    I sent in this request, and I would like to say just a few things. This was given pretty early in, near when they came out and I didn't really know much about how they work. The reason I had force marched was because at the time, Grimgor had only one army at that settlement and I didn't realize they had a waaagh, so I was more than willing to defend a settlement battle. Thank you, LOTW, for saving the battle for me!

      Yeah, this mechanic is actually 100% realistic and should apply to ranged units on walls as well. I would even go a step further and say that the ammo shouldn't actually deplete from the unit at all, and instead come from a cap on the structure itself.
      Even in modern warfare, when defending a hard target there are usually ammo cans, and fully loaded magazines located at key defensive positions, so a soldier wouldn't reach for a magazine on their person until they had already depleted the ammo stocked there.

      That's hardly surprising though, Grimgor's whole MO is to take out the Dwarves and Ogres and he'll do that very aggressively regardless of whether one of them is player controlled. Every time I play as Cathay Grimgor is the main mid-game challenge as he's killed off all the Ogres by turn 40.

      Grimgor launches his wagh around turn 13~ give or take, and it lasts for abotu 20 turns. You either need to rush him down ASAP and hit him were it hurts before or right as he does his first wagh, or you need to figure out a way to avoid him until the early 30s when his wagh goes away or bait him into a good fight for yourself. If you boarder him or he even sees you, he has a good chance of going to war with you shortly after. Always prepare and plan with grimgor in mind in the early game.

      Thats the correct thing to do. Astragoth can actually be the easiest lord, assuming you rush Grimgore ASAP, because Astragoths territory is highly defendable, very rich, while still being very convenient to expand outward at a quick pace. You can actualy take out grimgores unit production city before his first wagh, and even kill grimgore himself. Once he is wounded and his unit production is wiped out, his wagh is like a wet noodle in comparison to what it previously would be.
      Outside of Grimgore, no other threat is to difficult to defend against. You snowball fairly easily if you rush Grimgore, and its not to hard to rush him if you focus on it. Most people either expand to slowly, or get caught up in competing with Kholek or the norsca which is a massive mistake. Its not impossible to beat grimgores giant wagh stacks, but it is very difficult and their are easier ways to go about dealing with him rather then taking on 80+ units in one battle.

      Thats all factions if you dont finish them, you might get peace but you still have -200 relations so its only a matter of time(10 turns) before they wardec you again, its just especially more annoying with greenskin factions because they will recruit two armies from one settlement then waaagh and then wardec you 1 turn before they fill it completely. ALWAYS wipe the AI, NEVER leave them on one settlement.

    • @OldBaldWookiee
      @OldBaldWookiee ปีที่แล้ว

      @Big Hoss not every faction. I've had a few that once they only had one settlement left wouldn't try to attack me again . I think it has something to do with the difficulty you play on and how strong your faction currently is that determines the AI behavior on this regard but from what I've seen if you are chaos dwarfs grimgor won't ever ask for peace at least not that I've seen .

  • @LordJoey999

    I noticed you were having issues with single entities, my suggestion is to combine flaming attacks and weakness to fire spells, both covenitly on Astragoth.
    Clump up your blunderbuss and use flaming attack spell on them. Then use a single entity hero, e.g. that pony as bait to lead him back and forth in front of the blunderbusses. Not forgetting to cast ash storm on him.
    Alternatively if you get lucky you can get blunderbusses to fire when he's fighting your trash units.. but they are sucky with terrain as light of sight range attackers. I only get it to worth with larger entities and/or with height advantage since sometimes it lets them fire when they probably shouldn't.
    You are effectively trading winds of magic for less ammo spent and quicker killing time, which is sometimes worth the trade.
    Edit: Not in this case, but if you have a flame sorcerer hero you can take this a step further and hit them with his ranged attack to apply flammable. Then cast both flaming attacks and weakness to fire spells at same time you get a massive 80% increase to damage (Don't forget to pick up the passive spells to increase weakness to fire, when casting). I use it often to remove ice bears, stone golems etc. from the map in 1-2 bursts.

    This is every Astragoth, Zhatan, Kholek, Greasus, Zhao Ming, any campaign who starts within 10 turns of movement from Grimgor. His anti player bias is so goddamn extreme in 3 its ridiculous. He will make a beeline to come and ruin your campaign with often times much more than just these 4 stacks. His cheats are wild, he brings Boar Big Uns and so many Black Orcs to every fight well before he has any right to have them. I've had him come and destroy me out of the blue playing as Mazdamundi because he rampaged through Cathay (lore accurate) and took the Sea Lane to Lustria

    For a easier start with Astragoth, even on Legendary, I always rush Grimgor so he doesn't have many armies when he inevitably calls a Waaagh, making an alliance with Kholek is quite easy since he likes to declare wars with factions you want dead as well ( Ogres, Grimgor, that Sun greenskin faction) you can always pick that seat that increases relation with Chaos factions, but i don't think it's necessary for this.

      This kept happening to me to. By turn 20 I had dwarves, skaven, orcs, vamps, high elves, Cathay, and even wood elves in my territory with 2-5 full stacks… after pinballinf around with my main army and taking my settlements back, I finally managed to consolidate the southern dark lands (though it took 100 turns of grinding out these insane battles), then the game immediately activated the grudge too far event, and within 3 turns my territory was overrun with countless full stacks of dwarves…

  • @adriankoch964
    @adriankoch964 ปีที่แล้ว

    CA should consider giving siege defenders a passive restock ability too, maybe at tier 3 and above. Ofc that only make sense if walled settlements are gotting actually defensible & they change the two victory points. Either by the better point nullifying if the lesser get capped, or by not having the lesser give out tickets at all.

      @@dr.karmatsky each faction can only bring 20 units or 40 units to the battlefield at a time. in a siege defense its easier to defend if the enemy comes at you in smaller waves but the battle takes longer.

  • @maesde
    @maesde ปีที่แล้ว

    There should be a mechanic where you are defending, and you can restock ammo 2 or 3 times depending on city level to a few units. Perhaps only for gunpowder races, i don't know but it fits.

  • @Nethingispossible145
    @Nethingispossible145 ปีที่แล้ว

    The hell-forge mechanic should not have an infinitely scaling armament cost imo. At a certain point it’s highly unrewarding to own 100+ settlements but not even have enough armaments to recruit another blunderbuss because you already have 30 of them in play on the map. I understand making them expensive, but the infinite scale doesn’t limit the chaos dwarfs ability to be successful and win battles/campaigns it only limits the players interest in playing that campaign any longer. This is literally my only complaint about Chorfs and I hope either CA or a modder introduces a solution to this in the not-so-distant future.

    I think the waagh mechanic is overtuned right now.
    The greenskins ai press a button and suddenly all armies are doubled at no cost.
    It lasts too long and gives too many units for ai to compete against them
