Fire emblem in fancy new sprite form could be the unicorn overlord that a lot of people thought unicorn overlord was going to be. I'm totally in the boat of its likely to just be a new three houses game though, they'd have to be silly to not pay attention to how dramatically well it sold and continues to hold relevance today.
Idk there are so many 2D tactical RPGs, I think Fire Emblem should remain 3D, being the biggest of all the tactical RPGs I think Fire Emblem should really be pusing fidelity and not sort of cheap out with 2D visuals. I can get the sentiment after Three Houses looked kinda fugly but cmon engage looks great even if the artstyle is controversial, and with the generational leap of the Switch 2 a new FE game can look even better. I would frankly be disappointed if they made FE more generic and just went with sprites again.
Huh? Is Unicorn Overlord sold well? I don't think so. IS needs training, it's better to go forward than backward. 3D seems a way better option long term.
games like unicorn overlord are a dime a dozen, if i had a nickel for every "2d paper-sprite" art style game that gets released each year, i'd be a millionaire by now. either stick with 3d and make it look better or go back to proper pixel art, but if it looks like unicorn overlord and all of the other games that look exactly like it, i won't waste my money on it.
Non-ironically, I wish they would make a Fire Emblem Warriors Engage set during the war against Sombron, where you could use the Emblem Rings (and maybe finally show us Alear's dragon form).
Geez egg, stop caring about Fire Emblem. Embrace the farm games that will be announced in the next direct instead. It ain't much but it's honest work. 👨🌾
Getting Mangs to stop caring about Fire Emblem would be like getting George Salonikh to stop caring about Metal Gear, MrFreeze to stop caring about Hitman WoA, or AceCombatFan to stop caring about, um, Project Wingman?
Something like “a new FE project is now in development at Intelligent Systems for Nintendo Switch 2” seems more likely to me than an actual concrete reveal of the next game…I hope I’m wrong, though.
@@Mangs1337 I imagine it will be similar to the switch, a console that barely chugs along its contemporary’s and is only liked for its exclusive games. It will sink or swim depending on its library. This is going to make it a harder sell in my opinion as it will be about on par price wise as other consoles and new gen GPU’s. So the library needs to be good otherwise you could get another console with more power and other exclusives, or a PC which will be able to emulate the games anyway + so much more for a bit more investment.

I bet the trend of avatar-worshipping, anime-graphics, fishing -and cooking simulator is gonna continue, especially the first one, cause games these days emphasize the concept of individualizing your own main character.
Fire Emblem returning to sprites would be cool, sprite artwork can look very dynamic and crits can be made to feel impactful again from the animations. As for a more serious Fire Emblem, I think it would be cool to have a dark game taking place in Victorian Era Britain as its timeplace and theme, of course with the setting you can expect a theme with vampires, cults, betrayals, and cold-blooded murders. It could have a very dark theme but still have good character design with that Victorian-era aesthetic. Firearms can exist in the game but they're early ones so we can still use bows and also crossbows giving flavour to the non-magic ranged classes without being gimmicky and weak. Swords should also get a buff since currently nobody uses them because the whole series is hand axes and javelins on horseback to 90% of players.
I personally think that taking Fire Emblem back to sprites is actually a step back. Don’t get me wrong, you can make an amazing 2D sprite based Fire Emblem, but I’ve never really been able to feel as much emotion or passion from 2D sprites. I think that 3D gives Fire Emblem more of that “realities of war” feeling that’s missing from a lot of the 2D era games. Don’t get me wrong, FE4-FE5 exist and are an amazing story. But at the same time, I just get relate to characters like Arya, Sigurd, Seliph, as much when it’s just their 2D sprites. I don’t know what it is, but I guess that this could just be me.
For fire emblem, I think an FE6 remake would make the most sense. People know who Roy is, it would be the first time his game was released outside of Japan, it would make the most sense to play it a bit safe for the start of the next console. I don’t think we’re getting FE4 remake, that’s been going on for too long for me to believe it’s real anymore. And who knows, we might get another FE warriors game. I mean the first FE game on switch was FE warriors, so it could happen. And ideally, it would focus on the games that wornt in the original.
Nate The Hate, the leaker who provided the date for the Switch 2 reveal and has a strong track record, still believes Nintendo is sitting on a completed FE4 remake for the Switch 1 as far as I know. If this is the case (I have my doubts about Speedwing’s Paralogue confusion theory), we should know about it prior to April, either through a final Switch 1-focused Direct or a random social media drop. My concern (?) is that given the above, the development would have likely been concurrent with Engage, indicating a different team; i.e., the Koei Tecmo Three Houses team. This has its pros and cons, but may mean another technically unimpressive game with unbalanced/mediocre gameplay. Hopefully I’m wrong about that.
@ Please don't quote me on this, but I believe Nintendo does sit on completed games for quite a while on occasion until they find the proper place for them in their release calendar. So even if the FE4 remake is complete and isn't being retooled for Switch 2 (or if it exists in the first place), that doesn't mean that it will launch immediately after they announce it. But I would suspect that if it is a Switch 1 game, it will likely be announced within the next couple of months, and release somewhere in the April to June timeframe, depending on the timing of Switch 2 launch. Nintendo will likely want it to release before the Switch 2 if it is a Switch 1 game only, I'd think.

I want the FE4 remake. Fire Emblem as a franchise will still sell and get by it’s established well enough to do a remake. I understand speed wings theory about the Sigurd paralogue and all that but I still can’t get around the fact that Sigurd was easily the second most important emblem in engage behind Marth. They could’ve picked any other character for that spot but they chose Sigurd? Idk I think Nintendo wanted to hint at it in this way or I’m reading into it?
Id bet my arm Nintendo will never go back to sprites after the success of 3 Houses. For the same reason I do think theyll go back to a darker aesthetic.
Fears related to the Switch 2? I'm fully expecting them to not make enough of them and have a shortage for the first year. I'm also betting on it costing $399 at launch. I think people would complain if it's any more than that.
Nate the Hate (the guy who was the source of the reveal occuring yesterday) has also stated that there will be another direct occuring in February that focuses on Switch 1 titles. Quite possible we get FE4 remake announcement then!
i can't remember how many times Mangs has said that he would like an Octopath Traveler style new Fire Emblem. I think I am going to try this game. I heard its a Square Enix game, the studio that makes Final Fantasy, and it has very very good music and graphics. That's more than enough for me to give it a try. I don't actually mind at all what kind of JRPG combat and story it has to offer anyway.
Five more areas of the monastery and introduction of minigames for teaching skills (flying and push-ups for heavy armor can be taken straight from Engage), I can totally see them doing that.

The switch wasn’t dog shit, it proved that you don’t need insane 60fps 4K graphics to have a successful console and is still selling better than its competitors.
I am predicting a FE4 remake announcement on Switch to tide the fans through the time they need to make a new FE on Switch2. Personally prefer FE4 remake simply because playing 6 and 7 on emulators is still something that can hold up to today's standards, but not 4 and 5

Rather than a remake I want a return to Roy and Ike’s world for two different reasons. For Roy’s world the human dragon prejudice must end and for Ike’s world I feel like to further prove Ashera and Yune’s imperfections a new continent in that world should be introduced.
As someone who's been in the franchise for a minute, personally? I'd love and adore a new FE game or maybe even a remaster of Tellus. *Bit of an Ike fan boy* but I would love FE4 remake or even FE6 remake would be nice. Being able to actually see and get to know Roy without a fans translation would be nice.
The Switch was released in 2017, so it's abut 8 years old by the time of the April 2nd Direct. There are definitely several games that will be announced for it then. The new Mario Kart is guaranteed. A possible Smash 6 could be announced as well. Either that, or an enhanced remake of SSBU or Melee. Either way, Alear is assured to join the roster. An Advance Wars character (likely Andy) would be highly unexpected in that case. There are rumors going around that they're gonna remake Sonic Heroes for the Switch 2.
To me the Switch is easily top3 Nintendo consoles of all-time, I’m surprised you think it’s dog shit… I guess it help that I dont give a single F about frame rates and graphic fidelity…
i've always been 1 - 2 console generations behind since the PS2 era just because i never want to pay full price, but thinking this time ill actually get the Switch 2 just to play the newest FE now that i've gotten into the series
With love for Octopath-like graphics and your quite good reception of the Unicorn Overlord being mentioned in video and comments, I wonder if you would find "The great villainess: Strategy of Lily" interesting. Despite cringe name, it looks quite fun, and actually having to worry about supply lines for your units is something I wanted in my strategy games for a long time.
Personally I want a brand new Fire Emblem... and hopefully they'll find a decent writer this time, because sure, smother and better graphics are nice, but what Fire Emblem really needs is good storytelling, Three Houses got the attention of many because of its characters and narrative, they were some of the best on the series
I'm just hoping besides Fire Emblem, we may also hopefully, and finally, get Golden Sun involved in here. I would prefer a Fire Emblem 6 and 7 remake if it's a remake. If a new game, I hope for a 7 prequel!

A few months later Pokémon Legends Arceus was released
So what if FE4 is gonna be remade and then a new entry was released a few months later?
That would be incredible
FE4 remake? Naaaah, never happens

A new Fire Emblem game would still be a sequel, Mangs.
Rather than a remake I want a return to Roy and Ike’s world for two different reasons. For Roy’s world the human dragon prejudice must end and for Ike’s world I feel like to further prove Ashera and Yune’s imperfections a new continent in that world should be introduced.
Fire Emblem Engage Warriors! 💪🐲🔥🔥🔥🔥
Oyeah, please! Engage Warriors at the launch and a main title 6 months later😊
As someone who speaks cheeseburger, we americans love a little bit of date trolling
It's gonna be an Engage-based Warriors game and you know it
KT didn’t made it but Gust
There is no group of people I hate more right now than fire emblem fans. Gotta love being a fan yourself.
EMBLEM ENGAGE… TWO!
We do have leaks on specs, and it looks to be halfway between a Ps4 and a Ps4 Pro when handheld and slightly better when in docked mode
To me the Switch is easily top3 Nintendo consoles of all-time, I’m surprised you think it’s dog shit… I guess it help that I dont give a single F about frame rates and graphic fidelity…
GBA FE Sprites were great.
We need a prequel with Framme and who the divine dragon looked at her.
It's still less than two years since Engage came out. And you've been expecting a trailer for 6 months now.
Americans tend to know how to write dates. The problem is only with people in the United States.
GBA like Sprites + map graphic from triangle strategy - that would be amazing
i've always been 1 - 2 console generations behind since the PS2 era just because i never want to pay full price, but thinking this time ill actually get the Switch 2 just to play the newest FE now that i've gotten into the series
You can just emulate switch 2 games in the near future
@therealjaystone2344 eh seems like nintendo would shut that down at least for the first decade, also i suspect my pc is too weak to run any of that
With love for Octopath-like graphics and your quite good reception of the Unicorn Overlord being mentioned in video and comments, I wonder if you would find "The great villainess: Strategy of Lily" interesting. Despite cringe name, it looks quite fun, and actually having to worry about supply lines for your units is something I wanted in my strategy games for a long time.
All I personally want is just a Switch that runs at 1080p 60fps. I don't care if the games look better.
I think a remake of Sacred Stones would be sick too!
Personally I want a brand new Fire Emblem... and hopefully they'll find a decent writer this time, because sure, smother and better graphics are nice, but what Fire Emblem really needs is good storytelling, Three Houses got the attention of many because of its characters and narrative, they were some of the best on the series
I WANT AWAKENING REMAKE OR SEQUEL !!!!
I'm just hoping besides Fire Emblem, we may also hopefully, and finally, get Golden Sun involved in here. I would prefer a Fire Emblem 6 and 7 remake if it's a remake. If a new game, I hope for a 7 prequel!
Dude, a golden sun 1 + 2 combined remake with insane new summon animations would go crazy.
new fire emblem trailer coming 3 years ago guys!
7:40 We got games Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake back in November, and Live a Live. And not to mention I believe Octopath Travelers 1 and 2. Those are the games that come to my mind for sprite work games, but in 3D.
If we get a new fire emblem game, I just don't want another divine dragon glaze situation. We had enough 😭
