Beautiful! I love this so much. I recently did this exact thing with a "friend" of 17 years. I told her about how I destroyed a narcissistic coworker with a simple phrase: I saw a side of you I cannot unsee. Everyone else I told congratulated me for standing my ground. This "friend" conveniently ignored it, started acting uncomfortably weird, and began making unsolicited and "subtle" comments defending narcissists. She also made not-so-sly comments defending and integrating past vile behaviors towards me. The million dollar winner went something like "I have to take a second to wonder if they're just being rude or if it's because their brains aren't fully baked yet" regarding her high school students making questionable choices. I wish she were joking but it was a blessing in disguise that really opened my eyes to her basically blaming her past behaviors on her "underdeveloped frontal lobe" when we were younger instead of owning up to being nothing but hateful and envious. It got me thinking of all the other times she upset me for her own personal satisfaction. The most recent incident took place last year. She basically exposed herself. Once the mask comes off and the narcs hideous true self is revealed, its a living hell for the significant other. Then youv'e got to break the trauma bond which unknnowingly to the victim at the time developed during the love bombing/ idealization phase and anchors the victim to the narc despite all the vile behaviours that the victim will endure later. And thats one big reason that keeps people in the awful cycle of abuse. Great reading you have very good knowledge on narcisstic personality disorder🙋♂️🦂
