Weber makes a inferior product nowadays using cheap metal. I have an old Webber that is over 10 years old and still looks brand new because they use high-quality material.
Thanks Tom for opening up this topic for discussion. Their costs should go down due to standardization and consolidation (economies of scale). Also they can cross over ideas to make each product better (hopefully!). The ultimate price to the consumer question will be answered by other competition in the market place. As you stated, expect more consolidation to occur due to the multitude of recent start ups in the different segments of outdoor cooking, that competition will be the most important to final price.
Great information Tom! Not sure if quality will suffer.i believe most of Weber is built in the USA. Not sure about Blackstone. Time will certainly tell. Thanks for sharing Tom! Cheers.
Nothing ever good came from mergers and accusitions, look at every company that merged or sold off, Roper, Porter Cable, Craftsman, Lionel, Dodge, Jeep, etc
Interesting Tom. The only reason for a merger is to get bigger and increase the bank account. Most of the grills today are out of many peoples price range....just like a lot of other things....like food! What's the point of having a grill if you can't afford something to grill? It's just sad.
Never thought real high of blackstone products. Owned 2 of them and gave them both away. Crappy build quality imo. I hope Weber doesn’t suffer because of it.
First, thanks for the news. I didn't know that was in the works. Both companies have their strong suits, but any company can have their product made in China these days and their market share might be slipping. I see both of these brands getting a lot more competition going forward. Consider the Monument Grills you've featured. I don't see why anyone wouldn't consider one over a Weber. It used to be you'd pay a premium for quality, but sometimes it seems it's just the brand name expecting a higher price.
What does it mean??? Well most likely more products made in China. I would not be surprised if they finally move the kettles to China it’s basically all that is left. I know they tried once and it went horribly wrong, but enough time has probably passed to try it again :/
And you know who is going to be sitting back watching this happen? MONUMENT GRILLS. When Weber raises their prices and people start looking for a affordable grill , monument grills will step up and say you want a great grill for half the price and get basically the same features as Weber, buy our grills
Why? I have a Blackstone and it sucks, I’m a griller, not a griddler. I wear glasses and blackstone sucks with the heat steam flowing up from the metal griddle. It sucks. Weber is the best grill around.
I hope prices don’t go up. Weber has their prices so high that the average Joe can’t afford their products anymore.
Thanks for Watching Johnny! Agreed

Thanks for Watching Christopher! Appreciate your insight

Thanks for Watching Jay! You are correct, time will tell….
My Blackstone is made in China
Totally happy with its quality and price
Hopefully this doesn’t ruin the quality of the products and hopefully prices don’t go up more. Great info Tom! Cheers 🍻

Maybe in the UK we will get to see more products.
Thanks for Watching! Hopefully so…
Weber went IPO a while back. Already started on the road to investors focused over quality.

Move to a more affluent country

Thanks for watching Bill! Appreciate the feedback
I hope Blackstone gets Weber to innovate more. Perhaps a 36" WSM would be nice!
Thanks for Watching Mike! That would be awesome
Hopefully they can leverage supply chain and improve price… right now Weber is cutting quality to hold prices down
Thanks for Watching Gerald! I agree
Economies of scale. We’ll see. Thanks for the update Tom😃
Thanks Eric!

Thanks Ted! Excellent point!
Very interesting info
Thanks for watching!
I’m a Weber and blackstone fan. Hoping for the best but idk. Maybe Weber paint quality with go over to blackstone.
Thanks for Watching! Good point
Can you give me some information the firebowl folding barbecues you have? I have never seen those. Where can they be purchased?
Thanks for watching Jordan! From the 1960’s. Not made anymore

That is kinda what i figured. I was hoping they were remaking them. Great collection!! Great content!
Thanks for Watching Jordan! Appreciate the support
Ahh, yes, the old “prices will go down if we merge.” Ask airline passengers how that worked…..
lol! Exactly! Thanks for Watching!
Hope this doesn’t go like the Boeing and McDonnell Douglas merger.
Thanks for watching! Hopefully not

Not so sure any of this is good….Weber should stick to what they do and Blackstone also……not always good in a merger!!!! I hope they stay separate!
Thanks for watching! Time will tell….
