I heard this song and heard of Brandi first time when Miley selected "the story" for one of her artist on "The Voice" ...she totally smashed it! Thanks a lot for bringing to my attention several details of Brandi's performance that I hadn't noticed. You can tell Miley's respect for her, and that she has been one of her influences. Brandi also sings Total Eclipse of the Heart in the New Year's special, totally recommended.

So, I'm not saying you're wrong, because who truly knows, but when you said that due to using speakers as opposed to an IEM, that Brandi is having to "find" the note, I sorta feel like that's not quite giving the living legend the credit she's due. Do you not think at all, that Brandi is perhaps starting out lower and then rising to the proper note on purpose, as a stylistic choice, rather than thinking that she, in all of her professional experience, is unable to properly nail the precise note at will? Just curious as to what your thoughts are on that.
I did consider that! And honestly after listening to it a few times I thank she had a note she wanted to sing, and changed it last minute. It sounds more structural and handled professionally than a "mistake" Even if it were a speaker and hearing issue - the fact that she handled it so well shows her professionalism. The only reason I would argue it wasn't a bend is because when she bends like that earlier in the show it's a very present bend - not 2 notes more defined

Brandi did well but she had a cold that night and her voice was rougher than usual. She usually sounds even better on those songs. Her strength and range are incredible.
I would argue that it’s not a Miley influence. Brandi’s been singing like this since the early 2000’s. Before Miley. Now Miley may have been influenced by Brandi.

It's official, I'm a Miley groupie! I already loved Brandi for this song and now, hereeeeeeee's Miley. My only PS Suggestion: allow the whole song to be played then go back and break it down and have your commentary as you wish and point out the things you want us to be alerted to. I get so into it, then you stop the song and I get lost. Get what I mean? When I listen to her music, I lose myself, but interruptions are not cool.

It's not so much impressive as it shows how confident she is. Floor monitors sounds great but can come with limitations and issues. Not saying ears don't either - just for the set up and the exposure I find the choice interesting
I, personally, have a hard time commiting to inears for a whole show - BUT - it's like being able to choose perfect sounds or loud and situational sound
I’d watch more of your “reaction” /breakdown videos if you would play in full then go back over so that you could take the performance in as a whole first.
Miley seems to switch it up with her notes when she sings the Climb! I have heard a few of her recent performances of the Climb, her backyard session for Disney she sang The Climb and it sounded awesome! Her range is pretty insane!!
