Hey everyone, The Darkness have just released their new album "Hot Cakes" which also includes a studio version of "Street Spirit". So buy this record. All the Radiohead fans out there: they never meant to insult you, it was just a tribute to an amazing band.
When someone covers a song you shouldn't compare it to the original that's just stupid because obviously everyone is gonna think the original is better,look at this as a whole new song and listen to the variation between the clean and distorted sounds on the guitar,how well put together they made it and the power of Justin's voice as he hits the chorus...this is a great song and anyone who thinks it's not is probably comparing it to the way radio head do it

If they just played the same open chords as in the proper song using distortion it would sound all muddy and you wouldn't be able to make out the second notes, which is why they changed it into a riff on 1 or 2 strings.
I don't feel like their fucking with it. Their not camping it up, their just amping it up. I think this version is still true to the intent. The despair is still there. Ultimately, it's artistic interpretation. I, for one, am happy to have heard this, and so are some others. Don't listen if you don't like it. You're wasting time tearing others down. when i first heard the radioheard the radiohead version i thought : whoa!!! this song is awsome! but i though that it would be x10 times awsome if there was a nice drum beat and some distortion on guitars at a point!! great cover
