    Honestly though, like for YEARS I didn’t know Angelina Jolie was John Voits daughter, but that’s because Angelina made such a path for herself

      @PureSparkles22 To you, now. But you can say that about Apataw as well. The point is he was steadily working for decades and won awards, so he has been 'industry' for a long time.

      It perpetuates elitism and keeps talent down. Let's not be glad for nepotism but people earning their spots.

    • @hectorsmommy1717

      @@thornyback Anyone with an actual career in show business earned their spots. Just because their introduction was easier than others doesn't mean that they did not do the work to carve out a career. Do you seriously think that famous nepo babies like Ron Howard, Jeff Bridges, Joaquin Phoenix, Michael Douglas, Whitney Houston, Carly Simon, Sigourney Weaver, etc. etc. etc. did not deserve their accolades? All got their start because of family members.

      I understand where you are coming from and tbh i agree with you but you've missed the concept of the video. I like Jack Quaid's take on the debate. He agreed that he was a nepo baby (he went as far as using the phrase) and acknowleged that he got opportunities because his parents were stars; saying ultimately he needs to work hard and carve his own path. It a very self aware view.

    • @einat1622
      @einat1622 7 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      @cookiedough905 I agree on that. Still, carving your own path is not working in the same family line of work (or even go as far as name changing).

    • @cookiedough905
      @cookiedough905 6 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      @@einat1622 at the of the day it's their choice. It's unfair (and not to mention cynical) to say "they haven't carved their own path" just because they work in the same industry as their parents. Nepotism exists in every industry and in some cultures (esp south asian) children are expected and in fact celebrated for following their parents footsteps. The least we can do is provide some praise to those who are trying step out of their parent's shaddows (though i disagree with Gwenyth Paltrow, not to diss her or anything but their are others who deserve the a spot for the sake of the list). Please don't get me wrong I'm not trying to defend them and I agree they have it much easier than others but I think we also need to respect their choice to work in the same industry as their parents. Let's just agree to disagree on this.
