Everything you said is pure gold. I want to point out the storyboard idea. It's genius. Some of our events were filmed by a friend, who's actually a filmmaker, and before opening the gates he just simply summarized what could be concidered as a good shot. I'm talking about 18 years ago, where the consumer technology wasn't as hightech as nowadays, as well as the club equipment. Long story short: he directed the setup and lights a way, that was most benefitial for the camera he used (forgot the brand, sorry)
Excellent tips, just to add to this it's surprising how good the ZV-E1 internal microphone is in clubs, also how great it is to have the clean 12,800 ISO. With a small Viltrox 20mm f/2.8 and the camera set to shutter priority, you can match the shutter to the frequency of the lights to avoid flicker and the camera will close the aperture during moments of bright light, it works really well. Also a mix of gyroflow and unstabilised footage.
Thanks heaps for this really helpful video mate! I am just starting out and have done a few videos for Dj's and clubs and I definitely need to put more planning into my shots beforehand! Been following ya for a bit on insta and absolutely love your stuff!
Oh dope bro! Yeah planning for me was one of the biggest game changer's that helped me level up. Its kind of boring to do but even writing bullet points down on your phone app or txting them to yourself will make sure you dont forget.
Very good video, im very curious what you had your rode pro set to when you showed the difference between the two clips? Doing my first gig this weekend and would help a ton!
Subscribed with bell! Thanks for those advices. This is the best club videography video tutorial I have found on TH-cam. I would be interested in which focal lengths you are using. I imagine, that wide shots will look the best. Would it be enough to run around with a 24mm 1.4 all night to have a pretty wide view, or do you think it is necessary to have it even wider, like 12 -15mm full frame? Do you sometimes need a 50mm or even 85mm to get closer to people but yet not anoying them while dancing?
Lenses really depend on your preference and location. IMO I think its best when there is a mix of wide and zoomed lenses. 24mm 1.4 is a pretty decent sort of lens for this type of work.
I been filming this summer as a beginner using the DJI OSmo pocket but I now have a black magic 6K Pro so I would like some lense recommendations for night club after movies
Great video! how do you set your iso? in connection with the suddenly emerging stage lights? underexpose first so you don't overexpose when the lights and lasers come in?
Hey Davis,, thanks for your tips.. As an amateur, starting out to make live rock clips,, they've been helpful. Although I don't need the action perhaps that a nightclub requires , a little creativity for rock is handy.. I'm still struggling to get my head around some post production issues.. Do you use LUTS or other overlays?.. I noticed your overlay pack, but they don't seem to be demo'd clearly (for me anyway).. I've looked at tons of LUTS,, invariably they're good for well lit environments, and become noisy for flashing coloured lights in a low light situation.. I can do some of my own, but looking at perhaps an easier way out,, or at least a landing place I can tweak?
I suck with direction in the moment.. Coming from filming mostly cars and product photography I feel awkward telling people to do something again or asking something of someone did you ever have this starting out?
I’ve done photography for yeaaaars now and I’m about to dip my toe in videography at a club I shoot at. I know I’m gonna be rusty to start off with but hopefully something happens! 😂🤟🏻
Thanks for watching, make sure to SUBSCRIBE! :)

Great video! To be more technical, you're shooting manually focusing, or letting the lens pick up the work and touching to focus at key moments?

yo! May know what white balance did you use if you dont mind?
Great video!
how do you set your iso? in connection with the suddenly emerging stage lights? underexpose first so you don't overexpose when the lights and lasers come in?
yeah i really want to know you set your exposure in that dynamic lighting situation especially for using slog 3

hey ! what are ur settings for techno parties ? -10db?
2:52 what's the name of the song in the background?
Did you use a gimbal for your shots?
I’ve done photography for yeaaaars now and I’m about to dip my toe in videography at a club I shoot at. I know I’m gonna be rusty to start off with but hopefully something happens! 😂🤟🏻
Good luck with it bro, I’m sure you will smash it!!
Literally same bro
my exact situation rn
what about white balance? if your lights constantly changing
hey sir, let me use your footage for complate my homework to edit a video please, just a few second on it. Thank you very much. You lit it 🔥🔥
Wicked video mate! Any tips to overcome LED flicker?
Change you shutter speed, even if you have to break the 180 rule..
@@DavisSutcliffe been wondering the same thing, cheers
What is your camera settings / record resolution usually? (I have an a7 iv) Do you use any LUTs?
Any lense recommendations ?
Do you film with gimbal or handheld?
I also wondered that
Looks like both
What camera do you use and what color profile and settings ?
My question is do you pay to get in and shoot the videos or do you contact the people in charge of the venue and work for them?
I started off working for the dj’s. I would just message anyone and everyone on Instagram DM’s
@@DavisSutcliffe ok, another question, right now I just use my phone to record, what would you say which equipment would be good for a beginner?
@@QuinnAlsbarryson your phone is a perfect camera to start with!
Name of intro music ?
What was you shutter speed and frame rate for the recap you did? Seems like it’s more then double the frame rate.
I filmed at 50 fps and exported at 24FPS
🔥🔥
Thannnnkkkk yooou
What you do with lasers ?
I full send it, and hope for the best!
yoman yoman
