Good breakdown and synopsis. It is worth remembering that we cannot make conclusions about the value of psychotropics to the creative process based only on an assessment of confessed users. Also, depending on the individual, a tiny push from even a socially acceptable substance can unleash a creative flourish.
I really like the idea that overlords do not need to conceal themselves because their nature is so far from the mean of human cognition that we will inevitibly overlay a familiar filter. The idea is reminicent of transcendent categories or collective consciousness.

Im not even halfway through, but to me, it doesnt sound like evil or death, it sounds like a story about the spiritual fear that inspires a necessity to grant the right to use force to authority.

Philip K Dick overrated? And you read books for videos?
Philip K Dick is literally the most brilliant sci fi author, and you think he is overrated?
How can anyone take you seriously.

I think the rest of the sentence is, I always think he’s overrated and then I realize each time how good he is, meaning thinking he’s overrated is a mistake every time
