Well done Roger. Sensitively produced video. Loved how you included your self, your innocent heart and inquisitive mind. Loved the complimentary drawing and undrawing at the end. You enhanced my experience of Greg's words... and made the experience of non-duality more accessible to me. Thank you for the enlightening journey. Please do more... you have a gift.
I just stumbled across you Greg. I previously got into nonduality via Adyashanti and Mooji...both on youtube. Like them, you seem very genuine and lucid in your mannerisms. You seem like a very bright and kind person as well. Definitely one of the more clear ways this concept has been explained...
thank you for doing the drawings as they helped me notice this for the first time. I have never gone that deep in the subtle objects within myself. I always thought that my soul soul was somehow integrated or attached with my localized body. This really "blew" my mind. That sense of what i always thought was my soul is still another layer subtle object. wow, i just have to process what i just real I zed
Is non-specific or thoughtless awareness that which is Universal or Transcendent awareness? The senses, thoughts, feelings and intuitions are more locatable in your subtle body, once vibratory awareness gives direct perception of the 3 nadis and 7 major chakras, after Kundalini Yoga Self-Realisation awakening. But the non-dual state of true Sahaja Samadhi is beyond Savikalpa and Nirvikalpa states which are manifesting above the Sahasrara at ardabindu and bindu and Valaya. Thoughtless awareness may be accessed by Bhakti and Gyan (Self-inquiry) but to deduce your awareness as Universal is not Realisation, its just a by-product of closing down the dualism in your thinking and recognising your are not your body-mind. OK its great to detach from body mind and feelings and identify more with your awareness, but is it the true Universal Transcendent and Immanent Realisation of Sahaja Samadhi? This is a good Self-Inquiry exercise and a strong step in the right direction, as is Sahaha Kundalini Yoga initiation.
I do not understand your comment. Any searching is done by the ego which is just a thought and it does not exist. By the way, you do not have free will. Watch on youtube, Sam Harris speaking on FREE WILL, I hope you will be able to understand him. Good luck.
You know how fundamentalist Christians rename the universe a "creation" and say 'Therefore there must be a creator'... I worry that in calling it an 'arising' you're saying that it therefore must be arising 'in' something. You posit a 'something' that is aware of it, but I'm not convinced that 'awareness' exists as a separate thing. I think you're taking what really should be a simple description of a process aware-ness, like other 'ness's, it's not a real thing, it's a process or a mechanism or whatever...It's just visual sensations running in the brain, thoughts running in the brain, etc... it doesn't have to be arising in anything, does it? When you posit something like an awareness, that leaves a huge vacuum for feelings (like love) to rush in as you 'shift' into what is really just an altered state and a new identity 'the awareness' or 'THAT'. There is definitely no 'me', but the other core tenet of nonduality is suspect to me, for now.
+SelfImmolator Oh language.. ;) Yes, "arising" points that there is an object; something that arises (which is really just a localized snap-shot of one process) and the "background" from where the object is separated. But written knowledge is bound to using concepts. Fortunately there are teachings for every level of understanding from coarse to subtle.
Most people need concepts to understand that ultimately there are no real concepts. We need a methodology, so Vedanta gives us a false superimposition that corresponds to everyone's delusion, i.e three bodies gross/subtle and that which can only be inferred the causal. Then it proceed's to destroy the three and leaves us naked and all-one /alone as we always really are. The basis of everything, not that there is anything to be the basis of.
If there is no you then who the hell is typing and who talks, loves, lives etc. The me is apparent and is always experienced, Even the self is a me, albeit a big me that is actionless, unconcerned, non-dual, isness, and the essence of this apparent but experienced world. Do not be too quick to dismiss yourself. In fact God which is the light loves you even though God only 'sees' God as in awareness is self-aware, what is there in this lovely world to escape from? Bhakta's from India often scoff at liberation schools of thought because they say that everything is God i.e pure bliss and love and so why even want to get rid of the ego, when all that needs to happen is a small understanding. An understanding that I am God - awareness and so I can accommodate a little wayward ego-dream.
Nathan Jones There is no way for one to dismiss oneself. What would that be, but another (silly) belief? "I am not", when you clearly experience being. The Bhaktas don't seem to understand (true) liberation schools, as they're not about getting _rid_ of the ego. But about realizing the true nature of ones being (the same as with Bhaktas apparently). When that realization (aka awakening) happens, everything falls into place.
Nathan Jones 'We' are biological machines. The human body is typing, the various processes of the brain are causing the illusion of a 'me' and leading to your ignorant insistence that there must be a 'being' for things to happen. The 'me' is NOT always experienced. Sensations, thoughts, feelings etc are experienced and they happen so fast with a dash of evolutionary pressure to trick the thoughts and feelings into concluding there's a 'you'. I'm sick of spiritualist nonsense. 'We' are organic robots, get over it.
The real question is, WHO IS TRYING TO FIND HIMSELF OR HERSELF? The answer is the EGO, which is just another thought. The question should be WHO IS BEFORE ANY THOUGHT?

I take your question for honest, so I answer. Ramana would say, find out whose question this is. Isnt the "my question" another arising object? who does it belong to? I. Notice this I is just a thought, another arising object...its ego. And before you had find out that you were not what you perceive. Then REMAIN AS the constant formless perceiver, the Self. This alone is all what you need to do to realize that you are the one and only immortal GOD. Have a beautiful day.

brilliant way to point out unlocated awareness. Thanks for posting!
Fantastic, really enjoyed the collapsing of held concepts here, bit by bit, thanks so much!

beautiful video. I also like the music. thank you.
Video really nicely made. Thank you!
Cool. I just started reading 'Real-World Nonduality' and that's what brought me here.
Now I'm gonna give a thumbs up to thetherball23. 🙏💖
Wow! Something I'd never considered to look at that is so obvious when pointing to it.😊
So amazing
The ending is all I had to hear. The presence that I am does not come and go.
Does anyone know the name and composer of the musical piece?
Brilliant.
Keep doing this... then you're on your way to being #Enlightened
I feel the oneness with ground beef mince
A very clear, penetrating and interesting Self-inquiry exercise! Must try this!
I understand less of self--inquiry the more I watch. Understood nothing in the video.
I just realized Greg Goode looks an awful lot like Locke in the television series Lost. :P
Wonderful :-)

Too many words/too many concepts. What is aware of all those words and concepts that’s the only contemplation to practice. Awareness is not exotic.
Awsome!
OK, but describe this searching, thought filled ego(and be certain to let us know if you manage to find it!).
