    🙋🏽‍♀️Thanks for your excellent review. I just wanted to know what spec your Mac book Air is?

    • @richertz
      @richertz  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s the 2020 MacBook Air - the 8 core with 16gb Ram and a 1tb hard drive.

    hey! been pretty stuck picking a new laptop. Need a work comuter for music production. been unsure about getting a new mac book air vs getting a apple refurbished 2020 macbook pro.... both end up being about the same price. The 2020 pro doesnt have the m1 chip though. any thoughts? of course apple store is telling me to get the new one but not sure how i feel about it

      I’d get the M1 now. I made this video a while ago and most of the issues are resolved. Stay away from the pro models unless you go for the 14 inch and 16 inch more expensive ones. The nice thing about the Air is no fan so it’s silent. Also my old MacBooks used to get so dusty with the fans, but now they are fanless which is fantastic.

    Hi Ric, is it possible to run the rme babyface pro fs on battery power from the MacBook Air?

    • @richertz
      @richertz  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes just plug it in it is bus powered so will not need a separate power supply.

    • @thomashopkins2211
      @thomashopkins2211 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@richertz awesome thanks, was curious if i needed to power the rme separately from the Air if the air wasn't connected to power, wasn't sure how much power the air ports allow whilst on battery... we have constant power cuts in South Africa, so running off grid without power is essential for my workflow..

      @@thomashopkins2211 you’ll be fine with this and you get good battery from the new MacBooks as well. I also use a good powerbank so can get through a day of heavier use if needed without a power socket.

    Im looking to get the base model m1 air. Will it be enough ?? Im currently on an intel i5 8gb macbook pro from late 2013 and it just died. I only use a few instances of omnisphere and some serato sampler and only 3rd party effects i use is rc20. I dont have more than 10 instruments in a beat. will the air be enough ??

      Sorry I missed your comment somehow. New Air is a great upgrade from most macs!

    Is the 256 hard drive enough for music production

    • @richertz
      @richertz  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don’t recommend it, at least go for 512gb or you’ll find it difficult to manage. Also after time it will fill up.

    Would I struggle with 8gb ram? I'm a beat maker. I use logic and native instruments Komplete.

    • @richertz
      @richertz  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’d go with 16, I use Kontakt as well - when I tested the 8gb Mac mini M1 it was using up a lot of ram. Also it future proofs it so yes stick with 16.

    what do u think abt 14 and 13 pro? or should i get air m2 chip add storage cause if 8cpu? is good for producing i would love to but cheaper 👀

    • @richertz
      @richertz  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The best all rounder in the 14 inch M1 pro. I would avoid the M2, it runs hotter and does not give a big performance boost, plus the SSD hard drives are slower on the M2 which means transfer speeds are actually much slower. I still love my M1 air, and we are still waiting for a lot of companies to update their software, as the update, the performance is improving all the time. Plus it’s cheaper to get M1.

      so this sounds good for the imac 24 m1 with 16gig ram, not much on you tube , thanks

    • @richertz
      @richertz  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@normjones6916 you should be fine, even better than the air as this will have a cooling fan (which is very quiet).
