I just got back from Hungary 3 days ago after spending about 17 days traveling the country, with most of it in the west around Lake Balaton. However, I did spend a week in Budapest and it was absolutely incredible, especially the Christmas Market around Saint Sebastian Basilica. I was able to visit most of the attractions listed in this video except the Citadella and the Ruin Pubs. It's strange that I missed the pubs. I spent a half day around the Synagogue and walked around much of the neighborhood, but I don't recall seeing any signs for the pubs. I wish I found this video before I went. There's a lot of great information here. The Terror House is not to be missed. Great video!

Been lucky to visit Budapest 3 months before COVID hit, and loved the people architecture and the city. Would love to visit again.
I want to go to Budapest when I have $6000.00 saved up for everything.
I was only in Budapest for non-consecutive days but I found time to go to the Terror House museum and a similar nightclub to what he was showing in the former Jewish Ghetto. Both were really cool and I wish I had had more time to explore the city. It's beautiful and I think it has something for everyone, whether you like modern amenities or historical sites

So many amazing places to visit in Budapest. This is a nice list, but two I'd add are Memento (Statue) Park and the Hungarian State Opera House. I spent two weeks as a tourist in Budapest. It was not enough time.

I bought some coffee mugs from a lady outside the citedella last time I was there.
May 15th 2023 update: the citadel is under construction and there's no access to it anymore. Also, parts of the castle where the Fisherman's Bastion are being reconstructed but you can still walk around the construction area.
Protip: if you go to the Fisherman's Bastion early morning, it won't be as packed as in the middle of the day. There's a lot of annoying tiktokers pretty much hoarding the good spots.
Also the government is privatising castles and national monuments to party members now, and have isolated the Karmelita-monostery (where fidesz members regularily meet) from the public illegally.
Once I got hired by the hotel I'm applying for, will surely visit this places you mentioned ✨✨✨

Going to see my wife's parents in pécs for Christmas and nye. Looking forward to a little 3 week vacation! We will stay a few nights in budapest like always roaming the districts. Helps wife is Hungarian! Hope to see Christmas market here and in Austria. Need a hot wine and chimney cake!!! And ready for a langos from mitzi(sp) bear in English! Too they get to meet their first grandchild!! Honestly I need to learn the language and move there!

Sinc last january food prices went up by 70+%, and Budapest is in a stand-off with the government, because along with a few other more educated country-capitals it's te only place with an oppositional major, and because of that the one-party-government is basically taking away most government funds and a lot of authoritive rights from Budapest and raised their taxes on basis of "civid crisis" and now "war crisis".

Budapest is an amazing place, first of all at night it looks like a john wick movie and at day the buildings and the architecture the place has is incredible. It has both trash euro nightlife and chill vibe, whatever you are into. The food was bad though. Most young people eat fast food because it is very accessible.
