I have an unusual question for you. I like how you’re playing a slow haunting blues in this video And my question is related to that subject. I’m fairly new to playing Slide Guitar and one of the main reasons I’m drawn to it is the way Ry Cooder plays slow haunting guitar. I love all kinds of slide guitar but some of it is just played too fast. I’m working on creating my own individual sound closer to what Ry plays in his movie soundtracks. It’s difficult to explain what I’m shooting for. I grew up listening to John Fahey and that’s a little closer to what I mean, but I guess the closest thing I’m talking about is learning to play Slide more like Jeff Beck did on Cause We Ended As Lovers He creates a unique sound that is like hearing Whale songs in the ocean. Do you have any suggestions or does what I’m talking about sound like something you’d like to explore in a new video? I really enjoy your videos Thanks 😎🎸🎶☮️
Hey John and thanks for the comment. I'm going from memory here, but I think those sounds are volume swells on the electric, maybe some trem bar, he was so great at making those sounds. I think we're talking about the same thing.
Thank you so much, you explain very well with a lot of patience and it makes it easier for beginners like me! Greetings from France 💚
You're very welcome! Glad it was helpful. Have a great day!
I love these videos. And I love how you explain theory (which I know nothing about) in a way that’s easy to comprehend.
Thanks, Chris!
Your the best at explaining the sounds that make me smile everyday I play them
Thank you so much, really appreciate that. Play On!!
Great lesson - love Skip James
Thanks, me too. Have a great one! John
Wonderful timing (no pun intended) I just tuned my Gibson SJ to DADFAD yesterday. Thanks much.

I thought Cause We Ended As Lovers was slide guitar but I checked and you’re right. ☮️
