Rab is an ancient town situatied on an island which shares its name - the island of Rab, located in the northern Adriatic sea just off the Croatian coast. It has a very long and rich history, going back to stone age with archeological sites found all over the island. The town of Rab was first settled by Illyrians in 350 BC and later it was part of the Roman Empire (from 3rd century BC to 6th century AD). Its glory days began in the 11th century century and lasted all the way to 13th century, when it was governed by Croatian rulers, as well as members of Venetian republic in the form of a free Adriatic commune. In the 15th century it was sold to Venice and remained under their rule all the way to late 18th century and Napoleon's conquests. After the fall of Napoleon Rab came under Austrian rule which ended in WWI when Rab, along with other parts of Croatia, joined the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes - later to become Yugoslavia and finally Croatia.
All those historical shifts and turns left the town of Rab with unique landmarks which speak eloquently of its rich history. So lets explore Rab! :)

What’s better -3 days in Rab town or 3 days in Lopar?

I really couldn't tell cause I've never been to Lopar. I think that Rab is bigger and has more sights to see. Maybe you could do both, they are quite close.
