    @2:52 on the video -
    IMO, that lone chair is inadequate for seating.
    You could easily fit a small, proportionally appropriate settee in that corner and then turn the pink chair around to face the settee.

    • @justRoRo
      @justRoRo 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      I absolutely agree. I kind of feel it was a budgeting choice, which is totally fine, but I fnd it hard to believe someone would choose to not have any seating for themselves AND guests, other than the bed and the hard stools.

      She has a chair, which is "adequate" for HER 🤦 I can absolutely "believe" and can relate to what she chose to do for HER place,where SHE pays rent. Has anyone ever been on budget??? Did you get everything you wanted right away when you were on that budget, were you able to and if so, good for you. 🤷Maybe she's not in a position to get a couch right now. 🤦Maybe she plans to get a couch later...just maybe🤔 No matter how nice something is, people always find and/or look for 👀 👁️👁️
      one negative amongst so many positives 🤦🤦🤦

      Hi I’m Caitlin’s sister and I live in this apartment haha. So to answer any questions about the chair. It came from my previous apartment and I love it. I just didn’t want a couch in the space because I liked it staying open and airy so I could open the closet easily and have space to workout. Not a budget choice, just a personal one 🙂 Hope you all enjoy my sisters work as much as I have 💛

      It's cute but this space is quasi-functional because it's designed more to look pretty than to be functional. The bed is folded down 24/7 because they are using the space under the bed as storage. That white bed skirt is hiding a lot of crap underneath, one thing being a floor mattress so that when guests sleep over they pull out that matt for them to sleep on. A better option would have been for them to buy a 'chair and a half' which is like a wide armchair with a built in twin bed or maybe a loveseat sofa bed. That could replace that pink chair. I'd put that in the corner by the window. It would take up no more space than a regular chair or loveseat. If they went with the chair and a half option they could buy a chest of drawers to go under that painting that she painted for more storage. They even sell compact ottomans with fold out twin beds built in. In a small space items should serve a dual purpose A few stacked wood trunks or vintage leather suitcases for storing winter clothing, etc. instead of that poof. If they remove the crap stored under the bed, then they can fold it up and out of the way. A poof is uncomfortable to sit on for any amount of time. If Grandma comes over to visit she should have a reasonable place to sit like a small loveseat. Also the open shelves in the kitchen is wasted space. 4 glasses on each shelf? She wants everyone to see her "design" skills and that the wallpaper in the kitchen matches the paper behind the Murphy bed but...

    I think a small chaise lounge sofa would be perfect in that little living room. The murphy bed was a great idea but I would store it when it's not in use. Finally, there is a bunch of dead space on the contact paper wall in the kitchen. You could utilize that wall for more storage if you add a couple more shelves.

    What is behind the bed area? It’s looks like a deep space but the shelves etc only go back about 1/4 of the depth?! Curious! I love the space. I’d set it up with more of a lounge area that had storage inside seating etc so the bed could be up and away most of the time. But it’s a great space.

      That's not how Murphy beds work. This apartment is probably from the 1950s or 60s. That white shelving unit is one single piece, built in with an original style Murphy bed. The shelving unit cannot be moved as it's a part of the structure/walls and is not furniture. The bed frame and mattress are all permanently attached to that built in shelving by bolts and therefore cannot be moved to the corner. Without being attached to the shelving, the bed would not stand up on its own. Therefore the Murphy bed cannot be moved.

    It was a very nice design, but the placement and orientation of the bed area, especially with it down, was a little awkward. Love the Murphy Bed concept, and love that they fold away more. It felt as if the bed could have been worked onto the wall with the entry door. It overpowered the entry area. The bar/counter height in the kitchen was great but too low for the stools as the sister had to sit sideways. Very bright and clean, but here I go again...definitely needed more seating/bed options for two people sharing the space.

Does the other person perch on the backless barstools? She could also add more shelves in the kitchen unit and actually store some stuff.

The lack of any comfortable seating would also really bother me. There definitely was room for a small loveseat for larger comfy chair. Love the wallpaper accents!

    OK so first off, it's too white. You need color. Second, where you placed that small pink chair in the corner you could have placed a loveseat for more comfort/a pillow or two or just two comfortable designer seats. In the kitchen I would have added a beautiful piece of wallpaper over the sink as a back splash with a pop of color, and I would have even added some wooden hanging shelves since you have space for it to display blue mugs, different colored plates. You need a few plants to bring in oxygen into those stuffy New York apartments. Love the tiny bathroom and the striped pattern on the shower curtain. Very nice. Very nice job Caitlin.

    The Murphy bed structure seems like a waste of space unless you built the closet behind the wall?

    I think it's beautiful but, I wouldn't want to walk right into the bed when I got in and, there's something about a couch should have been there or a small loveseat fitted in that space.. it's a Murphy bed I would have put that up.. that bed is just too much in that room down all day

    The bed in the entrance doesn't work for me. Plus not having a sofa is a no for me.

    I’ve never seen 200 sqft apartment seem so big, open and airy.

    I love the design. But she def could have put a loveseat in the nook.

    Really nicely created...The Kitchen area by the fridge is to cluttered...the cutting board and spoons or just one thing there...like you just said "Less is More"...Okay the book reading nook is so great...

    That's the most useless use of space for a small area. Where are her clothes? It's like she decorated a space that wasn't small. Maybe she's trying to sell her decorating service. Yep, selling her services.

    The bar stools are to high for the breakfast nook, as petite as she is, she can’t get her knees underneath the table. Otherwise the apt is nice

    It's so cosy yet homey. However, I prefer not to put my bed nearby the entrance door as I want to sleep with quietude without hearing the door opening and closing all the time.

    Wait, what? I have questions.. Who thought a black counter in a light & airy apartment was a good idea? And opting out of a (small) couch? Doesn't her sister have any friends? That poof could have been another comfy chair. What about that curfed board opposite the chair - is that storage? And above it? Where the weird scarf is? Why didn't you show that wall/ cupboard? Aaand no TV?

    except for the bed it doesn't look very welcoming. looks like it's waiting to be furnished, no living or gathering space unless you sit on the floor.
