If they add Norway as a culture, they need crusader king Sigird. Went all the way from Scandinavia down to the Mediterranean wrecking house wherever he went then returned via land from Byzantium and giving his ships and some men (into the Varangian guard) to the emperor.
Did weather and natural disasters make it into the game? I love the feeling of having a living world that feels organic like it could be a real version of history. I want the planet to feel real and i think better disasters and natural events helps with that.
Absolutely mixed feelings. If you love the old games of course there will be something you miss in civ 7. But I don't think the hate will be half as strong as the hate civ 5 got back in the day. With expansions it turned out to be a pretty good game :)
@@DeSackOfPotatoes I have been a lover of Civilization since Civ III and I do hope this is another hit. I have serious doubts after this video though. The art design does look improved over Civ 6, I like that cliffs are now actual parts of the landscape and can be inland. However, again, you will notice its very similar is style and function as Humankind's maps. My worry is more that this is imitation rather than inspiration.
I like how in game you can choose “democracy” as your government but everything goes as you say… 😃 Don’t say it is unrealistic. That is just how my home country Turkey is governed today.
Considering most games end around the industrial age or sooner, 3 ages sounds good to experience more. It just depends on how they handle the new ages mechanics of legacies.
so far it sounds like the antiquity age will be able to be a "complete" game on its own in the way that we can currently get to the medieval era or so and see the writing on the wall and players will abandon the save.
The Ages is an excellent change. They said it: "we are trying to teach through this game." Historical emersion is a core value of the Civilization series, and this brings it more to fruition. Civilizations should ally and compete against their contemporaries. As a gamer, I would rather my civilization be relevant to every era of the game. The new Leaders mechanic looks great for creativity in how you build your kit. Graphics look incredible

Tbf Civilizations evolve over time throughout history. The Roman Empire despite falling, it continued onwards through the Eastern and Western Roman Empires. The Chinese civilization today is not the same as it once was in Ancient China. Just because civilizations change, does not discount the efforts made in the past.
Because civilisations change over time. I don't think there is a single civilisation that has stood unchanged over millennia. Even ancient civilisations that still exist today like China and India are vastly different today from what they used to be. I can see how odd it can feel to start a game as the Aztects, then become Mongolia and end the game as America. But in my opinion, if it opens up diversity and flexibility in gameplay, then I'm willing to take that
I agree - I think they made a misstep. Change the Leader, not the Civilisation... Although, definitely also evolve that civilisation, keep the same name, or have the historical path name though... As GameTheory observed.
@@NikolaHoward I hear of a logical benefit of having changing Civs is a means to instantly know what the player should look out for regarding said opposing Civ. For example, when you see "Mongolia", there's an easy expectation of their play style. Despite them not being Mongolia in the previous age. Keeping the Civ names the same only makes things needlessly confusing in a gameplay standpoint.

If they never went far from their roots then there wouldn't be a point in making a new game. @@gametheory3458 The game changed a lot over the years, I'm saying like someone who played since the first game in the 90-s. In terms of gameplay, strategy, mechanics etc civ6 is drastically different from civ1, there's no denying this. Yes I can't wait to see what late game city cap numbers look like
I would imagine that the city cap relates to a administrative limit for the empire. Also finally gives a reason to raze instead of capture.
