eh, of all the IPs Nintendo owns, Star Fox is probably the only one Nintendo just does not care if it gets ported, they haven't thought about Star Fox in years
@@Omnifarious0 That was a Ubisoft game, and they licensed Starfox for some add-on content for the Switch version. Nintendo didn't really do anything there.
13:45 - 14:19 ok, that part about the tweet by StarFox 64 designer being happy about it is wild. But I guess that's the gamer in his heart speaking. But Fox McCloud is also his favorite, based on article at gamesradar by Catherine Lewis. I really hope if a StarFox movie is being made, they bring him onboard.
Star Fox 64 PC port is great, even upon its first public release there's not much to complain about! No native Linux binary out the gate, but I found that I could build a functional appimage using the instructions provided on Github. I'm told there were issues with crashing above 30 fps in the Linux and Mac builds, but I have yet to encounter any game breaking bugs, and I've played enough to score all but one medal in normal mode so far.
I first built it with gcc, but it kept crashing. Building with clang fixed it for me, works absolutely fine now. cmake --build build-cmake --config Release -DCMAKE_C_COMPILER=clang -DCMAKE_CXX_COMPILER=clang++ I'm currently trying to figure out how to get it running on Bazzite
@@frankseyen9156 Interesting. I compiled using gcc on Fedora Workstation 41. I'm not too up on my programming terminology though. I know just enough to follow a guide, so I'm thankful that it just works for me.
Im glad Nintendo HASN'T been going after these ports. Even the Mario 64 ones are all still fine. Kinda suprising actually because on checking all the github bookmarks I had from that project all still work 💪🏻💪🏻
Thank the Maker! I'm glad that Ship of Harkinian and its like have been allowed to mature into the high quality open source projects they are today. I just checked out SoH again recently, and it is looking _nice_. I thought texture packs for games in emulators were hot stuff back in the day, now we're importing new 3D models and all that jazz! Can't wait to see what modders do with Starship.
Happy to see Binding of Isaac still at the top, but early this year I put him down and got hooked on Enter the Gungeon. I'm not sure why EtG isn't as synonymous as Isaac. I get that you can get more hours from Isaac though.
Civilization I play this series since the first game (but started on SNES, its an excellent port). Can't wait to see how it will turn out to be. About the specs, I don't care much, because the context is missing. We don't know what resolution and fps and what quality settings they target, so its meaningless. The only information I need to know is, that it works on Linux. :-)
MHR, Chrono Trigger, DBFZ, Aliens Fireteam Elite, PoE. PoE2 plays well, but it craps my PC game for some reason; it won't load if I play it on my Deck (LCD). The initial load screen gets jacked up and hangs there. I have to uninstall/reinstall to fix it (PC).
It is hilarious you think Gardiner's coverage of this would have anything to do with Nintendo finding out about such a very public and well known project.
I no longer have a steam deck as I prefer the GPD win 4. But my most time spent on game had been BattleTech it plays very well on small screen and looks amazing and IV been recently playing with the Mod rouge tech it's tuff but makes the game so much more interesting and fun
steam deck >> RX580 . But that RX580 still rocks thanks to Valve (paying for) a lot of driver fixes. As a matter of fact, my RX580 as eGPU on a T430 (2012 laptop) made running GTA V a breeze... And that was thanks to Valve way before they announced why they fixed so much of the AMD drivers :-).
I played Noita a lot on my Steam Deck. Pretty fun rogue-lite game with secrets and a really cool wand system. Also, I can also vouch for Dropsy being an amazing game. It has a great art style and animations, the music is really good, and as you said such a good, heartfelt story.
Switch 2 will dominate the market within a few months. 1500 CUDA cores, Nvidia techs, hybrid console, thin form factor, long battery life, etc. At 400€ there are no chances for the handhelds in my opinion.
Switch 2 will likely be great but the pc handhelds have their place in the market now. There are lots of people out there myself included that love being able to play their steam games anywhere they want.
@@dylangirard4670 yeah they are, so far a niche. And with a cost of nearly 1000€ for the next generation it will remain so, for another year at least. Nothing against PC handhelds but so far they are heavy, thick, limited battery life, a lot of games are not optimized for them, etc. Nintendo is just another world, they build real portable game machines for the many.

That's not fully true. They released a game (Starlink: Battle for Atlas) with a Star Fox crossover recently.
They dont really need to care to be lawsuit trigger happy

I agree, when Nintendo games got taken off of vimms lair. The StarFox games are still up as if Nintendo just didn't care
Nuck Fintendo

Firaxis has always been bully on Linux. They were one of Loki games first customers for their second game, Alpha Centari.
After quite a bit of tweaking, got elite dangerous to play well on the deck and does well enough docked up to my tv
Nintendo hasn't gone after the mario 64 port yet, they know there's nothing they can do.

Videos like this is why nintendo finds and shuts alot of things down xD

Why??? Why they always choose the best hardware for windows devices?
I specifically remember you challenging Nintendo during the Yuzu era. Please don't
Where do I get a Radeon GTX 1060? ;)

WOULD YOU BUY A STEAM DECK AT THIS STAGE OF ITS LIFE ??
Yes, considering there's no alternative that parallels it in input versatility, value and convenience (imagine having to deal with 🤮Windows🤮)
its like 2 years old, effectively brand new and way better supported than any windows handheld. so... yes, who wouldnt?
Help. I cant find the smash button.
