I was on acid and witnessed this performed live for 5000 people at the NY Colosseum in Manhattan in 1994. He was headlining along with Aphex Twin, Moby and Orbital. It was complete pandemonium! In the history of electronic music that would be equatable to seeing Jimi Hendrix headline with Cream, the Stones and The Doors. Funny story: the name was supposed to be "Gravitational arch of Io". As in "io" the innermost of the four Galilean moons of Jupiter. Not sure what the deal with its gravitational arch is, but one thing is for sure, Richie Hawtin (boss behind Plus 8 records) read the name wrong and the rest is history. I have this stomper on vinyl, wax rules.
That's right! Please read my comment above.... Just because Richie is stupid and ignorant(put aside his musical and DJ ing skills) the whole world misspells this title.
I wasn't prepared for this song when he played it on the See the Light tour. He was the first act and I thought there was just some dude twiddling knobs and testing gear and the sound setup and when it got going I realized that it the most amazing new thing I'd heard in such a long time. This really is an exceptional piece of music. The production is incredible if compared to many other tracks of that time. Rich, wide and heavy. Beautiful.
Trekked over to Orbit, Morley in the early 1990s to experience Sven Vath, in an overloaded Ford Fiesta. Wandered in, and in between the blurred eyes and smoke, we were slightly surprised to see something banging drums in cages and several MC's chanting, then this masterpiece began, and rolled around the deck at 200dB for 10 minutes. Such moments are forever gravitated into your brain.

Man, this takes me back! Lost, looking for love, looking for redemption, looking for meaning, wandering the mad nights, and then bang. This tune hits. Glorious.
Saw MArk play this live in Club UK in 1994. The intro left a room of a very lost ravers, looking for some measure of a beat and when the sirens started climbing, smiles started appearing. by the time that first kick drum 'kicked in' the place synchronised. It was, and is, magic!!

Phil Minotti I’m saying first time I heard it was on a 1993 Universe DJ set by Laurent Garner, has probably aged better than any other track I’ve ever heard
Homer used to play Dublin a lot in the very early 90's. Heard him about 20 times in Sides DC. Absolutely loved when him, Stevie McKenna and Ian Mccreedy from the North used to come down to Dublin
Discovered this myself for the first time... Thought the intro was getting too long until the sounds started at 2:45. Sent chills down my spine. Then the song kicked in... Pure magic! Thanks MC2/MC3 for introducing me to this music
People dont understand it was about the connection to ourselves and each other, as well as the sound that made this all so fuckin special. So fuckin special it was literally outlawed and broken up..... Because after all....who wants a world of beings lost together in a trance of love and adoration for one equal goal
Ich erinnere mich Gänsehaut am Blauen See in Ratingen. Beim Väth. Lustig ist die Afterhour im Rheingold, und wer war wohl dort der Überraschungs Act der Väth🎉
I was lucky enough to see him on tour when he 1st released this album. Years later when I got into techno, me and my partner at the time, were lucky enough to work with him on a personal level. Mark is a cool dude.
when i heard it from Sven in 1998 i run to the decks and asked him for the title...he said something i didn't quite get and when he switched tracks he gave me the vinyl!!!! One of the best nights of my clubbing life
LTJ Bukem's Muzik was the definitive drum and bass tune, hardcore had Dance Conspiracy Dub War, and techno had this little Beastie! And back in the day I used to drop acid to this sick tune, from the techno Derrik May played to the slower techno of Laurent Garnier would mix, but I loved this spaced out shit, still do, inside me is still a raver and always will be!
^ that drop on that crowd is sick. Only saw LG once & he was truly amazing in ATL. He signed my copy of the 'Labarotorie Mix' CDs & was so gracious. he destroyed that place
So listening to this tune still, absolutely gobsmacked by its sheer brilliance. That intro is so dreamy, not much happens until this delightfully modulated siren sound drifts in, and that seemingly goes on forever too, in fact its 5 minutes more until the beats and bass come in, then suddenly it all comes together and continues to morph with intensity, plenty of squelch but no acid whatsoever. The hook is a simple 2 bar, 6 note affair, and that is basically it. There is not much to this track, in fact it is incredibly simple and rather sparse, relying on nothing but the energy of the musical progression Utterly sheer genius!
I was on acid and witnessed this performed live for 5000 people at the NY Colosseum in Manhattan in 1994. He was headlining along with Aphex Twin, Moby and Orbital. It was complete pandemonium! Simply the most overlooked work of genius in all techno . universe Laurent garner 1993
Actually may be the best thing in all of music, like, ever!!
+Iain Macdonald or at the very least the best intro ever
Wrong bro. This track was written and produced by Mark GAGE a.k.a. Vapour Space
Phil Minotti I’m saying first time I heard it was on a 1993 Universe DJ set by Laurent Garner, has probably aged better than any other track I’ve ever heard
The Article Don Aw sorry mate. Yes it has had its share of play around the world.
First SONAR in Barcelona (Apolo Club) a guy with a "mallot" sponsored by Roland, Korg on stage LIVE ACT ! Mindblowing
never forget this time in my life
Great track love it I still have the full CD.
My favorite techno track of ALL TIME - gives me goosebumps every time 👏
Best track ever, out of discussion 👍
The big Masterpiece for electronics concept for 1993
one of my all time favorites. it's all ways a pleasure to listen to it. big thumb up!
Manuel Weber same bro
it's like fucking space travel man.
Love it when the Ad kicks in at 3.20 . Needed that, Bastards
94/95 ish, Vapourspace live in Belfast...Richie Hawtin/Plastikman too, and of course David Holmes....That was some night.......I think?!
Jealous..😊
Homer used to play Dublin a lot in the very early 90's. Heard him about 20 times in Sides DC. Absolutely loved when him, Stevie McKenna and Ian Mccreedy from the North used to come down to Dublin
Masterpiece fullstop 🔊🌟❤️
Fuse, '94, with some mates. Having some beers in our student home first. Raving all night long. So eclectic! Nowhere to find on spotify though?
just speechless, discovered this track after forgetting about it. Mindblowing !!! Unbelievable and sooo powerful intro...
When Love, Peace and Unity was famous ... miss those days ...
simply a killer tune
best vinyl ever
masterpiece
Discovered this myself for the first time... Thought the intro was getting too long until the sounds started at 2:45. Sent chills down my spine. Then the song kicked in... Pure magic! Thanks MC2/MC3 for introducing me to this music
Best Techno song ever produced, IMO. 😊
People dont understand it was about the connection to ourselves and each other, as well as the sound that made this all so fuckin special. So fuckin special it was literally outlawed and broken up..... Because after all....who wants a world of beings lost together in a trance of love and adoration for one equal goal
Eclipse - the second phase. Perth, 1993. Still have this on wax. I love life.
This album holds a place in my heart that no other electronic album does. It's a vast
lush Roland slanted analogue world worth getting lost in.
this is what we are missing these days in music production...
Nr. 1 on my "Best ever" list!
thank you Mr Gage
A time when Richie Hawtin was a funny baldy man who put out trance records on his own label.
eargasm up and down and up again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ich erinnere mich Gänsehaut am Blauen See in Ratingen. Beim Väth.
Lustig ist die Afterhour im Rheingold, und wer war wohl dort der Überraschungs Act
der Väth🎉
Wow, i forgot this one an found it. Still intense like the first time i listened it! Thx!
Dear lord.....when that bass kicks in
on the Technovisions 2 compilation along with a load of other great tunes
Took me eleven years to find this track, I just jizzed my pants with excitement!
+Francisco Larios :)
+Francisco Larios I think it took me nearly 20 years, but.... the moment I heard it I was there again :-)
+Stephen Cockett - Exactly the same for me
I was lucky enough to see him on tour when he 1st released this album.
One of the best nights of my clubbing life
Remember Taylor spinning this in Los Angeles 95. Hearing this for my first time, gave me goosebumps. Dope track
Nice!
This piece of music is out of world it bit like Orbital
Early tune in the Orbit48 every Saturday, sometimes a late tune. Always went down like the world was ending in a good way x
Epic Track! Always in my box!
Just timeless
LTJ Bukem's Muzik was the definitive drum and bass tune, hardcore had Dance Conspiracy Dub War, and techno had this little Beastie! And back in the day I used to drop acid to this sick tune, from the techno Derrik May played to the slower techno of Laurent Garnier would mix, but I loved this spaced out shit, still do, inside me is still a raver and always will be!
truth- this sound is truly beloved to my techno soul- up there w/ Teste- "The Wipe' & Underworld - 'Kittens.' spaced out bliss :]
Alexandra Starr Photography nice comment
Funny you say that cause Laurent just played that track at Time Warp 2018 there is even a video of that moment on youtube ;)
Nice Tune :-) Omen Frankfurt :-)
Dave Angel Morley 1993 opening track, remember it like it was yesterday.
Reminds me alwways of Dave Angel, who came to do a set for us opening a new community centre in Wester Hailes, Edinburgh, what a top top guy
He has a few good pals from there, and Calder
Yeah I know, that's why he came ;)
@@Veronacelt he gave out a few t-shirts that night (or another). I had mine for about 2 hours then fell asleep in a flat and never seen again ...
@@SuperBrooxy Just like his leather jacket when he went back to someones house after the gig at the Pyramid
