What are Pied Parrotlet?
The Pied Parrotlet is a parrotlet bird known for its special markings. The word “pied” is defined as a marbleized appearance consisting of 2 or more color variations. The color patterns are due to a mutation of the basic parrotlet colors (mostly blue and green) which occurs when 2 birds breed that already have this genetic mutation.
With the Pied parrotlet you'll notice there are more than just one solid color, the pied bird happens when the mutation causes these colors to be spread out with patches of spots of yellow on the green pied parrotlet and white on the blue pied Parrotlet. This will give the bird a mottled appearance. These birds create an interesting mix of colors and unique rare markings that make the bird really stand out amount other parrotlets.
