- Check out this rare footage of Redd Foxx discussing his friendship with Malcolm X during the civil rights movement of 1964. Don't miss this historical moment!
Rare Redd Foxx interview on Malcolm X and his choices on militancy in the 1960s fight for civil rights.
Foxx was nothing like his character. He’s refined, articulate, and aware.
Exactly!!!
Uh, excuse me, Fred Sanford was a very classy man! Just because he wasn’t rich doesn’t mean he wasn’t cultured or refined or had taste, grace or savoir faire.
I heard he and Jonathan Harris were good friends. Jonathan has explained how he found himself being the only white person at one of Redd's parties. Remember him? Dr. Zachary Smith on "List in Space". ("Oh, the pain, the pain!")
@@thomasferranti6736 "YOU INCOMPETENT NINNY" Dr. Smith was a character LMAO!!!!!
On point and well articulated observation. 👍
Malcolm X mentioned working with Redd Fox as a dishwasher in his autobiography and he said then Redd was funny.
That's awesome .
Yup, I red that in his autobiography as well
Was that in Boston? Because I'm pretty sure Malcom worked as a dishwasher at one time in Boston
Yep he said there was another Red because Malcolm was Michigan Red.
They worked on a Train. It ran from New York to Baltimore at the time, I believe I read that in Malcom's Autobiography.@Gregory-sm9pf
He did help in his own way. He helped minorities get into showbusiness including Pat Morita
Also Richard Pryor and Paul Mooney were writers for his show.
The 'Pay It Forward' story Pat gave about Redd showed the kind of person Redd was 😊
Him and Malcolm were both called Red too!
I wish he kept his hair like this while he was doing Sanford and son!
He helped the woman who played Aunt Esther ( Lawanda Page) also.
The Brother is truly missed..much love.

He was funny love Sanford and son
Yes he was!
He was a pain in the ass..... But, we love him he was so funny.
When I see or hear this man it reminds me of a much more pleasant time. Always liked his style. I was far to young watching him and Benny Hill.
@@MidgetMalone when my daughter was a little girl 22 yrs ago she would the the music at the beginning and come running to watch even though she did understand the comedy

Seeing him talk normally makes me appreciate his craft even more.
Brother Jay Villa you not really surprised at the articulated expression of speech are you or did/do you think all stereotypes in front of the camera or in music aren't just acting to get paid and since the Gentiles control all avenues of revenue stream connected to mainstream media they only want to see Shemites play the shuck and jive type stereotypes that most of the Gentile population actually believe 😂😅
I agree seeing videos like this on TH-cam adds a whole new dimension to the people I see in the entertainment industry

Hell with Malcolm, he done gone 🤨

I only found out recently that the "X" was because he didn't actually know his ancestors' name. The "X" was a placeholder for his unknown name.
The only one that deserves respect is Malcolm, betrayed by the government and the musilm organization.
@@richardturner7664: Not the hell with Malcolm! That's why black people in america will always be devided and ultimately be devoured by america.

I met Redd Foxx in real life once. He was a very nice person. I was a groundskeeper at the hotel he was staying at. He gave me an autographed picture of himself. He shook my hand and asked me to take a picture with him with his publisher. I'll never forget that. What a nice guy,

According to Malcolm X biography, they both ran the streets together. . . Redd Foxx was known as St. Louis Red. Malcolm was Detroit RED. There were a few men in their crew with reddish hair so they each adopted nicknames based on their hometowns
They were both draft dodgers

Redd was a very intelligent, thoughtful man. My father drove limousines and taxis from 1950 until 1983 in San Francisco. Whenever he drove for Redd he said Redd never treated him like someone beneath him, loved talking and always tipped well. In fact my late pops had Redd as an all time great tipper.
Man that's a great story thanks for sharing
💥On the streets BEFORE his conversion Malcolm X was known as Detroit Red, and Redd Foxx was known as Chicago Red although Foxx's real hometown was St.Louis Missouri where he was also known as "Red"!😉
Redd Foxx was Chicago Red
They met while working the kitchen at a club when they were young and thats how folks told them apart because they were both named Red.
It was Jimmy's Chicken Shack at 763 St Nicholas Ave...it's a Ethiopian restaurant now.
They slept on rooftops together
No. Redd Fox was St. Louis Red. Chicago Red was a friend of theirs who got arrested for bank robbery. They all worked on the train
I love seeing how articulate he was in real life! Goes to show how talented he was on Sanford and Son. RIP Redd Foxx. ❤️💔❤️
This man"s humor brings multitudes of people together in laughter posthumously❤❤❤
We love them both. RIP Brothers!
Brilliantly said.
True
Malcolm talked about Redd in his book.
Yea I redd it😅
And in the "Malcolm X" movie his name was "Red"
Malcolm's nickname was Red in real life when he was young.

Two “reds” in the same room!

Thank you for everything Mr. Red Foxx
What l respect most about him is he threw a lifeline to all his St Louis friends gave them careers. Him and Malcom ran the streets together. Then went on different career paths
Well Put Mr. Fox 👑 🎤
Amazing that two of my favorite human beings were best friends in Harlem
Red Foxx he knew what to say and what not to say. He lived through the time that could have killed him if you showed black unity. Living through that time showed the greatest intelligence.
100% agreed, but now you got people complaining of racism because they can't get what they want and yet there are more black millionaires and billionaires than ever and now they want reparations, just work for a living
Great observation. I've learned to respect the Veteran Black celebrity and elderly Black community. They were not confrontational but moved in silence. They secured a position in a very racist society for themselves. This opened doors for the rest of us.
Or the greatest cowardice...🤷🏽🤷🏽🤷🏽
Very true and well said!

Speak on it Redd Foxx❤
I had the privilege of meeting Mr. Foxx when I was 5 years old. My mother was changing my baby brother behind our station wagon while parked at Sears and Roebuck in Vegas back in the 70s. He was in character as Fred Sanford as he walked down the length of the parking lot on his way to enter Sears to sign autographs. My mother yelled out, "Redd Foxx!!! Redd Foxx!!!" He stopped and said, "How you doing, Darlin?" He was a kind soul. I learned a bit about his life when I became an adult, and he got himself into situations trying desperately to help others. He was a good soul even if some of his material would not be the kind my family would watch or listen to. He was a good person.
Probably my favorite ever! 👍👍

Red Foxx owned a home on my childhood street in South Central Los Angeles. We, all the neighborhood kids, loved when he came home. He gifted turkeys to every family on the block on holidays. He was so cool. He was rich, rich. This was when *Sanford & Son* was on TV.
