for your young enthusiasm and expertise! I forgot how fun it is to play! buggs
I can hardly believe that anyone beside Kottke himself is able to play this difficult piece - and in what a manner! The slowed down tempo doesn't matter, the mood of the piece is as if played be the master - by another master! Uwe, Tübingen, Germany
busker12 I practice and practice and practice.Still trying to get my mustle memory working in my hand.My brain says almost the opposite of my hand..lol.I watch your hands while you play and study..Thank you
You have a great sound.... but wow..an $8800 Petros guitar (base price)....James Taylor plays an Olson that is a few thousand dollars less... I thought I was indulging my daughter when I bought her a great old J50 Gibson...but this is a different class altogether.. Still.. can't keep her away from the blues now...Robert Johnson..Mayall..Humble Pie..Clapton..Savoy Brown. loves it all...and nails it. It's great to see kids like you' al coming back to this music.. keep going..great job!
Macyn, you've become so incredibly good! i have been a fan for a long time. This is amazing, you mean every single note and they ring true. All of them.
Love the slowed-down (relative to the original) feel. I find Kottke unlistenable b/c his tempo is just too fast for my human ears to enjoy, but this is beautiful. It makes the notes count.
Your playing reminds me alot of Charlie Byrd in that you seem to have a strong blues and classical influences. Its amazing to me. I would love to see you live.
Your playing is helluva inspirational! You do amazig things with Kottke music :))) Is it based on tabs from Stropes? Huh, It would be great to hear some reedition of Ragamuffin by Hedges some day… you was playing it stunning in the old video. I wonder how could it sound now. Anyway - mint playing!
I don't even like an acoustic guitar...I have been playin electrics for 40 yrs, but this gal makes me want to go and get one...or two...what is a busker?
I am always "jaw dropped" when I see you play. I play too -- been playing for years... but I don't play like you can. Probably never will. I would pay to come watch you play... easily
I've been playing since I was seven. Every song has a different learning curve. Thanks for listening.

Anyone who takes on a kotke tune deserves praise.
Especially if they absolutely nail it .
Finding this made my day ... a supremely talented young woman playing my favorite Leo Kottke song!
I must have watched this performance over 50 times, and still it blows me away. It really is extraordinary.

I keep coming back to this and the fisherman you get better with age in all ways.

You're a very talented player! You make it look easy! Inspiring for me and others I'm sure.
This girl does a great job on Kottke songs. Not that she doesn't sound good on other songs, she does!
This is so impressive! Great job, Macyn.

Seriously, I think I'm going to just put my guitars back into the closet now. You got skills girl. That was a real treat to hear.

This is my favorite of Kottke's songs. Great job! Please, keep playing. I wonder how fast you can play it now... :)
Nice groove you have going there; especially important on this tune or it begins sounding repetitive. Nice clean double stops too. Good job!
Very nice : )
The entrance riff was very catchy :D
I dont remember when I subbed to you! but i see why i did!! your a legend!! amazing!! :D

Nice! Nice! Nice! It sounded like I was listening to Leo himself. :-)
iwas having a real bad day, having to give up my dog after 10 good years but the day improved when i heard the fisherman played by you
I hadn't listen to this before. You did more than stay with it the whole way through, it sounded second nature.
