I purchased a 2023 NC750X two months ago and have ridden it 5,000 miles. I am 5'5" tall and it is perfect. I get 70 to 80 mpg. I am not sure how you got less than 50mpg. My worst mileage so far has been 72mpg. I did not buy it as an adventure bike. I bought it for FUN. The bike has a low center of gravity and is very easy to ride. Maintenance has been easy, you can change oil and filter without removing any panels. DCT works great. I like the fuel monitoring feature - instead of telling the estimated miles left on your tank, it shows you the amount of fuel you used. When it says you used 2.0 gallons, that is exactly what you put in it to fill it up. Much more accurate than the range in the Goldwing. The fronk is great. The one improvement I would like to see is for Honda to add cruise control. You can't ride this bike without smiling.

I have a 2023. I look forward to riding this bike. It's so much fun. The highway gets you plenty of head wind, even with a taller windshield. I am 5.11. Amazing motorcycle for what it is.
I’m 6’6” and my 2012 nc700x is as the most comfortable bike I’ve ridden. I plan on picking up this new model at some point…
I usually get 60-65 mpg on my 21’
I referred to the TFT dash several times and, in fact, it is an LCD. Sorry for the error. Also, I mentioned my hip pain/cramp and I said my left hip. Not sure why because it was my RIGHT hip that was having the pain, not the left. I remember having to stretch my right leg out as I rode.
You also referred to the ABS light as the "analogue brake system" warning light. The "A" stands for antilock, not analogue. This is standard across the automotive industry.

Speaking as a 2 year owner, that was a very fair review. When the model originated in 2012 it had more ground clearance and suspension travel. While not as capable as say the BMW GS650-850 series with some good tires it was surprisingly capable off road. Honda really had nothing in the mid adventure category at that time so the NC700_750 was their placeholder until the Africa Twin came along. As Honda tweaked it in subsequent model years after the Africa Twin was released, The NC became more street bike . 2021 model year the bike was lowered an inch and lost an inch of suspension travel.
The peg position is a interesting story for me. I’m also 6’2 and I was 65 when I bought it. The knee angle was a killer when I first bought it so I put on 40mm drop foot pegs. But after a year and 11000 miles I was back up to stock peg height. These days 300 miles is a comfortable ride.

Great review of the 23 nc750x dct. I have been loving my 2014 nc700x ( Honda red of course) since new. Never let me down and has guided my wife and I on thousands of spirited milesat 65MPG at 50MPH solo I have pulled 74MPG. Yes I did upgrade to a Corbin saddle, Taller windshield and a custom backrest/rack but she has pulled us up mountian passes and swift river road curves like a champ. My 2022 goldwing dct tour is a fantastic bike but so is my NC...and they seem to get along fine. Safe Travels to all
Just so folks know, you can turn off the torque control completely, put it in User mode then hold down the Mode button until you get to where you can adjust the levels of the 4 parameters. Move over to the T parameter and hold down the select down button for 3 seconds or so, and it will turn off torque control all the way. The only bummer is it won't save this setting. The next time you kill the bike and turn it back on and put it in User mode, it will be back at 1 instead of 0. If you get used to it, you can put it at 0 in about 5 seconds, and it will stay that way as long as the bike is running.
I bought mine in march, coming off a 2018 Goldwing Tour DCT. The Goldwing was just not a good easy bike for maintenance , The amount of plastic you had to remove for air filter and valve adjustment was No Bueno. This bike is very easy for maintenance work including air filter and valve checking and adjustment.. It was also getting too heavy to manage. Im 74, This bike is fun to ride, I added a centerstand. Im getting 70-80 MPG, it is such a great value in a great Honda motorcycle. Love the Frunk. Love your review.
Fantastic review Cruiseman! You hit on the same pros and cons I experienced while trying a used NC750 and an CTX700. I ultimately went with the CTX based on comfort, but both are Fantastic bikes and I LOVE the Honda's DCT. Thanks for the great content 😀👍

Love the review. I've read quite a few of the comments and agree with almost everything being said, perhaps a model difference but I would only say that the bike's adventure capabilities are being downplayed too much and that perhaps, adventure is very much in the eye of the beholder. I purchased my 2013 NC700X 2-years ago with 4,400-miles on it and it stands at 31,217 as I write this. I've ridden more than 700-miles of the Mid-Atlantic BDR (south to north) holding my own with a KTM 1200 and 890; also more than half of the South Carolina Adventure Route with a KTM 890 & Aprillia 650(?), and have made multiple trips to the family hunting cabin accessible only via rough, semi-maintained mountain forest service roads. I've also ridden it on a 3,000-mile round trip to Charlotte NC > Waco TX. Oh, and it's my daily transportation for a 40-mile round trip commute. Perhaps overly confident (or ignorant) but I got the bike because I wanted something that could take me everywhere I wanted to go and it is excelling for in that regard. Obviously, I've made some modifications - namely a Sargent seat to protect my butt as I love to ride it and skid plate & crash bars to protect the bike on my adventures. I don't compare it to the true adventure bikes nor do I aspire to do 50mph on those rough roads so that's why I'm not saying that it is an adventure bike outright.
Great review. I live on the Canadian prairies and own the 2022 version, rode mine down thru the American SW last summer, gorgeous country down there! Planning on Alaska in July. I agree 17 inch cast wheels don't lend it to true adventure type riding, but gravel and dirt roads no problem. Love the bike, just wish it was belt drive.

Thanks for the straightforward review. That frunk looks spacious. I always use the motorcycle to go to the grocery. Having room for bread, milk, eggs, and Tide are a must for me.
I used to ride sport bikes. I loved everything about them except for how far I had to bend my knees. I got to the point where I didn't even want to ride any more. I practically gave away my last one because it was just going to sit and rot. It's now Gold Wings only for me. I'd love to take a short ride on a NC750X, but I can tell just from looking at it that my knees would be bent about the same way so it wouldn't be a long ride.

Had one, was a great bike for commuting. I had to get a larger windscreen, bar risers and use a seat pad. Awesome mileage on regular gas. I needed a bike better suited for touring so I got a larger machine with a conventional fuel tank. I loved the storage on the NC though. If I were able to have two bikes, I would have kept it for everyday riding. It was like riding a big scooter and had the advantage of an easily accessible engine for maintenance. Great review, you summed it up nicely.
That was a great review and I would like to tell you that I have a 2012 GL1800 and decided to get a 2017 NC750X that just caught my eye. I have my Wing for the road and the NC for the off road or gravel roads. My NC750X pushes me to the front also, and no clutch and no shifter is a bug. I find my NC real nice since I can see more intersting things off paved roads.
I agree with your assessment- I wanted the gold wing - so it was a super practical bike for me - had exactly 60 days and put 5000 miles - I’m 67 so it’s a perfect commuter bike
Cruiseman great review. I own a non ABS 2020 NC750X with a manual gearbox so I'm unable to relate my experience to the DCT/ABS version of the machine however i can definitely relate to fun factor, Handling and power of the machine. I use the bike for everyday commuting to weekend/Long distance rides rain or shine and have always found the NC to never falter or strain even at higher highway speeds of 80+. Since I'm fully manual I am able to lock up the rear wheel on command and don't have to worry about the computer cutting my power. From what I've seen and heard a few times is the MPG on the DCT version of the machine is always lower than what I get on my bike, my weekly commute is in New York City and the outlying boroughs for the most part and am getting 54 to 58 MPG religiously, when I am traveling on the highway and am behaving (70-75MPH) the bike usually gets 68-72 MPG. I'm a very Happy NC 750X owner.
I bought my nc about a month ago. Spot on, great review! I literally agree with everything you said. Not only 6'2" but a bit in the hefty side. Peg position is a negative but everything else, I love. Great job on the review!
Nice review. It's unfortunate USA does not get the Honda XADV. Being basically the same motorcycle in different clothes the drive train suits the large adventure scooter type platform well. But the mission of the NC750X is achieved impressively.

The NC is not for off road, its for around town and on the back roads and alot of fun. I enjoyed it while I had one.
Dang, I’ve used mine to find camping spots and fishing spots off-road. Mine must be broken lol.

@@Texarmageddon also depends which version you got. Pre 2021, it was certainly light off road capable and not too heavy either. the 2021+ model is a far more road oriented machine. It shouldn't be in the adventure class, but road bike.
I have the 2015 nc 700x DCT. It is not an adventure bike. The suspension, gearing, and tires are inappropriate. It is a mild pleasant commuter bike that gets great gas mileage. Easy to ride. Pretty good looking, looks better in person than in photos. I added a skid plate, better pegs, trunk, handlebar risers, seat, a d windshield.

Really good, informative and compact review! I have the former version of this bike nc700x. In my opinion in case of style nc750x is a bit better looking bike. Additional advantage is a few HP more comparing to mine. Storage is also a bit bigger. Nc750 2023 was on my shortlist before I found nc700x from colleague of mine. Im really happy about how it rides, comfort and fuel efficiency. Nc750 may be even a bit better choice for me since the seat height is lower (nc700x 831mm vs. nc750x 800mm) and Im a short rider (~170cm). If the potencial owner is not looking for high performence peak and want the comfort, smooth riding and really outstanding fuel eceonomy instead, then nc750x may be one of the kind.
I enjoyed your review of the NC750X. I recently purchased one of these motorcycles and your review is right on. I think Honda calling it an adventure bike is indeed a stretch. I chose it for commuting and short trips on the highway. I have ordered Honda’s taller wind screen. I also put on a center stand to make the chain maintenance easier for me. I really like the DCT transmission, but the fun factor was what sold me on the bike along with it’s low center of gravity. Thanks very much for your review.
Hi Don. I am interested in getting this bike. How is the suspension (on paved roads, not interested in offroad)?
@@MrDjjecky For me the front suspension is fine on the paved roads. I thought the rear shock was a little stiff for me on the factory preload setting. It was in setting 3 which is the middle setting. I moved it one setting softer for me. I’m about 200 lbs. Hope this helps.

I bought the NC750X in March and the 750 Shadow today. Been riding 50 years, and I would rank them 1 (NC) and 2 of my all time favorite bikes. I also have a Triumph America 865 cc.

I have had the 2018 model and now i have the 2023 model... I think it looks fantastic and it drives real good! I love the dct, it was already good but on the 2023 model it is excellent. Love the front storage and in combination with the shad sh36 witch hold any full face helmet and a topcase it is an adventure bike... A road adventure that is! I have had all sorts of bikes including a bmw gs witch i never offroaded😅
I do my commuting on a honda forza 300 and my road trips on my nc750x... Get the shad trunks, a givi high windscreen with rizers to put it on max high and a jn seats from Portugal and you can do any road trip you want... For the money it is a really nice bike.

Typically here in Europe it's 80-90mpg. You only get that low a mpg if there is an issue with bad valve clearance, a pin hole leak in the fuel rail, dirty mas flow sensor or badly caked air filter or it's down to weight. I know that a Tesla Model 3 can go as low as 50 miles on a charge thanks to an Alabama court case where the couple, who had a combined weight of 1900lbs could only get 50 miles out of their Tesla on their snack run. A typical American snack size pizza being 30" according to London Tourist News

I purchased my NC a couple months back for short weekend tours. Last bike I had was a 83 Nighthawk 650 and haven’t been on a bike for 37 years. I agree with the review, love it for running around twisting back roads, but other than firm gravel its not the greatest off-road. That said, I don’t think I could have picked a better bike to get back into riding. I’m not sure how much riding I’ll get in, or if I’ll wish I’d gotten an Africa Twin or Goldwing intstead, but with the cost of the NC compared to those I’m sure I made the right choice for this year.

Was and still am a huge fan of the Yamaha FZ-1 original styling but the Honda NC-700 series really changed everything about "motorcycling" for me for the better and that is without DCT use. Sales numbers don't lie is my summary of this machine.
Maintenance has to be a 5/5. You pop the radiator off (real easy)and remove the valve cover for easy access to the screw and locknut valve clearance adjustments. It has to be one of the easiest bikes to do this on. No tank, airbox and a pile of electronics to remove.
Have you replaced the air filter yet? It's a major process.

Quite a few people have used (with upgrades) this bike for long distance touring (Thailand for one). Someone in Britain upgraded the suspension and said it made a impressive difference in handling and ride.

Had one. DCT felt very weird and wind protection was terrible even after installing touring windshield. Sold it within 9 months.

I'd like to see double disks up front, more control over ride modes and cruise control and this would be a perfect road bike. Also bigger wind screen knuckle guards and center stand added.
Good video, I had test driven one and wasn’t sure if it was what I wanted for a mix of commuting and touring. The fuel capacity was a little concerning for touring and the range was uncertain at the time of the test ride. The amount of time on the test drive didn’t seem to be enough to make a fair evaluation of the bike and my expectations. I bought another bike, and was okay at first but now think the Honda might’ve been a better choice.
It's tough making a decision based on a short test ride. What did you end up with?

Good review! I did a review of this bike, too. I love mine. It's reliable, cheap, simple and handy as all get out.
I'm not sure 40-something mpgs is very good for a bike like this though. I get similar mileage to you, but my old Bandit used to get 42mpg on average and it was an old 1250cc I4. So "just under fifty" is disappointing to be, seeing as this bike is supposed to be one of the most frugal bikes out there.
Very good review, best I've seen. I live in Plano, been looking at this bike cause I'm always workin on 1985 Nighthawk 650. Actually rebuilding my slave cylinder this weekend but will probally keep my Nighthawk cause of what you said about the NC750. I like the NC750 but a lot of things I don't like.
For information, it’s an LCD screen and not TFT.
The manual version, is still an option in Europe

I have owned one for six months, done 2500 miles and agree completely with this videos comments. I also found the multi-coloured light distracting, but the manual does tell you how to turn it off. I have a BMW K1600 for touring, so I am used to a far bigger bike. I am 6’ 1” and have no problems with the seat on day rides and if going farther afield I would use the BMW. However, I average 86 mpg and have achieved 96 on one journey (imperial, not US gallon). If I tried I am sure I could top 100 mpg. I love this bike!
How did you find the roadway illumination at night? I've got the 2020 version, I bought it new, and the headlight was aimed too high. The low and high beam aim were linked, meaning one screw adjusts both equally, and the low beam was useless for roadway illumination and the high beam was even worse. I had oncoming motorists flashing me thinking I had my high beams on. Got tired of it and finally adjusted the headlight aim down a bit after finding a TH-cam video on how to do it. It's perfect now.
I have a 2023 NC750X and almost totally agree with this assessment. I do not understand why Honda classify it as an adventure bike. I am 6' 1" and do not have a problem with the seating and leg positions etc. So far (only done 700 miles) I have found it very comfortable and averaging 86 mpg (a UK gallon is more than a US gallon). I am used to a BMW K1600 GTL (I rode 400 miles yesterday) and will always use it for touring. For me this Honda is a great every-day bike.
I'm in the UK too and have been researching like mad about this bike as it really appeals to me as a first "big" bike. I'm 6'1" and was a bit concerned if it would be comfortable or not. I'm ordering one tomorrow.
@@seanwilliams2098 - I have been riding since 1974 and have three other bigger bikes. This has to be one of the best bikes I have ever had. I just love the DCT. Since May I have done 2500 miles a few 200 mile days with no comfort problems. I am 6' 1" and 67.

this reminds me of the HONDA CB-750A. It was a great idea, im glad the idea has returned. Manuals are a dangerious method in cities and suburbs. Wonderful off road.
What’s it like to ride at night , do the lights give good vision in the dark? Certainly enjoyed your review , it’s a bike I’m considering buying in the future.

It's a motorcycle. They all vubrate,shake ,bump,buzz and everything else. This Honda will be my next bike. At 66 yrs old,I get cramps in my hips and legs when I'm out at nite looking at the stars. I just added your channel . Thanks

Excellent and comprehensive review. Most riders who buy this in the UK will not buy it for its off road capabilities. It is basically a multi-tool bike that is great as a commuter but with will also be good for a weekend blast to the coffee shop in the hills with the ability to be a great one up tourer if you fit a decent luggage pack. Honda’s own touring kit is good but so is the product from Givi.

So I was all set to pick up a 23 BMW 750 GS this weekend when the dealer told me that BMW issued a Stop Sale on all 23 models yesterday, something to do with an emissions part made by a third party vendor. So have to start looking at alternatives and so far this is at the top of the list. Will be trying to do a demo ride this weekend. The price point is very good but the only thing that gets me is that black and white TFT screen. I mean it is 2023.
I own safe And Sound window film, and I have a black 21 wing, the top trunk has some kind of vinyl wrap.
Bought mine in Feb. this year. Love it but I'm 5'7 tall. But the seat pushes me forward and I wish the foot pegs were a little farther forward also. Great review. Need some hand guards and saddlebag supports if anyone has any recommendations?
Gday cruiseman iown this ones little brother the 500x but follow a guy who owns a 2015 model nc 750 the 750 has over 100000km on it and still running sweet ,he has upgraded suspension ect . I am not a big fan of dct maybe ok for someone with hand issues or the like but for me i like to be in control of my gear selection also helps if some fool brakes hard in front of you without notice . the 750 and 500 are both misers on fuel they are in my opinion when kitted out with panniers and a top box a great commuter and also a day or week tripper , i agree it is not a true adventure bike but i have seen guys go on some pretty narly trails on them and the 500's . Anyway a fair review it will never be a goldwing but it is a good commuter take care .
I was going to buy a Cymco AK 550 but tomorrow I am going to the dealer and look at one and hopefully test drive.
Very helpful, I was considering it but not anymore, especially the two facts that not all helmets fit in there and the fuelling can be frustrating when having strapped luggage (why I didn't think that earlier..?).
In combination with the fact that I don't like the front looks, it's out of the equation. You made me liberated from dilemma!
I'm curious - what do you ride instead? The filler neck location and chain kill it for me. I'm seriously considering the VFR1200X DCT.
Well I just puchased a new goldwing and a NC750x I am almost 6.1 and agree with the peg situation but I think I solved that problem I put GVI crash bars on the bike and installed some highway pegs and wow what a difference I am now able to stretch my legs out cause I easily get leg cramps while riding almost any bike so any bike I have I figure a way out to put highway pegs on to stretch my legs out

Some (or all don't know) had a option to buy a left foot manual shift lever, still DCT so no clutch just shift control.
ABS does not stand for "analog brake system" its "ANTI LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM"
Love your rates, I would change just the comfort to a 5/5 and offroad to a 1,5/5, agreed with the others...
I had a NC750 DCT 2017 before I change for the Goldwing. I loved the bike but not for long distance. I really enjoy the bike and sold it to a Goldwing owner.

I was considering this as a commuter bike. I have a 50 mile one way commute 5 days a week. I want something smaller than my Goldwing.

In so many discussions about “adventure” bikes, off-tarmac and off-road deserve a more nuanced distinction. In so many locales, off-tarmac roads are not only less taken, they’re more numerous, interesting and, in many ways, safer. The whole category of 90/10 (on/off tarmac) lower power bikes offer much more than meets the eye, mostly because we can’t see what’s off tarmac until we ride there. Yep, my Africa Twin is a lot more proficient “off-road” than my Wee ‘Strom, but both bikes offer plenty of adventure!
Great review! Definitely not a purebred adventure bike, probably classified that way to say it can take on some not so ideal roads.
Would this be a good replacement for my 2019 Honda cb500x ? I like the fuel economy of my current bike or should I look at the new transalp?

Love the idea, just concerned about low speed throttle tip in and overall power lacking. It’s such an old engine. I wish they would keep the NC and update it with new power and tech.
low speed throttle is no problem with a little trail braking, and it is an adapted engine from the honda fit. plenty ofponies and lots of torque.. and you can easily get 70 MPG with a little effort

Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) - Can be dangerous on gravel/dirt and really bad if they get gummed up with sticky mud.
Why do people always insist that a bike labelled as an adventure has to be super capable off road and have a 19" front wheel. All of my bike trips are adventures and I've never ventured off road. I'm on my 2nd NC750X and it's brilliant.
I just rode one back to back with my triumph street triple (2024) and for the difference in price, I cannot conceive anyone picking this bike over the triumph. The bike felt lifeless, soft and really not fun at all. Maybe this one has an edge on reliability and endurance, but i rather spend a few more bucks and put a smile on my face. Not being negative, just giving my impressions. The bike i tested was not a 2023, but looks like it is not that different than the previous generation
If you thinks the seat is hard you can stand up on the pegs..i am 6 foot 2 and no problems..if you chanche the tire you can ride light off road..but its nice on Swedish "roads" the tire is most important offroad..
If it were a manual shift I would consider it. I'm not into automatic motorcycles.

I had the NC700X, the 750 is much improved.

Its a commuter | tourer, mild street bike.
My impressions: i have a 2021 one, and i can drive this bike for 400 miles without becoming tired, (much easier than my old bigger one, the 1200GS), the seat is extremely soft for me, and i feel comfortable maybe cause you're taller than me, im 5:10, and thinner, im 290 pounds (yeah, i can be heavy on arrobas), and for me, the biggest "A" on this bike, is the est MPG, i can do 70mpg at the speed of 50mph easily (and im fat)...
What model helmet do you have with the sun visor? tks

It would be so nice if Honda put a decent size windscreen on the bike. As it is, riding this bike, I seem to get more wind buffeting than on my last naked bike at the same speeds.
In Europe you can buy nc with manual transmission and dct.
It's fantastic, I've never had any engine issues with Honda,they build their cycle engines like they build their generator engines..tough
Well that makes me wonder if the 500x might be better to put 50/50 tires on, to make a budget baby Africa bike

There are lots of bikes classed as adventure bikes that are ( road focused)
One of the best and practical bikes ever made.
But it is really time for some updates.
Even the cheaper nx500 has double brake discs, traction control, nice screen with navigation etc .
They don’t need to do much , just update it and maybe a bit more power.
