    Tom K again: you turned the mystery into a MIRACLE! you are a great teacher. I’ve heard of the jerk line before, but you explained and showed it perfectly! Thanks a bushel.

    Excellent. Glad to see you start them young. Here on the west side of the cascades (western Oregon) these people think you shouldn't start them at all before 3 to 5 yrs! Not everyone, but most will bash me if I state I start at 2 yrs. Great job with her. I do wonder though why she seems irritated with something on her right.

      Hey! Thank you for the kind words and yes..I start them as coming 2 yo colts. They’re easier to convince when they’re young. And the can learn HOW to work young. But a man needs to have common sense and know not to overload them and overwork them. As far as her right, the gee string is on her right and she’s still learning the gee string part of one line driving. So I’d say that’s why. Anyway, thanks for watching and taking time to comment! I appreciate it. Take care and do come again, please!

      In my simple mind I would think 2 year old would be better because they would not be set in maybe some bad habits to break. I’m thinking it may take a little more time to train because they are young but thinking the end result is better

    Very interesting and totally different from the 'jerk line' I am familiar with.

      @@zachodommulelogging Instead of trying to explain verbally I'll try to send a video of a guy in Austria, whose jerkline is like the one I knew when still lived in Bavaria where it was the common way in the field, even with teams, and in the woods.

    Wondering what age you start your mules at?

    • @zachodommulelogging
      @zachodommulelogging  ปีที่แล้ว

      I like to start with them when they’re two coming three year olds to harness work. Of course I handle them from the time they’re colts. But we start light work at 2…then progress into more steady heavier work at 3 and coming 4. Thanks for watching and commenting!
