I tried using the piston, but I could not get it to square up consistently the was a bit too much side-to-side play and for my first time I didn't want to continue with it. I had 3 other methods to use, so I didn't stress it. I designed a 3d printed squaring tool for my bore size, I had a roll of painter's tape that fit perfectly, and I bought the tool you see in the video from amazon.
why not use the piston upside down to push em in?
