My husband lost his hand in a motorcycle accident and this was the first game we played together using the Xbox adaptive controller. Since he only has one hand he uses foot pedals for buttons and a joystick with his remaining hand. It was such a lovely game to learn to use the new set up with. We cried so many tears, happy and sad.
Sorry to hear about your Husband, that is harsh but sounds like he did not let it beat him down and kept going, much respect.
Wholesome
😔😢
I work with the disabled, and one of our residents has the adaptive controller. He loves it, it's the only way he can play video games.
Thats awesome to hear. Everybody should enjoy games.
I forgot mention that Ori is Hebrew which means little light, or My light.. A name given to both male or female hehe
Ori is genderless.
@@truegamer7930 I actually believe they're a girl! They're constantly referred to as "she" everytime they're mentioned.
@@lilchipmunk8443 Those mentioned "she" referred to "Kuro" the owl or maybe "Naru" sometimes.
@@truegamer7930 I don't know which gender Ori is, but I don't think they're genderless. The other spirits have genders, it's unlikely Ori is different.
"I did it. I'm a true gamer!" Gab... We never doubted you for a bit.
This game's soundtrack has spent literal *_years_* at the top of my preferred playlist. I have no idea how many times I've listened to it, but I wouldn't be surprised if it's reached quadruple digits by now. It also has some of the best platforming of any game ever made, and the graphics are absolutely stunning.
And believe it or not, the sequel is better in almost every way.
All handdrawn and digitalized in unity and made by 20 people.
Usually with youtubers playing games, I just skip to the interesting parts, but with you I watch the whole hours 😭✋🏻 ily
Wow, you are really good at this, I remember struggling in the beginning of this game. Also, bought the sequel to this game last year and that blows this one away, they actually outdid themselves and this game is a masterpiece essentially. So you definitely should check out the sequel once you've beaten this one
i would not call this game as a hard platformer in any way tho..... can't wait to watch he play the sequel these are top 10 games of my life easy.
I'm not a big fan of the sequel, it feels too "Hollow Knighty" to me
@@gabrielandy9272
That's subjective. I found it to be challenging on the first playthrough.
@@JameyMcQueen difficulty is subjective you are right but when you compare to other games it cant be subjective anymore, the game is not that hard compared to other platformers if you found it difficulty it dont change that the game is not even on a top 10 hardest platform games.. Even hollow knight is harder... So no ori and the blind forest could have have been harder for you, but if we going to make a list it would not he on top.
@@gabrielandy9272
"There's harder games so this game is not hard by default" - the fuck is that backwards logic?
Also, you can't agree with me then immediately disagree. It's either subjective or it's not. Pick your poison and stick with it.
The Ginso Tree run was my proudest moment of playing Ori, because I managed to do the whole thing and get every ability point/extra on the way up (although it took me many tries)
I don't know if you played the original edition, but in that game the Ginso Tree was a single-run level: Once completed, the Ginso Tree got closed, with no way to recover the bonuses inside. Same for Misty Woods, Forlorn Ruins and Mount Horu
@@clochb You can get back there for collectibles in the Definitive edition though :)
@@Che44ter I know that, I played both versions for hundreds of hours, same for the sequel
OMG, kitty!! The moment he walked in and meowed I was like, "YAY! BB!!"
I have a cat that loves to join my streams/videos, too. She big sweetheart.
Aww
Love this game, so happy you’re playing it
Agreed, lovin this gameplay.
Thank...🙂
The chill game goes with her chill nature.
I hope she also plays the Will of the Wisps. Awesome games.
I literally can't get enough of your videos! You bring so much joy too everyone. I love how you act out as if you are climbing the walls or taking a big breath while Ori gets above water! 💕💕💕
28:31 That is the cutest sound I've ever heard.
I know it's still early on to mention this but there's also a SECOND ORI! The story in the second game and the game art are just as amazing!
A lot of people say it's even better!
@@lexmcdufflepants4332 it’s even better, not saying this one is bad by any means but the second game continues on from the first one and has way better gameplay and story
Honestly really happy to see you playing this :)
If you enjoy this, I strongly recommend playing hollow knight (after completing this and Ori 2 ofc), think of it as dark souls x ori. These are two of my favourite games ever. Plus, there's a new hollow knight in the works, which we're all very excited about.
PS: also, thank goodness it is stoutest in English and not stoutste, otherwise it would have been really confusing.
FINALLY, getting to watch all of these Ori videos. I didn't want to watch them until I finished my playthrough of them. I'm so happy to see that I wasn't the only one to struggle during some parts of it. Even though I got frustrated at some parts of the game, it's actually a very good game. Looking forward to playing through the second installment.
Oooh you're doing really great! Another wonderful video ^.^
New tips for the new abilities!
1. The Stomp can be used to damage enemies on nearby walls and ceilings too (aka those annoying slimes that shoot at you and the tentacles,) and something I didn't realise until my third play through is that it can also be used to rebound projectiles near you which will in turn get rid of them most of the time.
2. You can change how far you aim the Light Burst too so if you want to aim further away you can and if you want to use it to jump off of with Bash you can aim closer to you.
3. There isn't a cool down for dash when you're on the ground.
4. Be careful not to use Light Burst too much if you're in an area where there aren't many energy crystals cause it uses up energy you'll want to have to save.
5. Also if no one said it in the stream you can go back into the Ginso Tree to get the things you missed, you can always go back to areas
This game is so beautiful and all the mushrooms are so cute!! Increadibly impressed that anyone can play a game like this were your fingers must follow your thoughts so closely.
I bought this game (the definitive edition of the blind forrest AND the will of the wisps) because I saw you playing this! It looks like such a great game. I am the worst at gaming, but this game is so beautiful and it has such a great story! Thanks for introducing me, Gab!
Loving this series so far Gab, and I’m glad you’re getting to experience this fantastic game.
I am spending 30% of this applauding Gab's insane plays with her jumps... so satisfying to watch ngl
Wow. That whole water tree scene was wildly cinematic. I've never been so wowed by a game moment like that I think. Was like watching a movie. I wonder how long that took to plan out for the game devs. The music was so beautiful too. Gosh what a gorgeous game, and I never even knew it existed. You play the game so well which is also probably why it feels so good. I know if I was playing it, I would never be able to appreciate it's beauty.
At 28:05 Oh my gosh GAB! You did it in ONE TAKE! It took me so many tries to get through there.
at 54:09, it only took you TWO TRIES????? It takes me like half an hour to get that one. Gab.... YOU ROCK!!!
Do you see how he paddles on the surface of the water?! Sooooo freaking cute!
Gab, you are so amazing at this game! I must have died over 20 times on that water escape part.
Hey Gab !
Just to tell you, there's some easter eggs in this game, such as Mario with a pipe hidden in the background, and, you missed one.
You haven't noticed the Triforce from Zelda at 1:15:22 on the trunk just next to the ability cell ^^
I had so much trouble playing this game (skill issue) and I got frustrated and gave up after the Moon Grotto.
Gab's calmness is a perfect match for the lovely atmosphere and music. I feel like I can appreciate the game properly this way. :)
somebody count how many times Gab said "dash"
you're so good at the game and progresses so fast! when i played it i took way longer time on me to progress into the game. watching you play it wants me to play it again, even tho i played it twice already
28:25 Ori's little howl reminded me of my Hannah Rey when she meows. 😊 She did a nice little air dash too from the footrest to near my lap. Now she is camped out next to me soaking in the tranquil music of the game. 😊💖 got a nice little white coat too like Ori
I put this on while watching you stream Ori again on twitch, just to leave my view here as well :D I am so happy you're playing Ori! I hope you play the second one too!
haha how that one mob just jumped in the water XD love the editing to it XD "yeet!" XDD
I recently played this game and declared it my favorite game of all time (I haven’t played that many games yet)
I have played since the nes times way back in the 90s and I have played alot of titles and believe me that Ori BF and its sequel will stay in your heart like forever.
@@thelifesampler i still need to play the sequal, but im hyped to play it!!!
@@juwelplaykid1042 definitely check it out; it's amazing!
@@lego_the_cat good to hear
I was just watching the water platforming and it was intense.
The reason Sein said "we should come back here later" when you made it to the Burrows spirit well was that you're expected to get that far before Ginso. You can get there as soon as right after wall jump (which was when you first noped out of there), and then you're forced to leave and come back once you get stomp, which by this point you already had. It's an oversight that they didn't change or remove that dialogue for players accessing the area later, since this _is_ a metroidvania and that area _is_ completely optional. (It was effectively DLC, added in the Definitive Edition along with both Dash and Light Burst abilities.)
Just started the sequel to this game
Can't wait for her to play
Thanks Gab, you just gave me the moral support to get through the tree escape section! I was so ready to give up and going a bit mental but thanks to your video I was able to do it!!
the waterfall sequence legit took me an hour to beat, and hearing that score give me war flashbacks
An hour? It literally caused me to ragequit the game for an entire year. I was playing with keyboard, which sucked. A year later I retried with a controller and aced it the "first time". Such a difference.
Does gab ever play hollow knight on stream ? I really want to see how gab play it after watch ori series.
I would LOVE for Gab to play Hollow Knight even Silksong for that matter.
Wow, such a peaceful game.
Awesome soundtracks
Giving me flash backs to the dark eco filling the chamber in the underwater level
New sub here. My daughter loves your videos. She is a nursing student and has you playing in her room non stop. She does assignments and sleeps with you playing. I decided to watch and even though I have played Ori 1 about a hundred times (give or take 6) I am enjoying watching you play for the first time.
Okay. I can’t take it any longer I need to express this. EVELIEN. YOU ARE AN INCREDIBLE HUMAN BEING. For real though I’m incredibly happy watching your content you’re just a wonderful person. Thank you.
58:29 OMG 😂😂😂 LOL 😂😂😂
I played Ori many times but I never heard that noise. LOL
Its so satisfying watching gab light up the paths she missed previously (on the map)😌
Really enjoyed how long this was. This game is mesmerizing. 🥰
how come you are always this much better than the usual playthroughs i watch from my favorite youtubers :D?
Fun fact: there is a triforce carved into a tree somewhere in the game - and there's a warp pipe underwater somewhere~ ;D
And that Wilhelm scream is actually set off in the game somewhere too. Lol!😆😄
@@rebeccah.5695 Ohmigosh, really? xD
Where? :0
@@pouncingmoggy
In the valley of wind on the ledge just across from the sorrows pass entrance, it doesn’t show up until later in the game but you’ll see a spitter frog there. 😁
@@rebeccah.5695 Oh, neato! :D
Will check out next time I play through. Thanks!
@@pouncingmoggy
No problem, I hope it brings a smile to your face.😄🙂
It's fun to watch someone experience this for the first time. Easily in the top 5 metroidvanias ever made. Just getting around the world is fun, because the controls are so fluid. For games that make you back track a lot, this is critical. Compare this game to Yoku's Island Express - a really interesting and fun metroidvania. The difference is that moving around in YIE is pretty tedious - so once you've finished the story, the idea of traveling around to 100% it is much less attractive.
Anyway - thanks for this! I look forward to more...
@@thumpdragfilms A platformer that has areas gated by abilities will usually qualify as a metroidvania, so i would certainly say Ori qualifies. If you go to Steam and search Top Rated games that have the metroidvania tag, both of the Ori games are in the top five.
GabOri= Amazing!
I'm loving the playthrough so far. Thanks for this!
Escaping the Ginso Tree is the most stressed I've ever been in a game.
Also: please play the sequel!
This is such a beautiful game. love the music as well.. Would love to see more of this game.. please play the second game as well.. ❤️
WAS WAITING FOR THIS ALL MORNING!!!! YESSSS!
Possibly the one time I'm gutted that the game is episodic. I'm loving the progression.
Love this game so much! You are always my favourite gamer and youtuber Gab. You are amazing!
Thank you for putting this on TH-cam on a Sunday! I don't have twitch/understand it?! My Sunday's are bloody sad so thank you coz you've uploaded! Positive she's not normal!?? when like normal ppl have the weekend off😂!! She's the best I love the swearing banter how you go on with your mates! Just feels like I'm watching me son or a friend gaming!! She's just an absolute godsend for games and a good giggle! Not forgetting the bond we have with putting up with those adorable arsehole cats 😹😹😻
Ooooh you should replay the Jak and Daxter games!
Also this is a delight to watch
Yes the Jak and Daxter games rock, they’re my favorite trilogy of all!😄❤️💕
Those time sections when you have to escape, like the Ginso Tree, is what made me stop playing the game. But watching your streams, and re-watching here on YT, has made me want to give it another try
Me going to work: 😒
Me going to work with Gabs video: 😌 peace at last
1:17:08 "so how do we warp?"
"Y y y yY Y"
Those skills though! Wow watching that was amazing aaaa
Evelien is so pretty in this thumbnail.
I love how cute this game is.
Thats the earliest i have ever been to a video lol
34:32 the ability "allows Ori to ALSO use Dash in the air". It's just a Dash powerup. The basic Dash is within an Ancestral Tree in the Definive Edition's bonus zone, it's not part of the original game.
1:08:19 seriously, what's all this hate against the "don't lose collectibles" magnet???
1:15:46 YYES, FINALLY!
1:26:22 You got it, finally! I wonder if you'd finished the original Blind Forest, since it doesn't have the Dash...
When you remember that Dash wasn't even in the original game. It was added for the definitive edition
Same, hearing Gab talk about getting dash throughout the entire episode and having flashbacks to the original version without dash is so jarring. I love that dash was added to the game but it was probably one of the less needed abilities imo (especially since it's a skippable skill).
@@Lynns-Thoughts yes, i agree. imo dash is too powerful and should not be obtainable to early because the game is getting to easy then. i've seen some youtuber get dash super early and the rest was way too easy. there was no need to back track because he could get every little item immediately.
Definitely play Ori and The Will of Wisps, you will have an even better experience with that one.
Loving that game👍👍👍👍
Played Ori, loved it.
But *Spiritfarer* gives you even more feels.
Ori makes you sad, *Spiritfarer* makes you cry.
It may not be the best game for TH-cam/Twitch though.
Oh, Id love it if she would give spiritfarer a chance. I’d see it working on twitch where Gab can get tips and talk with chat if she gets lost at what to do (so I see it as a win-win situation. she can play and fans can interact with her).
Ori is most emotional , Spiritfarer is like terapeutic and sad but it doesnt make you feel instantly. You have to read to get it. Both games are good on their own but Ori is better for streaming cause is an action platform fast paced game.
@@thelifesampler As long as I and everybody else get to play great games, that's fine by me.
Too bad the games that sell are the more of the same generic FPS AAA Battle royale overmarketed BS.
I wish the average people were smarter than that.
This and an episode of subnautica to watch?? My morning is going to be fueled by Gab
GAB MU BELOVED!!!!! IM SO HAPPY YOURE PLAYING THIS GAME
She picked up bash a bit faster than Jack did lol
The music that starts at 55:48 is the fuckin best
so epic
this game is beautiful
The light burst bash actually breaks the game because you van skip puzzles you normally aren't supposed to.
Gab, this playthrough is great! If you like this kind of gameplay, I would suggest Hollow Knight. Absolutely gorgeous scenery, music, and really tight controls, one of my favorites!
.... Ive been stuck on the ginso tree final level for a year now..... Gab did it in 5 min
Gab you rubbed off on me. Now every time i see a hole or something similar i think "secret tunnelllll" lol
Good to hear a streamer break out an AtLAB reference in 2021!
"This feels so super Metroid "
Me: wondering if she's seen and is excited for metroid dread 🤔
Just this second purchased this game based off of your play through 😁✌🏻 can’t wait to get going and then I’ve just seen there is a SEQUEL TOO!!!! 🤩
Good luck yet again!
FFrriiick I might have missed that optional part, I have no recollection of it D: Well, at least I get to see it here! :D I love this game it's so beautiful and serene, and then suddenly there's moments of action sprinkled in, such a nice time :3
Love the cat cam
so much fun watching this !!!
Stomp is a very powerful attack, is like twice as stronger as a regular spirit shoot.
This is like super Metroid but cute! Can't wait for the next upload!
It's a metroidvania, so it's not a coincidence, lol.
It literally took me like 50 tries to escape from the Ginso Tree, I can't believe you did it so fast lol
Maybe she edited some tries. Or she is really good.
This is such a cool game I wish I'd played it before when I had the chance to.
It gives me soo much anxiety that you never save
Agreed, she makes it through a hard part of the game and just doesn't save after that...it's painful to watch in my opinion because you know the consequences of failure...
@@tadaokou4919
You should see the people who don't save on the hardest difficulty.
@@JameyMcQueen Oh trust me
I see it and it pains me xD
100% this!!
Also, I feel like I'm the only one ~slightly~ annoyed by Gab obessing over the Dash ability, imo the game was fine when it wasn't even an ability, the addition is nice but not really necessary.
@@Lynns-Thoughts 100% agreed
I usually like to watch her content but this is just painful to watch in so many ways. The chat is distracting her so much from the gameplay that she didn't even know what the energy cell was when she found it in this part. It's not like she saw it twice before that.
Honestly can't watch it here.
And sorry if my english is a bit bad right now...I'm tired and not a native english speaker.
I love this game and happy to watch it again with you, hope u play the second one too
loving it
Me watching Gab play this is game is just
save, save, SAAAAAAAAAAVE
Beautiful game 👌👌
Gab are you going get tattoo of little spirit of ori and his big friend from the beginning of the game?
SAVE OFTEN.
1:43:05 huh, I've just finished Ori and I noticed that I skipped this entire area. I've never been to the Lost Glaive. The whole place looks unfamiliar to me and I never got that cut scene.
Yeah wtf. I never got the light burst ability.
I hope you're going to continue the journey through The Will of the Wisps
How do you do the dash? Is it something you activate at a certain tree or is there something you have to press to use it?
I forgot this was the definitive version (which I don’t have) so i actually tried to warp between wells and look for the Black Root Burrow lmao
Anyone who played Ori adores Ginso tree escape music theme, but that one is reall hard one. I am curious how much tries you had on Ginso tree also you did well Ginso tree escape. Get soundtrack for Ori games they are great music especially for relaxing.
The amount of times I yell "please save" internally lol it stresses me out, I save way too often when playing
