Thanks for commenting on the song, Tyler. It was a fun project. I wrote the song and recorded it in a studio in Barrie, ON. Chris then added the harmony and the one-liners. His son Evan Hadfield brought a Toronto production company to the cottage and we filmed a lot of goofy video which you see edited into this final version. Kielbasa is more west European like Germany. Kubassa is eastern European. We have the largest Ukrainian population outside of Ukraine including my family. Virtually free land was given to east European's to populate and farm western Canada.
Right at the beginning of the video, it shows the brothers as teens in their Royal Canadian Air Cadet uniforms. It's a great place to start your journey to being a pilot or more.
It’s more commonly now sold as Kolbassa. It also was referred to as Polish coil, since it was commonly made as a coil of ham sausage a couple of meters long and about 16 inches of coil diameter. I grew up with the stuff bought from a Polish deli since the version in supermarkets was a poor facsimile of it properly prepared. My Russian/Ukranian parents only called it kolbassa.

3:33 Kielbasa is a sausage ring of meat eaten by Ukrainians and Polish. In one of your other videos it was noted that there are a lot of Ukrainian people and therefore a great cultural influence here in Canada. *My thoughts go out to Ukraine in these trying times.*
There are a lot of Polish people in Canada too who of course eat Kielbasa/Polish sausage. My heart & thoughts & prayers CONTINUE to go out to the people of Ukraine & Gaza. I wish for peace, health, safety, their territories back & the continued life of all of those still left alive.
Like most things in Canada, that influence is regional. It picks up slightly in SW Ontario, then gets HUGE in the western prairies. It has to do with where we were settling when different waves of immigration came.
You're enthusiasm towards us Canadians is AWESOME! I'm French Canadian and proud Canadian. We're a great people, but we rarely reflect on it. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and enthusiasm 😊
When patriotism is IN YOUR FACE, is it to convince others or yourself? If you love the country you live in, you don't have to advertise and announce it. You just live it.
Very simple. Canada, and canadians, stands for something much higher than "arrogance". For us, hubris and selfishness are not signs of strenght and caracter. Not at all , , ,not by a 1,6 km. . . .Here, respecting each other (as long as the respect goes both way) will carry you much further. And those americans who take this for a weakness and/or a lack of patriotism, might be in for quite a surprise.
I have heard and seen this song by the Hadfield's. I love it!! Most Canadian's have heard this song, depending on how long they have lived here. They are very talented bro's!!
@@viddork I've been wondering how are they, in the sub zero temps? Chris Hatfield has a summer home on an island that is very close to my son, daughter in law and the kids. They have met him on several occasions. Nothing but great things to say about him.
Chris Hadfield was pretty famous about a decade ago for engaging with people over the Internet while on the International Space Station. Back in 2013 he recorded the first music video ever recorded in space (a cover of David Bowie's Space Oddity).
How is your free universal healthcare there? Wait you don't get that in the racist fascist banana republic of USA where most people are criminals.. Have you been shot yet or shot at many times by Yankee criminals?

Thanks Tyler for airing the Hadfield Brothers making Canada proud! It’s always nice when an American notices and appreciates a sampling of our world-renowned talent - especially as Canadians scramble to mount a defence against the threats that your newly-inaugurated president has been levelling on our economy - and even sovereignty! What a shame that half of American voters gave one elevated huckster the power to damage a partnership that has been a boon for both nations. It would be awesome if your gracious discovery and public recognition of Canada as worthy of the patriotism we see in the music video would be more widespread/ xo
Check out “Space Oddity “ performed by Chris Hadfield from the space station . You seemed confused by the line “Kiss a cod in Canada” . This is a reference to being “Screeched in “ in Newfoundland. A ritual where you can become an honorary Newfoundlander . One of the steps is to kiss an actual cod fish . ✌️💕🇨🇦 * my apologies to Bowie for massacring the title. I’m calling it a brain fart ! That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.
The ‘Screeched In’ ceremony is acted out and sung about in the musical “Come From Away” (the musical based on the events following 9/11 win Gander Newfoundland and the surrounding communities took care of over 7000 passengers when 38 planes were diverted to GanderAirport). The musical was filmed shortly after Covid restrictions were lifted and can be seen on Apple TV.
Sorel is a winter boot brand, very warm, Kamik is also a brand. He sang from space often and had story times for kids too. Very proud of our fellow Canadian. Kiss the cod refers to a Newfoundland tradition.
I have never heard this song before, and I'm Canadian (Saskatchewan and Quebec), and I love Chris Hadfield. Saw him live in Saskatoon maybe 10 yrs ago, and was very proud of him on the International Space Station, at which time I was homeschooling. Thanks so much for sharing this! Priceless!
We wear snowsuits...sorta like a onesie outer wear for the cold! And the food Chris Hadfield mentioned was kielbasa a Polish sausage. In Newfoundland when you go for a drink at a pub if you are a tourist or "from away" then you have to first kiss a cod.... Bonne Fête is the French for Happy Birthday...
Here's a Canadian anomaly... Creating a Halloween costume that fits OVER that equally beloved and despised snowsuit! We love the suits for their warmth, but for a kid, they're like wearing the Michelin Man's tires, most require a second person to assist with getting boots, mittens and scarves on, and once you've made it through the struggles, are finally dressed and ready to go outside, you'll be overwhelmed by the sudden urge to pee, where at least ONE zipper will impede your attempts to undress! Yes, the struggle is REAL...
Best part of that video is it's so typical of the family at the cottage in the summer in Ontario. Chillin' at the lake, playing guitars, hangin' around the campfire and setting off holiday fireworks on the beach. Great song ... Great video!
Cool song! Chris Atfield took a moment one day to enjoy my grandson and I and my little guy showed me he could read Chris’ book so I could buy it for him. So loving and sincere!
I got to meet Chris &his lovely wife in Ireland a number of years ago. He gave a talk on his experiences as an astronaut. He made us laugh when he said how he navigated outer space but got lost on his way to Armagh City Observatory. His talk was worth the wait. Love the song 'In Canada'. Canada belongs to the Canadians.
Tyler you need to come together Canada in June or even just be around a Canadian on Canada Day. We collectively go loud and proud. We are always proud, we are just humble about it most of time!
ANOTHER video/song you should see Tyler is one on TH-cam entitled - "I'm Not Crying" by (actor) Ryan Reynolds. This video shows when Ryan received (in a virtual ceremony because of Covid) the Governor General's Award. (It is one of the highest awards you can receive in Canada.) Ryan received NOT JUST his medal (which he is wearing), but ALSO a song created FOR HIM (which would be another great honour) by Steven Page - who was part of one of the biggest Canadian groups in the 80s - The Barenaked Ladies. The song is quirky (in typical Barenaked Ladies fashion) & focuses on a LOT of the great financial support Ryan Reynolds made (& continues to make) to Canadian organisations that were especially in need during the pandemic. The song is called "Canada Loves You Back" but watch the "I'm Not Crying" version of it on TH-cam. (Just so you don't miss it, the plaid Steven Page is wearing & the axe/lumber cutting is a tease at Ryan Reynolds since Ryan is from B.C. - which contain a lot of the country's lumberjacks & are teased/stereotyped for it.) I would greatly look forward to your review of this other (really great song.) Hope you will do so. Enjoy the rest of your weekend, Tyler & the same to everybody else out there. *** Make SURE you watch TO THE VERY END OF THIS VIDEO, TYLER, to hear the STILL IMPORTANT message from an Indigenous Chief. (This song/video always makes ME cry!!) Ryan Reynolds is not just a good actor, he is a GREAT man!
I have two other suggestions, on TOTAL opposite ends of our "Canadian-ness" spectrum. The first is Log-Driver's Waltz, and the second is the Last Saskatchewan Pirate. Second one's more or less a comedy/parody kind of thing, while the former is more of a traditional folk song of ours, and log-driving was an EXQUISITELY dangerous job. They've got other ways of handling lumber now. Watch the little cartoon that goes with it, because it pretty much explains the job with visuals.

He said I was working hard running around the past few days and my camera rig looked really cool. He signed my book, and then he took my camera rig, and took a photo with me. So now I have a photo of me and Chris Hadfield with him holding my camera rig proudly. You should see the smile on my face it's like I'm on the International Speace Station. He's a Canadian icon, hero, and treasure.
Ahhhh! That is such a special memory! Love Mr. Hatfield. He is a Canadian treasure.
Kobasa is a Ukrainian sausage
Apparently he lives in my neighbourhood, near High Park. I hope to bump in to him one day. That’d be cool.
@@62CristoforoI believe he lives near Cambridge, by Kitchener. I know he owns a homestead there
I guess High Park was an old address. Homestead you say? Guy’s livin’ the dream ....
In Hamilton Ontario there is a popular kielbassa called Beach Rd. Kielbassa.
Like most things in Canada, that influence is regional. It picks up slightly in SW Ontario, then gets HUGE in the western prairies. It has to do with where we were settling when different waves of immigration came.
Influence of what?@@tristanridley1601

Hey Tyler! Sooo glad you are educating your fellow Americans on our great country, 🇨🇦 CANADA 🇨🇦 the best place to be in North America! 😊
My sister met Chris Hadfield when she was helping to organize an air show several years ago. She said he was just as nice as he appears in the media.
Of course we have heard this before and I’ve very happy that you reminded us of this great song
They are amazing for sure
And his brother, Dave is just as humble and down to earth! (Friend of my brother)
Beautiful family!💕💕💕💕
When patriotism is IN YOUR FACE, is it to convince others or yourself? If you love the country you live in, you don't have to advertise and announce it. You just live it.
We love your TH-cams From Canada.❤
Thank you!
Tyler, you drive my wife crazy but you make me realize how lucky we are to be Canadian. Thx Mate
What a truly patriotic and quintessentially Canadian song! ❤ It made me smile all the way through. Thank you from a proud Canadian 🇨🇦
We are Canadian and proud of it,hence the song, proudly Canadian always.
I loved the Friendly Giant as a child, such a wholesome program!
yeh, him and Mr. Dressup
@ absolutely!
Me too😃❤️🦫👍
Mine too, I just learned was originally an American program until 1958
Bob Homme was awesome growing up....shout out to Rusty and Jerome.
And those americans who take this for a weakness and/or a lack of patriotism, might be in for quite a surprise.
well said!
I have heard and seen this song by the Hadfield's. I love it!! Most Canadian's have heard this song, depending on how long they have lived here. They are very talented bro's!!
The hadfields have made us proud
Plug in the car refers to a block heat which you plug in during very cold nights to keep the engine warm so it will start in the morning.
Well, I live in Vancouver, so when I plug in my car, I plug in my _car,_ not a block heater! (It's an EV, obviously.)
@@viddork I've been wondering how are they, in the sub zero temps? I know we haven't had a good freeze here, for awhile, but with the slight drop we had last week, did it make any difference to your car's start in the morning? Have you driven it in the snow, yet? (Not that we've had ANY of that, here, over on the island, either...)
Why are you so surprised.? LOTS OF TALENT HERE,
Chris Hatfield has a summer home on an island that is very close to my son, daughter in law and the kids. They have met him on several occasions. Nothing but great things to say about him.
The Friendly Giant. A beloved tv show from the 60's

I’ve seen Dave perform at the Jet Aircraft Museum in London Ontario. Dave was a commercial pilot with over 30000 hours. Both brothers are amazing.
Chris Hadfield was pretty famous about a decade ago for engaging with people over the Internet while on the International Space Station. Back in 2013 he recorded the first music video ever recorded in space (a cover of David Bowie's Space Oddity).
I loved it.
Not just a decade ago still is so I’m sorry if I disagree
The Maple Leaf Forever!
Here's a Canadian who's never heard this song before. I'm surprised that I haven't. Thanks for introducing it to me. It was great!
I'm Canadian, married to an American, and living in the US. Love your videos.
How is your free universal healthcare there? Wait you don't get that in the racist fascist banana republic of USA where most people are criminals.. Have you been shot yet or shot at many times by Yankee criminals?
I'm sorry to hear that! NOT the married part... The living in the US part! Would you move you and your other half back up here, if you could? I spent a year in Phoenix, Az, years ago, and I loved it, but there's a lot to be said for the free health care and how accepting of other's differences we are up here.
So proud to be Canadian eh wish you all have the Canadian sprit and joy we feel for our home ❤
He has performed from the international space station
Space station 😂😂😂😂😂😂🤪
@@Rezzmann-w8e what is funny about that?
@WasReloading He's most likely one of those flat headed flat earthers who think space isn't real.
The space station is fake. Just like Hadfield.
@ Like the ones that launch themselves into the atmosphere to see if theres a curve in the earth? 🤣
We dont have to tell people how great we are because they know
Check out “Space Oddity “ performed by Chris Hadfield from the space station .
The Screech usually helps. Usually.
@@radbaron 👍🤣👍
The other half of the ceremony is that you have to take a swig of "Newfie Screech". So named because of the sound you make after taking said swig.
Dropping “gs” as in “How’s it Goin’, eh?”
Sorel is a winter boot brand, very warm, Kamik is also a brand. He sang from space often and had story times for kids too. Very proud of our fellow Canadian.
Kiss the cod refers to a Newfoundland tradition.
Love this! I just showed it to my class last week. Canadian Pride is real! His Space Oddity when he was on the ISS is worth a watch too.
We truly have remarkable people who can entertain around a fire
Proud to be Canadian. Gods little piece of Heaven on earth. ❤
I just love the vibe, truly Canadian!!
Great song!! Thanks for playing it!! A Canadian!
Hi Tyler, from Hamilton, Ontario, Canada 🇨🇦 have a great day !!!! ❤️
Priceless!
So glad you brought this to my attention because I hadn't heard it before and I'm Canadian! That was really enjoyable!
I passed the test ! I’m true Canadian. I userstand it all.❤🇨🇦
We wear snowsuits...sorta like a onesie outer wear for the cold! And the food Chris Hadfield mentioned was kielbasa a Polish sausage. In Newfoundland when you go for a drink at a pub if you are a tourist or "from away" then you have to first kiss a cod....
Bonne Fête is the French for Happy Birthday...
Not only birthday but any other special date like a party or event.
Proud Canadian here. Have seen Chris in Truro, Nova Scotia. Great speaker and true Canadian. Loved this. Thank you❤
Wow, haven’t heard this song before but this is AMAZING! Love it! What a treasure! Hats off to Chris and Dave Hadfield.
These guys are so talented. I just finished reading Chris’ novels “The Apollo Murders” and “The Defector “. Highly recommended.
Oh, The Apollo Murders is on my to read list. Haven’t read any comments on it. Thanks
Cool song! Chris Atfield took a moment one day to enjoy my grandson and I and my little guy showed me he could read Chris’ book so I could buy it for him. So loving and sincere!
Bonne Fete means happy holiday. In variations it can used to express other things like happy birthday
(It is one of the highest awards you can receive in Canada.)
Ryan received NOT JUST his medal (which he is wearing), but ALSO a song created FOR HIM (which would be another great honour) by Steven Page - who was part of one of the biggest Canadian groups in the 80s - The Barenaked Ladies.
- which contain a lot of the country's lumberjacks & are teased/stereotyped for it.)
I would greatly look forward to your review of this other (really great song.) Hope you will do so.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend, Tyler
& the same to everybody else out there.
*** Make SURE you watch TO THE VERY END OF THIS VIDEO, TYLER, to hear the STILL IMPORTANT message from an Indigenous Chief.
(This song/video always makes ME cry!!)
Ryan Reynolds is not just a good actor, he is a GREAT man!

When we're camping in the forest, it's vital to have at least one guitar so we can sing songs by the fire. Music is a big part of our culture.
Hi Tyler, from Belmont Ontario. 🇨🇦 Love your videos, you always make me laugh. Proud to be a Canadian ❤🇨🇦🫂
Never be surprised, Tyler, when Canadians pick up a guitar and sing a song we wrote.
We're music makers.
In Saskatchewan, we had the sitcon Corner Gas. And we also wear a bunnyhug.
I absolutely hated Corner Gas... Until I lived near the prairies and then spent a fair amount of time in them proper.
And then it was a great show.
Dave Hatfield is a pilot qualified to fly WW 2 fighters.. He flies at airshows!
I did run across this song after rewatching Chris' version of "Space Oddity" he recorded on the space station. Well worth the watch.
Thank YOU this Brought joy to many Canadians ❤🎉
the clothing mentioned, I believe is, Sorels. They have been a very good boot for a probably 50 years
I’m Canadian and have not heard this song before!!!! It’s really good! 🍁
Friendly giant was one of my childhood shows this brings memories back❤
Our SARNIA airport is named after Chris Hadfield and Hadfield’s Dad is still a pilot and has flown there for an event. He is a very talented man!
The Arrogant Worms are so funny. I like "We got rocks and trees.....and water". Canadians love to laugh at themselves. We do the best comedies.
@@noadlor My favorite Arrogant Worms song is "Canada's Really Big."
@@Shan_Dalamani And some people say Canada doesn't have culture. 😅 The fact that Canadians can relate to these songs and get a laugh means we have a shared culture.
@@noadlor Hey, as someone who took physical and cultural geography in college, I can definitely relate to songs that inform me that "Our mountains are very pointy... our Prairies are not... The rest is kinda bumpy... but man, do we have a lot!"

Kolbassa (or Kielbasa) is the name of a Polish sausage.
& as there are pockets of people who settled from different parts of the world our food is eclectic :}
My Mom's side is from a place in Manitoba called Altona. Mostly Mennonite , very religious farming community , and many, many different dishes were made by my Grandma. I wish I could pronounce themenough to write them, but Kobassa was a staple.
The main ingredients in kolbassa cubasah (many spellings and claimers) is meat and garlic , also known as garlic sausage, the.meat can be turkey beef ham. Etc , in a ring formation
Thanks for bringing this back Tyler! Hats off to the Canadian Hadfields !
Chris Hadfield sometimes plays in a band with a few other astronauts.
