- Christian metal titans STRYPER return with a fresh new single "Blood from Above" so it is time to give Stryper's new jam a first listen, a few weeks ago I did a first listen to Yahweh from Stryper and well, it rocked pretty good, will Stryper "Blood from Above" rock? there is only one way to find it, so let's go!
Stryper is an American Christian metal band from Orange County, California. The group's lineup consists of Michael Sweet, Oz Fox, Perry Richardson, and Robert Sweet.

Tim Gains left and was replaced by Perry Richardson. Oz had a scare medically but is still in the band
@andy bosik Oz has a brain tumor, not brain cancer. RUSH Drummer Neil Peart died in Jan.' 2020 from brain cancer.

Salvation Through Redemption Yielding Peace Encouragement & Righteousness. Wow this song rocks hard. 38+years still kicking jams and Michael sweet STILL hitting those notes. Amazing!
Their last six albums are the best work they have done, and better than anything their contemporaries are releasing. I expect this album to continue that streak.
No More Hell To Pay is still the yardstick by which all albums are to be measured, no matter the band. It was a breakthrough for Stryper and it retained a rawness to it yet they haven't had since. That standard will never change unless Stryper is able to put out something better. They have been damn close since then, because of their exceptional talent and uniquely pure message, but they haven't topped it yet in my estimation, even though the song Fallen is probably my favorite Stryper song of all time. I will feel it in the core of my being if they top NMHTP. And I have a sneaking suspicion this could very well be their best effort yet. Here are snippets of the rest of the album, it is crazy good!

@@SilverM1y I couldn't agree more! Everything about NMHTP is exceptional! The only song that I've grown tired of is "Revelation" and even that studio-stuck track has some intriguing riffs in it. "Fallen" is a powerful title track, perhaps their best! I didn't like the GDE tt outside of the growl in Mike's vocals. What I'd love to hear are more songs revolving around the style of "Sympathy" and/or "Marching Into Battle". I'd even love it if they mixed their songs like Living Colour does (as far as instrument discernment and bass drive goes) because even "Blood From Above" sounds a little hot to me.

Good job reacting to this song. I like the sound of it and the lyrics too. They really trace God's redemptive plan through Jesus's sacrificial blood for us.

Oz has a medical issue but still in band. He was apart of making this album. He is taking advantage of this covid ordeal to get things fixed so he can continue doing what he loves. Prayers for him and his wife. Album is awesome, areal growth... blessing.

Fallen, no more hell to pay, God damn evil, and the new awaited album I will assume is their best work! They are at their peak right now! Perry replaced Tim and put a new fire in the ass! Oz had a cyst on his brain, is on meds, and doing well! Stryper has a bright future still
I think To Hell With The Devil will maybe...I'm saying maybe, will remain the best album for now. They are going to make a comeback at least one more time.

Saw them in 86 I didn't like their studio album as much but when I saw them LIVE they ROCKED and were Heavy in person. I went to the show to see the band Hurricane.... The with the brothers of Quiet Riots Bass and Guitarist and the current lead singer of Foreigner.. Stryper def won me over.
Fantastic song, heavier and smooth. Saw them live years ago. Soldiers under Command is one of my favorite. They sound great for being older and not wash up due to drugs and alcohol like many of the bands....
Love this review. Love the song, the band . THWTD is my favourite album because it’s a classic but I believe this album is gonna be their best so far. I am a fan since 1987- in Venezuela 🇻🇪 . Saw them live in 2004 and met Robert and Oz. And saw them in Toronto 2019.

Saw them live on NMHTP tour. Right in front of Oz. Killed it. Met the band. Most were cool. Oz was the most chill and personable. Great show.

This is a great song. Been digging their more recent albums. I pre-ordered this new one. Melodic and heavy which is right up my alley. Being more agnostic than atheist, I don't mind their Christian message. If I can enjoy a black metal band hailing Satan, I can enjoy a Christian rock band praising Jesus just the same lol

The new CD Even the devil Believes is released Sept 4th I think it is. Oz is still in only member change is Tim Gaines is gone bass player is now Perry Richardson formerly of Firehouse.
Stryper blows off most bands. Going stronger and stronger. Oz Fox IS IN THE BAND, he has gone through grave health issues with a brain tumor, had surgery and recovering. Praying for his recovery, also Michael and Robert going though health issues but I´m sure they will come through God willing.

Oz is still in the band but is having some health issues. The bassist Tim was asked to leave the band a few years back and was replaced by exfirehouse bassist Terry Richardson

Saw them live in Osaka, Japan four years ago on their Fallen tour. My favourite song of theirs is actually the title track off the Fallen album. Yahweh was epic but Fallen is a home run, too.

Oz is still in the band. Three of the original four members are still in with Perry Richardson replacing Tim Gaines on bass. No More Hell to pay was a great (and recent) album you missed. Saw Stryper about three years ago, and these guys were bringing the heat. Legit musicians, power vocals, and great sound.

Hi Shane. Not sure if you are aware of it or not, but Stryper just released a new single on Friday, from the new upcoming album, "Even The Devil Believes", called: "Make Love Great Again". It's an awesome track! You should do a reaction video. I think you will love the song. Perry Richardson's bass playing is just amazing. He fits Stryper perfectly. He's an awesome singer himself and does a fantastic job on background vocals. Oz is still with Stryper. He is still going through the medical problems unfortunately. He plays on this album, just like he has on previous albums. Just hoping and praying that he recovers and slays this evil dragon. I believe Oz Fox is still in the band. I think the only non OG member is the bass player.
Oz is still in the band but he's having a lot of health issues. Howie Simon filled in for Oz on several tour dates last year. Oz was performing in Vegas with a side project early last year and collapsed on stage. The doctors later discovered he had had an aneurysm. He ended up taking a few months off and seemed to be in recovery but the latest news is he's having some pretty serious issues again.
As far as the single, I find it a little boring but I'm glad they are still recording new music. My reaction suggestion would be Theocracy - Laying The Demon To Rest.

Yes I know this is two years old, but this song is one of my favs and I have been a fan since 1984 and have seen them 26 times...they rock live...even stuff I don't think is good on the cd sounds killer live...for example I did not care for take it to the cross until I saw them perform it live...it was wicked awesome...anyway love your reviews...you crack me up....how about a review of the just released rise to the call by stryper and while I am here check out Rob Rock...and maybe do a review
Need to check out Theocracy! Younger version of Stryper, but just as good. I Am and Nailed from As The World Lies Bleeding are their best/personal favorites.

Yellow and Black Attack was the first Professional Album, then Soldiers Under Command.
I do believe Oz has had the tumors removed and is doing well, and is playing just as well still, if not better and is still in the band.
I think the song Sorry off of GDE is one of their best tunes to date. Great song.
