A Routine Test Led to My Hodgkin Lymphoma Diagnosis: Danielle's Story | The Patient Story

- It was a shock to Danielle and her family, when her mother was diagnosed with a rare blood cancer, myelofibrosis. Her mother needed a donor to get a stem cell transplant and tests showed Danielle was a good match. Danielle then went to get a routine chest x-ray and it showed a tumor near her heart. She was then diagnosed with stage 1 classical Hodgkin lymphoma.
Danielle began chemotherapy in January and achieved remission after 4 cycles. However, after finishing the full 8 cycles of chemotherapy, a follow-up PET scan showed the cancer wasn't gone.
Danielle underwent immunotherapy to get back into remission before receiving an autologous stem cell transplant from her brother. A PET scan 100 days post-transplant showed no evidence of disease!

I've never seen anyone so brimming with the life force. Rock on, Danielle!
The way you found out was so good.. my stepbrother has leukaemia and his full sister did tests to be his donor but the tests showed she had leukaemia as well.. caught very early.. she is ok and in remission but my stepbrother is not too well but so so happy he was the reason his sister found out she had cancer and could be saved. Wishing you a very healthy and long happy life ❤
I had previously watched your mom’s video! You are amazing…what a miracle to have your discovery! You are a blessing
I am a 16 year non hodgkins survivor.... I can relate to so much of your story...Blessings to you
Hi Danielle, just came across your video. All the best sweetie. Xx
I wish you a long and healthy life Danielle.
I have no doubt you’re done with that journey.
🎉❤ “choose love
over fear “
I’m so glad you were guided to get that X-ray. I think you can rest assured knowing that you were guided to that to give you the best chance of beating this thing and that you will. Wishing for healing and long, happy lives for both you and your mom 💛
Wow you are so articulate and genuine. I love your spirit. I know 5 people who had (yes had) Hodgkin's Lymphoma over 40 years ago. Modern medicine is even more miraculous and the brilliant, devoted, caring doctors are lifesavers. I wish you a beautiful, long and happy life! Thanks so much for sharing. I did g know you could have a stem cell transplant as an outpatient. I learn from everyone's stories. Love to you from SF❤️
I did not understand the hair thing till my sister got lymphoma. We are 7 hours away from each other. When I saw her she had lost her hair. A 76 yr old without hair, she had always been the girly one. The next year I saw her.. her hair was back. No longer gray but a bright red. Growing up, she had black hair. Her chemo she did not mind...it was the 4 pound groin tumor removal that hurt her so much. But...4 yrs cancer free. So I have hope and pray you will be cancer free the rest of your life.
I also loved that in trying to save your mom's life, your mom saved yours.
By my stripes you are healed.
JESUS CHRIST has promised us let's pray claiming His unfailing promise.
Thank you so much for sharing your story. And, yes, please write your book! I found other survivor stories so helpful to me during my cancer journey. ❤
In 1985 at age 18 I was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma, a tumor larger than a fist by my heart. Had 9 months of chemotherapy. 3 months of ABVD and 6 months of MOPP. Then 6 weeks of radiation. At 29 I had my son. Then went into menopause. Couldn’t have any more children. In 2010 a mammogram discovered DCIS. Since I had so much radiation on my chest I needed a bi lateral mastectomy. Been clear of both cancers as of today. Best wishes to you
Wish you a happy life my sister has the same big tumor in middle of her chest only symptoms was coughing she is on chemotherapy now they told her she will take 12 infusion already take 3 now i hope the cancer goes
Thanks for sharing your story. You are so young to have to go through so much. I'm so happy to hear the transplant went well, and you are hopefully cancer free for life. Wish you the very best. Sending you love ❤️ and prayers 🙏.
Thanks for sharing. It's very helpful for me and I'm sure, many others who are going through this journey. ❤
So glad you are doing well!
I am a lifelong Marylander and my heart goes out to you and your mom. My sister and I both were diagnosed within a month of each other. I have a very good oncologist in Calvert County Hospital and she says she is concerned with the new numbers of cancer patients in Maryland. RSO from my dispensary has been God send for both my sister and I
When we get the remission goal and then get a second diagnosis of cancer it takes a lot more strength to get through that journey
I wish you well and I will be praying for you!
Thank you Danielle, for sharing your miraculous & inspiring story! You are a very strong & beautiful young woman. I hope you are continuing to thrive today & always! 🙏❤☀️
Well done video! It might be helpful to interview your mom as to how she handled your cancer. Your book will be so helpful to others. Blessings and prayers. Thank you!
I’m so sorry you had to go through this! Best wishes for continued good health!
Thank you for your story 🙏🏼
Great story! I believe cancer is more genetic than environmental. Thank God we are living in this era with all the new scientific advances. Sending love and prayers 💗🙏🏻
You are such an amazing young women. I was just mesmerized by your story. I have CLL myself and it is such a journey we go through. I wish you all the best in life from this point forward.
I have Cll too. Agree it's a jpurney
Wow, what a story! What an amazing young woman you are!! Were you able to continue your dream job? Wishing you continued great health!!
Helping your mum saved you!
More blessings sent.
My dear, you are AMAZING!! Love 💕, prayers 🙏🙏 and best recovery wishes from Lima, Peru.
Thank you for sharing your story ❤
Thank you for sharing your story. My brother just got his second round of ABVD. Wish you the best.
How is he
@@almra3i he is doing well. He is cancer free since that second round of chemo. 30. of september he will have another CT- scan. We'll see.
Great video. Congrats on clean scan. How is your mom?
We are both NED currently !!
You are amazing! How is Mom doing?
I hope you all got your water tested, and home tested for mold because that's not normal. I'm glad you're better!
So you and your mom fighting cancer at same time? Did your mom ever get someone else to give her stem cells? This also had to effect your brother too having surgery to give you a chance to survive. Wow that was a lot for you and your family. Thanks for sharing your story. I am interested in hearing more about how your mom 🧑 s doing too. Was she going through chemo at same time as you?
Im happy you're better. How is your mom? Did your brother donate to her? I have cll. Always on alert
Congrats to you!
But sorry you have to deal with a healthcare system which depends upon profit. How awful, to think lifesaving treatment is "expensive" for the patient. Incredibly cruel, really. It should be 100% free for anyone who needs it.
Where are you?
@@weleftitbehind5105 Not in America, thankfully!
could the COVID vaccine initiate the Hodgkin lymphoma development?
Great question! I’d like to know that as well.
It did mine I got blood clots and swollen lymphnodes - got the all clear … 4 months down the line stage 3 follecular lymphoma had 6 rounds of chemo now on maintenance jabs every two months- I’m 60 every day a bonus
Most cases are after 2021 so yes
Unfortunately the audio is terrible.
i think they had to use the toaster for a mic after all the medical bills...

Thanks for sharing your story I'm so happy you've come through this process so well!!! Please stop using earbuds though. I'm pretty sure they can cause brain cancer 😢😢 why take that chance! ❤❤❤
These videos are a wonderful resource but I wish that each patient would go into detail when they say that they had a "healthy diet" or "healthy lifestyle" because those phrases are very very vague. For example there are a lot of vegans and vegetarians who eat a lot of ultra processed foods made for vegans (i.e. all the nut milks and fake meat or prepared meals) that are full of toxins and yet they think they are "healthy"
It's not true that junk food vegans think they are "healthy". Being vegan has nothing to do with being healthy.

We all deserve to die. That's why we all do die. Life is a gift from God that we did not and can not earn. He came down and died on the cross to save us from the second death. Repent and trust Jesus Christ, Lord of all.
Whats a second death?
I am thinking it is the final judgment. It is for those who rejected Jesus.
You show no empathy for this cancer stricken women, but Jesus at least shows us love! So, let me get this right what u r saying, if u had or do have a child, and they had cancer, you would say to them, “well, u don’t deserve to live, it’s a gift.” You’re a cold hearted person.
Amen 🙏🏼
