    I converted to kadees a while ago, well worth it. If you havent got one already i'd really recomend the height gauge. It allows you to make sure all of the couplings are the same height and also tests the 'brake hoses' wont catch on points. As for magnets they do sell large uncoupling magnets that go between the rails, I've hidden 3mm cylindrical magnets in the ballast that work well and are alot cheaper. The steel 'hose' is easily bent up to avoid point rails etc.

      Horsehay RM thanks for your comment, I'll certainly be looking into the options

    • @ewoodrailway
      @ewoodrailway  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Horsehay RM may i ask what the 3mm magnets and where you got them from? The large paste does look ridiculous in my opinion

      @@ewoodrailway I think it deleted as I had a link
      Try typing F04125-10 first4magnets.
      It turns out they're 4mm cylinder magnets. Drill 2 holes between the sleepers and put one magnet by each rail. One south pole up and the other north pole up. It doesn't matter which way so long as they're opposites. The magnets will pull the 'hoses' outwards if you reverse over it and stop then pull forward slowly.

    i had to cut off half of the drop down hose as they catch the points on my layout with the track going up and down as the trains go around the circut and i been told to buy the KD 119 couplings they have the extra top and bottom on the couplings like as exstention so they dont uncoupling when a tanker derails in real life and puncture the tank so you buy tank car coupling K D 119 i am still looking for them on line to buy

  • @whitewallwheels1hardcore.m_o_h
    @whitewallwheels1hardcore.m_o_h 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    plus the drop down hose is where the magnet is to decouple the couplers and with me cutting them off there now no magnets

    • @ewoodrailway
      @ewoodrailway  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      White Wall Wheels 1 Hard Core M_O_H thanks for your comments, I'll be investigating more to see what I can and cannot achieve with them. The point that was causing issues is the one in the video, the others seem ok. I'm undecided on how much of my stuff I will convert as sadly some are old and have the D couplings. Hunts have great reviews but didn't work on my layout, I was also unimpressed that they didn't respond to my issues but were very quick to email before I made the purchase.id certainly avoid.

    Good video, I saw a demo of these on a live stream earlier today and they did mention you made a video on it. The one thing that attracts me to these is the fact that you can uncouple with a magnet on the track making for shunting operations, etc without manual intervention. I run N scale but not sure if Kadee make these for N. Cheers, John

      Model Geek to be honest the 19s were all they had and I thought for £5.75 I'd give them a go. When I come to get some more I may try a different size and see what the results are. If you closely over that point they are really tight so shorter ones might not work
