I went to the one in LA and I'm still beating myself up because before they opened the doors I was standing within 5 feet of Yoko Taro but figured it was just someone in cosplay because why would he be out in the plaza outside the theater. None the less it was an amazing experience.
I saw your thumbnail and decided to do a quick search to see if they would be performing anywhere near me soon. Long story short, my daughter and I will be seeing this concert in March! I might not have gotten seats if I hadn't seen your video!
If one of these tours ever passes by close enough for me to go, the Nier concert is definitely on my to-do list. I was lucky enough to catch the Sonic Symphony in December, and that was pretty cool to see, especially since that series has been a part of most of my life.
I was at the Berlin concert on Sunday and it was maybe the best musical experience of my life. J'nique cried when she thanked the audience and that hit me so hard lol. Not that the entire music was waaaay too much for me already. It was insane.
Thank you very much for this wonderful video. For about the past hour or so I've been searching for snippets of the concert, in order to show my friend who is considering attending. I think you did a great job in sharing your experience with us (you're so lucky!!! 🥹 what I would do to meet Okabe-san, Emi, J'Nique; amazing!), as well as sharing your thoughts and opinions on the current state of classical music and its future alongside video game music. This all just makes me even more excited! I'll be attending the concert this Friday in Atlanta. Thank you so much again! 😊👏🏽
It has been two days since the concert in Paris and I still can't process what I have lived yet. It happened so fast. And it was sooo good! Watching and listening to everyone's thoughts and feedback on the concert really emphasize how loved the NieR franchise is. It felt like you could be friend with anyone here. Sadly Yoko Taro wasn't there but god actually hearing Okabe-san, Emi and J'Nique in real life is a dream come true. "See you next time!" like Okabe-san said. Glory to mankind. ♥
After listening to your thoughts on the concert, I am getting even more excited for the upcoming show in Bangkok! Looking forward to March 2024 already!
That's amazing. I just wanted to add that if somebody is interested to know more about Keiichi Okabe - there's a really good interview or even more like a movie with him "Keiichi Okabe, creating the music of NieR: Automata".
I went! I wasn't all that far from you, actually. Farther back and to your right. Spectacular experience. I was blown away by all of it, but A Beautiful Song was out of this fucking world. Special mention for me since it isn't one of my top favorites from the OST. And yeah, dude. That merch line. I got there at 6:30 and was barely halfway through it when the shown was about to start. I hung out with an incredible Emil cosplayer and a girl who stayed behind to get our merch so we could see the start of the show. (If you read this, Jennifer, thanks again!)
I am freshly back from Berlin (I went on Saturday) and am still blown away by the experience. I was also so happy to realise we had an old "friend" as the conductor since Eric Roth was the conductor for the Genshin Impact concert in Düsseldorf in January, as well. It was such a fun realisation! And I have loved every minute of both concerts! (Though I admit, the choir in Nier was an amazing experience that gave me goosebumps more than once.)
It was so amazing! I now hope they make a remake of Drakengard so it is playable without having to pay hundredsto just get a copy of it.@@martinadubois1727
I caught this concert in Vancouver the week before you saw it. It was a really cool story lead experience. I was worried they were not going to play Kaine, but of course they did as the encore. Emi and J'nique sounded fantastic and my home orchestra and choir did an amazing job. I've also seen Distant Worlds last year, and Arnie Roth (same conductor for our concert) has been doing Distant Worlds for 15+ years, so yes, video game music definitely can hold its own in a concert hall.
Hope they do another tour soon. I couldn’t attend this one and it is truly one of my biggest dreams since Nier has truly had a huge impact in my life. I also encountered this channel first due to Nier and stuck ever since. Love your music analysis on video games. Nier is a clear example of how outstanding and profound video game music can be and this channel, with your music knowledge and experience, has really brought to light all the composers and works of art in the industry to get the recognition they deserve. Glory to mankind!
i went to this concert with my college roommate! it looks like you were actually just a few rows in front of us...we're even in the video! i wish i could have said something in person, but i find your videos so compelling and wonderful. i'm constantly recommending them to my friends. keep it up!
I was lucky enough to attend the first Los Angeles Nier Orchestra back in early 2020 (before lockdowns) and then see it again last month in LA. I own the original Nier Orchestra album and it was an incredible show back in 2020. But this new 2024 tour is phenomenal. They've completely changed and expanded their arrangements and it sound so much fuller, especially when paired with the new live visuals. (I REALLY hope they release a studio recording of this new version!) I'm unsure if you've listened to the old Nier Orchestra recordings, but they departed quite a bit from the way the tracks usually sound on the OST so they're their own unique experience. (Especially on songs like "Mourning" and "The Wretched Automatons.") But I really loved the richness of these new orchestral arrangements and felt they used the vocalists and orchestra to a much fuller potential. I'm so glad they're able to update and expand the show! I come from the world of classical ballet, not opera. But I agree that more "traditional" art forms could learn from the successes of shows like these.
Went to the one in Dallas. It was hauntingly beautiful. Kept on haveing shivers going through my body during the whole concert. And to add to it, it was my very first concert I went to live.
I got to go to the 2020 concert in Rosemont and the one thing I missed was the presence of J'Nique Nicole because I think the power in her vocals are a really striking contrast to Emi's and it's one of the things that always makes me stop when I'm in the desert in Automata. Getting to go back just last week and hear her do A Beautiful Song and Weight of the World and that reprise of Song of the Ancients live was everything, I really hope she continues to be a major presence and sound in Nier's future. Sad I missed you in the blur of faces that was Rosemont, I've been a big fan of your earnest and honest energy in the vgm music space since I came across your channel and would've loved to meet you! Cheers 🌸
I was also lucky enough to attend the concert and documented my experience. When Fleeting words played I was crying the whole time. The concert was amazing. Thank you for sharing your experience! ☺️
I was at the Berlin concert today and it was amazing! Kaine was insanely good too. After the concert J'nique Nicole thanked the whole audience and then said this is a dream come true to her and started crying.. And like the pussy I am, I of course started crying too lol. I wish I could've grabbed a CD from the merch shop, but they were sold out so quickly. Did you get one? I wonder what's on there and if I could get it elsewhere :/
@@PinePizzaI actually got the last one that was available at the Chicago Concert. You can imagine the crowd behind me when I was told and the woman said it was like I won the lottery. The CD has music from Replicant and Automata and a hidden CD from the first game too. I’m pretty sure you can find the collection online. I haven’t checked though to see if it’s being scalped. Unfortunately it probably is. Glad you had an amazing time at the Berlin concert. 😊
I'm glad I wasn't the only one who felt like Shadowlord was as incredible as it was. Everyone knows how great the tracks like Song of the Ancients and A Beautiful Song are (they were also fantastic, bless the voices of Emi Evans, J'nique Nicole, and the choir). But, Shadowlord had that connection, like you said, to the classical arts, but still had the ascpets of modern music that made it feel like a video game soundtrack.
I've been following your channel from the start. I just got back from the Orlando Concert and it was breathtaking. I've only seen a handful of orchestra's and this was just a surreal experience. Nier is just the best.
Hey Marco, it's absolutely INSANE that you got to interact with Emi and Okabe! The things I'm hearing make me extremely excited as my friend and I just booked tickets to the Atlanta concert about a week ago. I used to be a musician and it has been at least 4 years since I've been in a concert hall setting and I'm extremely excited to go back, even moreso now after your video! Thanks for sharing your experience and hope for VGM's success, I agree with everything you've said! (What kind of merch did they have there btw? 👀)
My time in the LA one was phenomenal. And here I thought we had a recap and I missed my chance to give you a high five and or hug. The music by itself was an experience. Then the graphics itself was another one. Then you need to go back and experience them both together. That’s the concert making it easy to do.
I finally got to witness this glorious event in Georgia. I was hesitant to watch this video to avoid spoilers but I am so glad to hear we had a similar experience. The energy & respect from the crowd was so great as genuine fans of Keichi Okabe. I was absolutely blown away by A Beautiful Song, live.
What you say about opera and orchestras in this video resonates a lot with me because I've been to 3 orchestra concerts in the past year, and all three were amazing experiences I will remember all my life. All three were video game related. And if they had a tour every few years for the same games I'm in love with, I would go every year it's on. Hearing live music (even through speakers) is an entirely new experience. I was lucky enough to attend one in an small auditorium, with the proper acoustics and zero speakers, all raw music from the instruments. It was mind blowing and eye opening, it made me tear up just by being slapped across the face by the "pure" sounds of the instruments.
Saw it in London the day before last and hoo boy I was a mess! Fought back the tears through Song of the Ancients and Emil, before finally ugly crying through all of Kainé ToT an unforgettable experience!
I wa sso excited for the concert in Barcelona and I couldnt get a ticket, they all sold out in 4 hours, all in with I was at work. I swear I felt so frustrared I wanted to scream, but at least I still can hear it everywhere. Glad for those who got to see it, and wish there can be another one relatively soon again, hopefully i can get a ticket!
It was great in Dallas. Very glad I didn’t miss it, easily the best use of a choir and vocals of any video game concert I’ve seen yet! I was also impressed at the added story elements and the way they made me cry about an album release timeline. It’s very clear the people involved understand that the NieR series and the music releases have only gotten where they are thanks to the enduring passion of the fanbase.
I saw ya while I was in the merch line and wanted to say hi, but didn't have anyone to save my spot. That line was truly a nightmare 😭. Glad you enjoyed the show!
I went to the LA concert and it blew me away. Emi Evans' talent cannot be understated. I couldn't believe her voice is real and she sounds exactly like she does in the OST. Just perfect.
This video makes me so happy. I love NieR with my whole heart and it's the reason why my dream job is to be a writer for games. Yoko Taro has inspired me so much, and it saddens me how little people know of it, especially NieR Replicant.
I travelled to Dallas from NC for this concert. Right as we were taking our seats, I got a voicemail from back home that my dog was hit by a car and killed. Took everything I had to try to keep it together, made it through 3 songs before I had to walk out in tears. So bummed I missed the rest of it.
I didn't watch your video before because I went to the last date in Paris 3 days ago. It was just like you said. The experience was amazing, breathtaking and absolutly magical ! My seat was amazingly perfect (4th row just in front of the choir and the violins and I could feel the music, the vibration, the intensity. Everything was perfect, the audience was respectful and focused. I even brought my dad with me (who knew nothing about Nier) and he told me he loved it because it was so good and easy to follow even for someone out of this "universe". Fabulous experience that I hope I can witness again one day :) As always, thanks for this video on your experience and I'm glad you enjoyed the concert ^^
whenever I hear Nier, Final Fantasy, or even Chrono Trigger music I start to cry. Those stories and the memories bound to those games for me are priceless. I'm looking forward to seeing distant worlds here in Japan once a date is announced.
I was there too! I also attended the one in 2020. Listening to this music live is the most magical experience ever. :) These games mean so much to me and I feel so lucky to have experienced the concert twice so far.
I was on both concerts in Berlin and it was just magical. They could have not picked a better song than the Kainé Theme freshly arranged for the Encore, also the displayed timeline on screen was...it broke me. As someone from the original Gestalt players from almost 14 years ago, it still feels like a dream that this old game i loved so much but struggled to reach the audience it deserves came back like a phoenix and gave me these unforgettable two nights. The performance of our two goddesses live was incredible and it was an honour to meet those 5 after the show. All that's missing is Keiichi Okabe's autograph now.
@@Herr_Gamer Since it was raining and i didn't wanna come 1h before the gates opened again, i can't tell entirely. Once i arrived it still looked like a long but messy line but i guess they rerouted the right entrance, so not much better.
@@Herr_Gamer I was there 1h early on Saturday. There was a merch line at first but the right entrances destroyed that. I gave up 15min before the show started because it seemed i wasn't getting any closer. My hope is for a concert Blu-Ray at the end of the tour and maybe some items to be restockt but even so, i still have something precious reminding me of that night.
@@Herr_Gamer Thank god i read the rules. Imagine standing in line for the bag, the entrance, merch, your coat twice and a snack. The Gamescom experience but the people were cool
It's my dream alive concert from NieR. This game totally change me and writing amazing scenarios in my life. How i looking at our worlds thanks to this game make everyday more interesting and unique. Music in this form is the essence of the art, just look , all this people comes there cuz the video game, connected emotions, beautiful art, skills and performance of orchestra.
Ya love to see it. Butts in seats watching an orchestra. This is how things like classical music and theater find their roots again. Never forget that before anything was high society, it was just made for society. Shakespeare wrote the classics while also being a prolific writer of dirty jokes to his audience.
I've probably have said this a billion times already but its been amazing to be on this journey and see how far channel has come :) Nier is one of the games that really boosted my already existing interest in video game music. The game itself is also an amazing and unique experience I will never forget. Will always be one of my favourites.
your first videogame orchestra? :D all that is pretty normal for them and its always a blast, every single time. watching some scenes from the game on the screen but having the live orchestra is always just *chefs kiss* pure bliss. symphonic fantasies, cologne 2009, was my first concert of this kind and i "literally" shed tears during the secret of mana medley. i couldnt understand why :D
As someone who went to the chicago concert i couldnt agree more. I was on the 6th row from the front. Darn, lucky people to have met and taken a picture with you haha. Waiting for next announcement to the next one!
Hope you one day react to one of the many The Legend of Zelda orchestra concerts. I fell this franchise is one of the ones, along with Final Fantasy, that has really pushed this video game symphonic experience for years until it's become way more commonplace for games and now anime, too, to appear on these kinds of stages.
Great video on the concert. I really dig classical music. Really wanted to go to a Nier concert this year, but the only date in Canada was in Vancouver. Hopefully the Kingdom Hearts concerts make a comeback so you can check them out!
Too bad that in Italy those kind of concerts never take place. Must've been a good experience, thanks for sharing. As you said, videogame music is a thing, it connects with a lot of people. Let's hope it continues in this direction.
I'm stoked you got to see this, it sounds like it was an amazing experience! I'm going to a concert here in the UK in May I believe which is a complilation of different video game music but your more generic mainstream stuff. I'd LOVE to see something like NeiR performed live but there don't seem to be many opportunities for it here in the UK.
@@kyro8581 yeah getting to London isn’t the greatest for me it’s quite the trek. It’s a shame they don’t do other venues like Manchester or somewhere more up north.
I was there on the 10th in Berlin. It was so beautiful, I only didn't cry because I knew I had makeup on lol. I had vip tickets with the best view and with meeting the crew. Yoko taro and yosuke saito were literally sitting in the row in front of me, I sat behind saito. I am also friends with Emi Evans so I got to meet her as well and chat before the concert. I'm still not sure if I dreamt it up.
I went to Berlin concert last Saturday. It was absolutely amazing! By the way funny how you started the video using The Lost Shrine track from Replicant, since this is my wife's favourite track, however it's never used in any of the concerts sadly.
Just had my experience here in my country, Berlin. I must say, this was something else. While i do enjoy rock concerts or festivals, i think soundtrack music like these deserve a lot more attention. The whole building was full, i didn't get the T-Shirt, only the original OSTs. Nonetheless, wonderful experience. Btw will you be attending the Elden Ring symphonic concert as well?
In regards to what you said about video game music standing on its own, and changing your perspective slightly. I feel like I am somewhat there too. Although, it is a core belief of mine that it stands on its own. However, in terms of the interactivity, I feel like the music plays on more senses than listening, as the interactive and visual element to it can be a part of the music in terms of guiding which heart strings to pull on. The music will pull on those strings regardless, based on you as a person. Just as music does. However, the interactive element comes with video game music guiding the order in which those strings are pulled, as a package. In concerts such as this, they do that too. It's the same way in which how you arrange tracks in a concert to pull you in different directions. There's a meta aspect to music in-general like that. With video game music I feel like the meta aspect for it is slightly different than how one approaches traditional music, although all the music itself is the same.
OMG I was at the Vancouver show last night and went to the meet and greet - I speak Japanese, and as I was chatting with him Keiichi Okabe turned to Keiichi Saito and they both were like "Oh! You have a very nice voice!" -- I was so flustered and honored that most of my grammar went completely south after that lol XD Emi Evans voice was honest to god indescribable live. Otherworldly... what a treat to hear her and J'nique singing live together.
Im so jealous... while this concert is coming to germany it is at the opposite side of the country from me so sadly not easy to make a trip to see it :( one day i will hear song of the ancients, weight of the world and all the othere amazing songs live
Neat trick - if you aren't fussy about your merch, just want a little souvenir (souveNIER lol) for the night, wait until everyone has left at the end of the show and the booth begins to pack up. I bought my music box then so I could have the guests sign it for me as a memento. but tbh...I DO already own a lot of my dream merch, and I go to Japan travelling a bunch (headed there in 5 days lol) SO this might not be the route for everyone, especially if you want a poster or book or program. There were tshirts and music boxes left mostly at the very end. ... but honestly, I feel like the EXPERIENCE itself, the MEMORY is your most precious merch! kinda a waste to stand in line for something physical (some people stood in line through parts of the concert ;_;) when the memory is really what is priceless. ...If you wanna get there early, people lined the block a good hour before the doors opened to try and buy stuff before the show. :D Which might be kinda fun cuz you can kill some time chatting with fellow fans xD
@@nursehellamusic Thanks for the advice! I heard they were selling vinyls and I have been craving more NieR vinyls since getting the 10 + 1 years boxset. Was mostly hoping that they're selling the actual osts on vinyl cause they're not available on the site anymore. Highly doubt it, though

Thank you for sticking with Nier. Good to have you on the team.
I attended the one in LA, and it was an incredible experience. Such beautiful music and an intriguing story, which, of course, is canon.
Fabulous experience that I hope I can witness again one day :)
As always, thanks for this video on your experience and I'm glad you enjoyed the concert ^^
whenever I hear Nier, Final Fantasy, or even Chrono Trigger music I start to cry.
I'm so hyped, doing the Atlanta concert in March
Really excited for the Orlando show with my daughter!
I'm heading to the one in Orlando next month. I'm so pumped for it.
Booking in Boston, so hyped
I went to the last one in 2020, before COVID, and it was absolutely amazing. I'm glad you got to go and I hope to go again in the future.
I've probably have said this a billion times already but its been amazing to be on this journey and see how far channel has come :) Nier is one of the games that really boosted my already existing interest in video game music. The game itself is also an amazing and unique experience I will never forget. Will always be one of my favourites.
I went to the one in LA a couple weeks back. It was absolutely magical ❤
I got to go to LA show in January. It was delightful.
your first videogame orchestra? :D
all that is pretty normal for them and its always a blast, every single time.
watching some scenes from the game on the screen but having the live orchestra is always just *chefs kiss* pure bliss.
symphonic fantasies, cologne 2009, was my first concert of this kind and i "literally" shed tears during the secret of mana medley.
i couldnt understand why :D
You have no idea how jealous I am 😭😭 These are memories of a lifetime. Glad you enjoyed it
As someone who went to the chicago concert i couldnt agree more. I was on the 6th row from the front. Darn, lucky people to have met and taken a picture with you haha. Waiting for next announcement to the next one!
I can see why this is truly unforgettable!
incredible! it's my dream to be able to go to this concert and similar events but i'm always across the globe and cant afford to travel :')
Yay I'm going tomorrow as well!! I'm so excited!😊
Fresh outta the Thailand one for me. What a masterpiece that was
Hope you one day react to one of the many The Legend of Zelda orchestra concerts.
Welcome to Illinois! Hope your short trip here was a delight!
It was! I love Lincoln’s state
I'm stoked you got to see this, it sounds like it was an amazing experience! I'm going to a concert here in the UK in May I believe which is a complilation of different video game music but your more generic mainstream stuff. I'd LOVE to see something like NeiR performed live but there don't seem to be many opportunities for it here in the UK.
The NieR Orchestra Concert in London was last night, I don't know of any others though.
@@kyro8581 yeah getting to London isn’t the greatest for me it’s quite the trek. It’s a shame they don’t do other venues like Manchester or somewhere more up north.
The one in Paris is coming soon, I can't wait !
I was at the same show. It really was a special experience.
I wish they would come to my city, I love Nier's music, maybe I'll get a chance next time
I was there on the 10th in Berlin.
I was there at the chicago show with my girlfriend, such an absolutely amazing and unforgettable experience! :D
if i went to nier orchestra concert i would cry my soul out
I love the NieR concerts. My only regret was not being able to afford the VIP tickets back when the first concert came to Los Angeles.
Oh hell! My wife and I were in the section behind you I think! Damn, I would have said hi if I bumped into you, glad you enjoyed the show too!
I went to Berlin concert last Saturday. It was absolutely amazing!
By the way funny how you started the video using The Lost Shrine track from Replicant, since this is my wife's favourite track, however it's never used in any of the concerts sadly.
holy shit i was in that merch line. MOM IM IN A TH-camRS VIDEO!
I will be watching it tomorrow night live.
You should also try the distant world concerts, it's a great experience too!
Im so jealous, what's it like meeting a pair of musical LEGENDS?
Bro really said this 0:20, but this is pretty sick, seeing a Nier orchestra in person seems like a good time
In regards to what you said about video game music standing on its own, and changing your perspective slightly.
Wow you got to meet Keichi Okabe? That's dope dude
OMG I was at the Vancouver show last night and went to the meet and greet - I speak Japanese, and as I was chatting with him Keiichi Okabe turned to Keiichi Saito and they both were like "Oh! You have a very nice voice!" -- I was so flustered and honored that most of my grammar went completely south after that lol XD
Emi Evans voice was honest to god indescribable live. Otherworldly... what a treat to hear her and J'nique singing live together.
Next stop, Distant Worlds!
Im so jealous... while this concert is coming to germany it is at the opposite side of the country from me so sadly not easy to make a trip to see it :( one day i will hear song of the ancients, weight of the world and all the othere amazing songs live
I never come to symphony concert, though with Nier, I bet it slaps!!
Just to add to NieR's weirdness, there is a pretty obscure version of song of the ancients, "lost androids mixuxux", its worth a listen
I just came out the Paris' one it was great but I can't get over the fact that Grandma wasn't on the set list
Marco you should do Throne and Liberty video on Throne theme and Liberty theme,i think you will love both ost.
Honestly I want to go to an gaming orchestra one day possibly a Final Fantasy or Monster Hunter one
みなさんとても羨ましいです。
東京には公演がありません。どの都市も遠すぎて行くことが出来ません。
Curious if you've ever looked at the Airbuster boss theme from the FF7 Remake. It's pretty incredible.
out of those 4000 people i wonder how many aren't familiar with the games in the first place.
Good stuff dude
I was debating whether to drive out to the Chicago one since that was the closest one to me, and in the 2 weeks I spent debating it sold out :(
Missing this concert because i live in a third world country is something that i will be eternally sad about
Same
There was one in paris but it was already full T^T
Awesome, man! Btw have you reacted to Solo Leveling Statue of Music theme? If not, I highly recommend it! Whenever you can.
I cried at the concert lol
Rebecca Ford the Creative Director of Warframe was there too, did ya meet?
I want to attend one of these so fucking badly. But, I'm in Alberta ;-;
I'm going to London next week! How was your experience with merch at the venue? I heard you need to get there hours in advance to get anything
Please record the first song for me. Crumbling Lies
