    It is really hard to cut up the leaves with all the points in a small size with cake, but I bet a cake pop/truffle texture or cheesecake would work, good idea

    I live in Canada :)

  • @yoyomax12
    @yoyomax12  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    The problem is trying to cut out intricate details with cookie cutter, cakes crumbles and it is very difficult to cut tiny details. I'm thinking I may try this with a cheesecake inside a cake. Doesn't that sound interesting?

    definitely not a failure. Luv the look of the cake and really luv our flag.
    thanks for the video.
    and remember this.
    For the third year in a row, our home and native land has been judged the world’s most reputable country.
    happy Canada Day.

  • @yoyomax12
    @yoyomax12  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    I thought of that, but it is very difficult cutting out the fine details of the maple leaf with a small cookie cutter, the cake crumbles easily and all you get is a big red blob.

    what do u do with the extra yolks?

  • @GreekCapGem21
    @GreekCapGem21 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    You actually don't have to cover the red pieces entirely, As long as you filled up to the side of the pieces, the cake would rise and cover the top. :) I have made something similar but with tiny hearts in cupcakes.
    Thanks for sharing Tammy! :)
    I love your videos!!

    That looks like a pretty powerful hand mixer you have. I'm jealous. Just out of curiosity, would you ever buy one of those hefty kitchen-aid stand mixers? They look great but they're so expensive. Anyway, awesome recipe, it seems surprisingly easy for a relatively intricate design!

    This is a cool cake idea! Everyone is making USA-themed stuff already and then there's one whole Canada day-themed video in my subscription box.
    You can avoid the burning by covering the top of the cake with foil when it reaches the desired brown color and let it bake until it's done, but you handled the situation just as well.
    It'd be really jerk-ish to make this, take it out of the pan, decorate the outside of the cake USA-themed, and bring it to a 4th of July BBQ or celebration. Haha..

  • @ShamanKeema
    @ShamanKeema 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Very cool! Could it be done long ways with a smaller leaf, do you think?

    What does the cake taste like? Is it very cheesy? Once I made cream cheese frosting and it really tasted like cheese. I don't know if Dutch cream cheese is different from Canadian cream cheese but I don't want my cake to taste like cheese as much as the frosting did... I probably won't make this specific cake but there are other recipes with cream cheese I want to try and I don't want to mess it up :/
