Stryper are better than ever right now. Even their latest song that just came out off of their upcoming album is amazing. They are the only old school band that literally continues to get better and better.
@@ethanwelk2736 and David. Very true on both counts! I like them even more now though. The production of the sopngs aren't so refined these days and there are more subtlties in the recording that imo give the songs more "soul" and authenticity.
Hey brother, about the lying thing, just know that we are ALL sinners. But the whole point of the Gospel is that Jesus paid your penalty on the cross, and forgiveness is there for you, if you want it. BTW, a little interesting piece of trivia about this song, is that Michael happened to share a plane ride with Clint Lowery from Sevendust, and the two agreed to collaborate on a song. So Clint wrote the main riff you hear.
You know, sometimes when you test people, you find out if they are true or not. By you testing Stryper the way you did, you proved that they are true to there Christian faith and they don't just do the walk they are as genuine as they come. You can profess to be something and be a scam. Stryper proved to you they were genuine in every way shape and form. Michael Sweet's voice hasn't changed. It has only gotten stronger. So powerful.
Yes, the whole album is good. Produced by Michael Sweet himself, which means the mix sounds as good as it's supposed to sound. The drums don't have that obnoxious boxy sound, and the songs are straight fire. Sweet's vocal performance is probably the best of his career, and I consider FALLEN to be the best album of their career.
Yellow And Black Attack was originally released as a four track ep. Which sold local in California, then rereleased as a six song ep national and fast sold 200,000. It was reissued as a full length lp hoping it would achieve gold status, but it never happened officially.
Stryper are singing and playing at the top of their game. You should definitely give No More Hell To Pay, Fallen, and God Damn Evil all a full listen someday. That tune Take It To The Cross is a mindf**k
All of STRYPER's stuff is amazing. I'm loving the newer stuff, they've gone really heavy. The bassist is Perry Richardson from firehouse. Also.....God has no desire to strike you with lightning, he loves you so much dude!

Thanks for a great analysis of Stryper's Yahweh. Your honesty and appreciation for the art and artists is refreshing. As a teen I was a big fan of Stryper as I had become a born-again Christian. Especially, when you change your life style and choices to what you're impressed upon by the Lord. Now, as an old fart, I'm glad I recently discovered that Stryper resurfaced and are still making relevant songs that honor the Lord of the universe. If you're ever curious about the song Yahweh, find that Bible Stryper signed and sent to you and look up Matthew chapter 27 in verses 11 to 26 (in context). It might bring some insight in this song. Be well and God bless.
Alot of people don't realize that Michael is one heck of a guitarist. He writes all the songs including riffs, and most of the solo's are his, Oz shares those duties like a Maiden type deal, but MS' solo's are always so tasteful,Melodic... reminds me of Adrian Smiths Solo's where as Dave Murray and Oz to me are more similar.
You are correct, "The Yellow and Black Attack" (1984) was before "Soldiers Under Command" (1985), but most discography websites are using the date for the REMIX version of "The Yellow and Black" attack which was re-released in 1986 on a blue vinyl format and featured 2 previously unreleased songs...so that's where the confusion usually comes from. I love the look on your face when the song kicks in. This is my go to song to play for people who said they liked Stryper in the 80s and never heard any of their new music. I’m a diehard fan and think all of their albums are fantastic except for reborn and murder by pride. Other than those two I still listen to all of their albums regularly. Michael Sweet’s voice is a little more masculine now so it might even be better, and they are heavier. Fantastic band.
Awesome reaction and study of Stryper, my guy. Really well done. These guys still hit hard after 40 years in the industry. They are fantastic! Keep it up, dude! Also, loved your story about them sending you the Bible and writing back - that sounds exactly like the kind of thing they would do. Great reaction, brother!
Yes they were originally Roxx Regime. Back in 1982 during the Summer Rock in SoCal, a band named Metallica opened for Stryper at the Long Beach Bruin Den by which point Roxx Regime was already well known in LA club music circuit.
As a former Christian (now Agnostic), I was not allowed to listen to Stryper becaue the style of musica was 'demonic' to my parents at the time. Today, I am so grateful I get to hear this masterpiece!

As Christians, we understand God's name as "Yahweh," which means "I AM WHO I AM" (Ex. 3:14, NASB) and denotes existence. The Bible teaches that this is God's name, and it identifies Jesus with this name in John 1 where He's presented as the eternal Word who took on human flesh (John 1:1-4, 14) since for the actions of Yahweh in creation are said to have been accomplished by Jesus (Heb. 1:10-11, cf. Ps. 102:1, 25-26; the capitalized English word "LORD" lets the reader know that the Hebrew word being translated is "YHWH"). So, the Christian teaching is that the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit are God as Trinity, and that Jesus came and died for our sins on the cross to forgive us and rose again to assure everyone who would so much as look to Him, to trust in Him, of forgiveness and eternal life (John 3:16).

I never listened to them in the 80's until 2005 when they came back with the reunion. Their music today to me is way better than their old stuff. @@ShaneDiablo Thanks, Shane. I'm doing pretty good. I wanted to recommend one more for you to check out and possibly do a reaction to. It's a christian hard rock/metal band from Seattle called, Bloodgood. The band is named for their bass player, Michael. They have been around since the 80's. The song is called, Lamb of God off of their 2013 album, Dangerously Close. Oz Fox (Stryper) plays on it and is on the actual video. He plays with them from time to time, even though his main focus is with Stryper. Lamb of God is a song that just rocks!!! Lead vocalist, Les Carlsen is a phenomenal singer. Michael Sweet is a better singer overall, imo, but Les, is no slouch. Be well my friend and keep up the great work!!

Then "Soldiers Under Command" came out in 1985. Then "The Yellow and Black Attack" was re-released in 1986 with 2 more tracks added on.

@@ryant3600 To be honest, I love their albums Reborn and Murder by Pride, and consider Reborn to be their comeback album, but I understand that most Stryper fans don't care for those albums very much and tend to favor No More Hell to Pay as the true comeback.
@@screamforjesus-christianmusic I just don't understand that. due to they had been back "officially" for 8 to 9 years by the time NMHTP came out. They had Reborn which is their official comeback, then Murder By Pride which was a great album, then they released "The Covering" which did pretty good and they even toured that album as well, the they did Second Coming re-recording greatest hits album and toured that as well, then released NMHTP.. I have never considered NMHTP as a comeback.
@@ryant3600 Reborn was actually songs Michael intended to use on another solo album but after reuniting with Stryper he played those song demos to the guys and they decided to record them as a Stryper album.
Stryper (Salvation Through Redemption Yielding Peace, Encouragement and Righteousness) is a Christian glam metal band, originally formed in California. They are known for their use of religious and Christian imagery throughout their performances, and are generally considered one of the first outspokenly Christian metal bands. Because of the associations of heavy metal music with Satanism and the occult, many Christian commentators have criticized the bands image, finding it incongruous with the message of Christianity. While the band claim to promote Christianity, opinion is varied as to whether they can be considered representative of the Christian community.
@@TrevyTrev-andTheFunkyPets I gave up on Boston after the Walk on album, But I do like the new singer Tommy Decarlo. I got to see his band last summer in Gastonia N.C.

Fallen is a great album! Even better live last year. The last three have been fantastic, including the new one. Might I suggest Theocracy - Nailed, from a band that climbed on Stryper's back and said, "Hold my beer, would you?"
Dang what a great song. They evolved to a little more power metal instead of glam, I guess, but still sound like Stryper. Great vocals, I really like em.
The last song on the Covering is an original "GOD", as far as GDE it is a plea to the Lord to damn the evil in the world. Perry Richardson from Firehouse is their new bassist
Subject matter aside, these guys can hold their own in any company... Still have Calling On You, Holding On, Free, All For One, Reason For The Season, Wait For You and Rain in the play list to this very day. And UNLIKE you..... I'm no liar.... 😂

Best comment: If doesn't make Jesus rock, nothing will! As a 50 plus, I used to mock the "hair metal" bands back in the day. Now, it's refreshing to hear players who: can stay in tune, know their fretboard cold, have killer tones, and have vocal cords of steel! Well done Stryper!!!
Shane, If you haven't yet, you should definatly get all the new albums since their reunion! I think you will see that their tallent has only gotten eponentially better since the early days! I have no doubt you will be very satified with what you hear.

@@coachmarc2002 yeah I know. Which is why I said I consider MBP their real comeback album. Not Reborn.
Take it to the cross!
Their new album 'Even the devil believes' is their best from start to finish since the 80's
Thank you wikipedia.
Michael Sweet also sang for Boston on one tour
Dale Elmore
Boston is a spiritual type band these days. Their song Higher Power is a clue.
@@TrevyTrev-andTheFunkyPets I gave up on Boston after the Walk on album, But I do like the new singer Tommy Decarlo. I got to see his band last summer in Gastonia N.C.
Fallen and G.D.E. are two heavy albums and the song "Take it to the cross" has growling vocals(tastefully done by Tommy Thayer of Bad Wolves" the band the redid the Cranberries" song "Zombie.
P.S.
Sept. 4 Strypers new album "Even the Devil Believes drops, they just released the first song on TH-cam call "Blood from above"
Hey best friend, if you want to jam to some new Stryper, listen to Sorry!! Jams
Love this album STRYPER 💯🎶🎼🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸
The last song on the Covering is an original "GOD", as far as GDE it is a plea to the Lord to damn the evil in the world. Perry Richardson from Firehouse is their new bassist
Thanks for doing this song! Absolute jam! Because you asked, the name Yahweh comes from ancient Hebrew for Jehovah, which means the Lord.
Subject matter aside, these guys can hold their own in any company...
Still have Calling On You, Holding On, Free, All For One, Reason For The Season, Wait For You and Rain in the play list to this very day.
And UNLIKE you..... I'm no liar.... 😂
Thank you for doing a review on this banger of a song! It's one of my fav Stryper songs. Actually it's now #2 after To Hell With The Devil.
Absolutely AMAZING album! Love it or hate it the talent is in the music!
They are so under rated because they are Christians but they are a kick-ass band. I just saw them last night for their 40th Anniversary Tour and man they're still rocking hard!
I highly recommend that you listen to both albums fallen and God damn evil 😡... Great stuff my friend stay frosty.
Really enjoyed your video, I was ' playing' along with you 🎸 Great band and new album out very soon
Thanks Mathew hope all is well in your world!
Nice Pipes Shane. I was a Huge Stryper fan in the 80's and man all my Thrash Metal Fans gave me shit, funny now they all Listen to them. Just have Great Music, cheese or not. Keep up the Greatness!
Best comment: If doesn't make Jesus rock, nothing will! As a 50 plus, I used to mock the "hair metal" bands back in the day. Now, it's refreshing to hear players who: can stay in tune, know their fretboard cold, have killer tones, and have vocal cords of steel! Well done Stryper!!!
hilarious review...been a longtime Stryper fan, thanks for the feedback
YES THEY DID TOSS BIBLES, guitar picks and drumb sticks!
Hahaha I love your face 🤣... This song is amazing.
Yeah all the time changes in this song surprised me2 when I first heard it I love the song
Shane, If you haven't yet, you should definatly get all the new albums since their reunion! I think you will see that their tallent has only gotten eponentially better since the early days! I have no doubt you will be very satified with what you hear.
I am subscribed now for your rock faces alone during the yaaaahweeeeh parts
