If they have to ship out a first with Joseph I think that is a massive problem. At most I would think a second should do. It’s not like there isn’t teams in the NHL who don’t have cap space, and need to ice some players. I’d imagine sending a third or a fourth with Joseph to Chicago or San Jose would be sufficient, if not there may be a problem. Sens have two firsts this year (most likely) and if they move one it has to be as an upgrade to the roster, not another sweetener to mop up a salary cap mess. Great pod guys. Go Sens go!
Exactly, I think teams think they can take advantage of our situation and squeeze that 1st round pick out of us. PD is most likely staying calm and standing pat which shows other teams that a 1st for a cap dump is just not on the table. If it gets to the point where Pinto misses all of camp, someone's going to take Joseph with a 3rd or 4th. Lots of teams could use a guy like Joseph, he's still very useful.
A first?!? Never ever! 3rd perhaps. I don't think anyone will get traded. Somebody will get injured and put on IR... they're going to have to move Pinto eventually unless he surpasses Norris. There's no way he fits in long-term
@@SceptileSlashDorion would be fired instantly attaching a first round pick to Joseph. That will never happen. They would move Kublik or somebody else before even considering a 1st.
One thing that I have yet to see mentioned and this is probably the only leverage that Pinto has is that he absolutely needs to sign before day 1 of the NHL season because otherwise, his cap hit counts for more as a penalty to the team. The year Brady signed 2 games late, his cap hit that year was $8.35 million because he signed late. Given that the Sens are up against the cap, the team cap afford to go into the season without Pinto signed because that cap hit will go from $2.5 million to $3 million if it goes too long and that can make a huge difference to this team.
I'm sure what's happening is that the offers for Joseph are lousy. He's coming off a bad year, and we know he can bounce back so we're better off holding him. We're also weak in our bottom 6 forwards, so we shouldn't be thinning that out. Trading Branstromm is what will make the most combined sense for us, for the other team and for Branstromm, because he just doesn't make sense in our 3 D pair, but would make a lot of sense for a rebuilding team, and it would probably be better for his career. Klevin is ready and perfect for 3rd pairing. We'll regret it a bit if we get D injuries (which history says we will), but our young guys can fill in fine. Just do it to free the space and get Pinto signed.
Branny is the only one that can play a Top 4 roll when Chabot, Chychrun and Zub get injured. I personally don't see them messing with the defence core at all. It's been our weakest link for six years. Also gives Kleven more time to season. Next year i could see a move. Branny is a very good dman and improves every year. Joesph was horrendous last year. His contract makes the most sense to move especially with the guys that can take over that spot and roll. Rather have Bailey, Sokolov, Kubalik play in his position and have the space and $ for Pinto. I think it will all be moot though as somebody will get injured before the season starts
@@neilsunstrum933Maybe, but if the best offer is to trade Joseph plus a first round pick for nothing, do you make that trade. Remember the other GM is taking on $3M for 3 years for what his fans will see as a 3 goal guy.....
@@pa-mo absolutely not. There's no way a first round pick is tied to Joseph. Third or fourth at best or it doesn't make any sense to move him. Even with the horrible year he's a very fast, good forechecker, good on the PK. I don't think PD even consider's a 1st or 2nd round pick to move him. Could just put him on waivers, or they move Kubalik. I honestly think somebody gets injured in camp and then there's no issue. Happens every year. Believe he's going to have a bounce back season with a much deeper bottom six. Norris and Chabot, Greig all have injuries right now and camp just started
I feel like Zub is a slightly better hockey player today than Pinto but Pinto will pass him this year, and obviously has a lot more potential because of age and talent.
Igor was better than almost everyone in the bottom six, last year five games two points one goal… Would've lead all bottom six forwards in points had he'd be given the opportunity. I hope DJ Smith is gone this year amount of young guys that didn't get legitimate opportunities, drives me bonkers every year. Greig might be a better long term option at 3C. Not sure Pinto will be happy playing behind Stutzle, Norris for years. Would be nice to have him for a few more years as they could fit him in if other players don't work out or guys like Giroux retire. I think it's just a matter of time before Pinto or Greig are top 6 fixtures.
Just put Joseph (half serious half sarcastic) on waivers lol Pierre needs to fix this mistake. How the fuck are we squeezing Shane for a million right now? It's hard not to look back at the aav we gave to Joseph, branny, harmonic and McEwan and wonder if a couple 100k from each of those couldve been the difference.
Thanks guys, you put out an excellent show that's spot on and always interesting. Keep it up!
Thanks, Glenn! The support is much appreciated.
Pumped they got Egor signed finally!! I hope he blows the doors off at training camp and force his way onto the lineup

The 4th line will be better with Crookshank and Sokolov and center Kastalik
do we know what pinto is asking for? that may be the held up.

The fact that one is a forward and the other is on the D, makes this comment. The dumbest yet in the new season. You can’t compare.
The sens need to trade Joseph, Kelly and MacEwen

it wouldnt have made a difference. we only have 800k in cap space
Hamonic and MacEwen are fine. Jo is rough but so is Branny. I would've given Pinto $2M before him.
Somebody will go on IR before they move anyone. Cap fine is minimal for that little over. Not worried at all about it.
with Norris in a yellow jersey already, we need to sign Pinto at whatever cost. looks like Norris will be out a lot again with injuries.
