I've met Cunningham and I'll give her the benifit of the doubt as from what i've seen shes good police but the officer who wrote this report and submitted it for approval needs to be fired. I get it Sgts can't be on every call with their officers but the fact she didn't verify anything before approving his report and sending it to ISP is concerning.

I suppose the common trope of the bad cop, which seems to show up in at least half the movies out there, has convinced the public that this fiction is fact. Integrity is, or should be everything to a police officer, so when I hear of one lying in a report, especially when it condemns someone else, I figure they deserve no mercy from the justice system.

As an unfortunate resident of McLean county, which Bloomington/Normal is part of. This is low on their police totem pole of stupidity. Illinois has a rash of bad police officers because they are petty much immune to punishment. Multiple high profile cases they messed up on that resulted in the wrong person imprisoned or wrong person being tried. No news agency reported nationally when they ended an autistic man in Chenoa in the 90’s after ISP told them to end the pursuit. Heck my brother was arrested by a Normal officer in Bloomington for underage drinking when he was 24. Realizing that they can’t charge him with underage drinking. The judge changed the charge to a misdemeanor open container law in the town of Normal. Even though he was arrested in the city of Bloomington where it is legal to drink on sidewalks in front of or adjacent to the venue serving alcohol.

It's a recent change. They are also moving stuff that WAS in the Concealed Carry Act under the FOID law, to try and use the defense that removing the foid removes all this other stuff (because challenges to FOID are in lower courts) .
