This r and b scene would never have happened without the Beatles because the big difference between 63 and 66 is the new Beatles inspired idea that one should write their own songs, otherwise we wouldn’t have had Sunshine of your love or Black magic woman and many other classics.

The Beatles would never have happened if Hitler didn't invade Poland.

This is Pt. 1 up to about 1964. Peter Green didn't emerge with Mayall until '66/'67 and the 'Hard Road' album. Gallagher was over in Ireland. He - with his band Taste - didn't emerge on record until, I believe, 1969.

Very apt. This was the London scene, snobbish, who looked down on groups from the north because they weren’t into blues. The Beatles momentarily contained this wave which later fused with the Beatles, that. Is Eric Clapton playing with the Beatles, the Beatles getting inspiration from Fleetwood Mac, etc..

Ah, having watched the 5 R&B clips I understand your comment re: Green. But there is a Family Tree feature on Fleetwood Mac, so he will no doubt feature heavily in that. What is missing here is Brian Auger and his various bands. But this is an overview, so I guess we shouldn't expect anywhere near the depth of those Family Tree books.

Fabulous video - really interesting. I wonder why they didn't mention the skiffle movement - which was fairly significant in the development of Britain's rock movement. It is also interesting that the Beatles weren't even considered to be part of what happened, particulalry since they started off as being purely an R&B band!
